Alperen Sengun absolutely dominated Victor Wembanyama and proved why he should be in the conversation with the best young players in the NBA right now. This video breaks down and analyses the game between the Houston Rockets & San Antonio Spurs - as we show you some of Sengun's scoring secrets.

Victor Wembanyama has been the talk of the NBA lately, and for good reason, considering his unbelievable play on both sides of the ball. He recently became the first player to record a 5x5 game since 2019, and LeBron James has called him "special." Someday, perhaps sooner rather than later, he may be the best player in the league.
Against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, we saw more moments of brilliance from the young Frenchman. We also got a reminder, courtesy of Rockets big man Alperen Sengun, that Wembanyama is still a 20-year-old rookie who has played just 56 games in the league and has room to improve.
Sengun went off on in the Rockets' 114-101 win, finishing with a career-high 45 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and five steals. It was the most points scored in a single game by a Turkish player in league history, according to the NBA.
"I mean, yeah, of course [I had extra motivation to play Wembanyama]," said the 21-year-old Sengun, who broke into the league three years ago. "I didn't play that well against him last game I can say. And I didn't have many double teams, they just left me one-on-one with Wemby. I just did what I do."
It was Sengun's other quote, though, that left more of an impression.
"He's so tall but he's not that strong yet," Sengun said. "I was going at his chest and putting him under the rim."
Down the stretch, Sengun scored a number of baskets by out-muscling Wembanyama in the paint.
With about five minutes to play, Sengun delivered perhaps his most impressive play of the night. After fooling Wembanyama with a shoulder fake, he drove baseline only to find himself stuck under the basket. In order to create space, he backed into the rookie and pushed him out far enough that he could spin back the other way for a big slam.

Sengun is playing his third year. This is Wemby's rookie year. Line up Sengun's rookie-year stats against Wemby's and let's see who is better. Actually, go ahead and line up Sengun's last year's (second year) stats against Wemby's rookie year. Wemby still better. Even if you compare this year's stats (Wemby as a rookie, Sengun in his third year), they're similar in points, rebounds and shooting %. Sengun has more assists per game, Wemby has more blocks per game. All in all, even this year they're similar in performance. Sengun just had his best game ever against him, and Wemby was being double- and triple-teamed all night.

Everyone knows Alperen Sengun was suppressed by coach Stephen Silas the first two years. So there's no point comparing. Alperen may have well played G-League those first two years.

@@dookdawg214 he didnt started last season because bruno fernando was infront of him lol. If bruno wouldnt be injured he would contunue sitting. Even when he started he was solely used as pnr big men. the game was designed around KPJ, the gameplan was quite the opposite of what his strenghs are. no chances for post ups like this, atrocious playmaking by the guards, got cut out in crucial moments even when he was on fire. He is a prime example of how hard you can limit a starter. Even in his rookie year he came off the bench because Christian Wood was supposed to become the face of the franchise lol. You gotta watch the games to understand. Alperen projected what he could become with proper usage and a proper team and he PROVES it when he gets the chances. Wemby will be great and probably greater than al-p but has a different game so I wouldnt compare him to Al-P. They just have different skills, advantages and disadvantages.
As a Sengun fan, I came here in rage to say not to write those types of titles, diminishing Wemby. Then you said it was clickbait. Wemby is Wemby and him just being in the paint is enough defence against the teams. Sengunblocked many times but because that he did not shy against him and played the same game he always does.
How will the teams pass Wemby or stop him when he become a more grown man?

Sengun is far more skilled than Wenbanyama. It's not even close. I'll take the most skilled tall guy over the the most tall guy to have skill. Sengun has the talent to make an nba offense go with scoting anf facilitating. That's far more valuable, depending on what wenbanyama develops into. Frankly wenbanyama's scrawniness and extreme extreme height doesnt portend that well. I mean, there is a point at which every added inch above average means diminishing returns. And hes physically weak and i see no reason to believe he'll be anything but
