  • You may ask, "why should I celebrate Passover? Isn't Passover for the Jewish people? BUT, did you know Jesus’ last supper with His disciples, or Holy Thursday, was during Passover? It is deeply intertwined with the Seder meal of the Israelites in the Old Testament.
To truly understand the spiritual importance of the Last Supper, we must understand the Passover of the Jews in the Old Testament. In this teaching, Rabbi Jason Sobel shares some powerful details about the Passover that come to life on Holy Thursday.

So should we technically be calling ourselves gentiles? I don't think so. Not in Yeshua. We are in covenant by the blood of the Messiah, the Lamb of God. Gentiles are considered to be out of the covenant of Adonai.

That is the most powerful message I have ever heard regarding what I had always regarded as "communion" or the "Lord's supper". The power of this message is so incredible, and we have lost so much by divorcing the Passover celebration from the communion. Thank you so much for explaining the meaning of "this cup" that Jesus spoke of, I have asked pastors before and none has been able to give a meaningful explanation....I just shared this with my pastor. In Ray Vanderlann's video of the last supper he says there is a 5th cup. When Jesus went to the garden He prayed; "Father, if it be your will let this cup pass by Me. Never the less not My will; but Yours." The cup was the cup of God wrath in sin. Like in Revelation 14:10.

Preach it brother! The day the original Passover lambs were sacrificed in Egypt (Exodus 12:6), on the 14th day of the first month, was the same day my Passover Lamb died for me (John 18:28, 19:14).
Many years ago, after recognizing that Jesus’s supreme sacrifice occurred at the time of the Passover, I was determined to fully understand the operation of the Hebrew Calendar. After not finding any good Christian commentary on the subject, I then turn to Jewish sources. What I discovered was the greatest discovery I made in my life! Passover is indeed the cornerstone day of the only divinely instituted Calendar! Passover always occurs on the day of the first full moon in Spring. The true Hebrew Calendar is reset about 7 times every 19 years to essentially make sure that Passover always occurs at the appropriate time which is the time of the first full moon in Spring. Passover is appropriately and indeed is the central day in this Calendar!
It is a great and glorious truth that Jesus is indeed our Passover Lamb (1 Cor 5:7-8)! I challenge all believers to read and reflect on what is really the correct and glorious interpretation of John 12:28!

I think the view of it being a "Jewish Holiday" is what separates so many. I have been mistaught that Christians are no longer to follow "Jewish holidays" because Jesus ended those, as well as the law. Reading the supposed verses that support this belief are taken out of context, and God told Israel these were to be celebrated forever by Israelites AND the foreigners among them. Paul calls Christians grafted-in Israelites. It is for us, too. 🌿❤️

On Passover, what does that lamb chop sitting on the dinner plate represent? A Sacrifice?
“Eating things sacrificed unto idols”- What does this mean? Christmas turkey dinner, right?
What are we told about the mixing of the holy with the profane?

We are blessed to have the education today on Passover. Our Gentile forefathers did not have these insights. To paint blonde hair is just ones culture . It is not a comment of Western values. Is it true that King David had red hair?
Or that one of the tribes actually were often blue eyed?
We are blessed to now have scripture.
Thank you for the teachings on the Passover.
In our Methodist church as I grew up we were given many of these insights. But it is nice to hear of extra. Traditions. Eg the four cups. …

Rabbi, I may have missed it if you've previously spoken on it...but I'm interested in the Hebrew Jubilee year and your perceptions on this being the return of Yeshua at the Feast of Trumpets. Not trying to "pinpoint" anything, but to keep my lamp filled and ready for the Bridegroom. He said once, "If you knew the signs, you'd KNOW ME." Just striving to be awake and not caught asleep. ❤

The Torah is clear. Passover is a feast of the lord, it doesn't say "jewish feast". Rav Shaul taught that a true jew is that person who is in his interior a jew meaning that who has the faith of Abraham which is that God has the power to resurrect the dead.

Maybe this was the scene before Passover When the Apostles were with Jesus still preparing for the Passover. The last day of leavened bread to be eaten. On Passover was not Yeshua crucified to coincide with the lambs blood on the wooden door posts? Maybe the burnt parts of the wafer represented Yeshua's Lashings that He received for all of Our sins not just the slavery lashings.

    • @joanmavima5423

For Jews the day begins at sundown. So the evening that Jesus shared Passover, he later went to Gethsemene to pray, where he was betrayed to the soldiers, and taken to the High Priest and Pontious Pilate to be questioned ( when Peter denied him three times) then was crucified in the morning. That was all on one day. So it was still Passover Day.

He was a type of Elijah. Like Elijah he was a prophet who lived in the wilderness, ate what God provided ( locusts and honey) and called out sin and the need to repent. Elijah will come , as Malachi says, before the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord which is at the end of days when God pours out his wrath.

@@BillEngrave also, while you are making fun and getting mad, the Sabbath now is celebrated as a remembrance every Friday evening. The Bible says the seventh day. To find the Sabbath it would usually be the day before the New moon. New moon being the first day of the new month. Follows most of the time the previous day would be the seventh day or the Sabbath. We are all waiting for Messiah to put things back in order I however believe the Messiah has already come.

Acceptance of alcohol in any form is a wrong. We need to learn from the example of Daniel and companions. In a world where children are taken from their families in practices of forced adoption/human trafficking, only to be used to save some-one else's marriage without regards to how those children's lives are effected by drunkard adults. Legal archives are records of our age and they've become burdened by certain practices of behaviour tied to alcoholic beverages. I prey that people open their eyes the way the prophets eyes were opened to an issue that's plagued humanity for centuries. Like a wise man once said "We need to reject modernity, whilst at the same time embracing modernity" and part of that is knowing the now. What we should learn from the Passover is what needs fixing and that's a very important reason for remembrance. Thank you once again Rabbi.

Just a comment from a follow believer. Jesus last dinner was not the passover in my opinion. Jesus is our passover lamb and died when the passover lambs were slaughtered, that is ad noon on 14 Nisan. Passover meal is to be eaten that evening, the start of 15 Nisan. Therefore no mention about lamb during the meal. Jesus last supper was on the Tuesday evening (start of 14 Nisan), prosecuted, crucified and died before the start of the feast of unleavened bread, a high Sabbath. Why do I say Jesus died on the Wednesday? Jesus entered Jerusalem on the Sabbath, 10 Nisan - lamb selection day. If Jesus died on Friday, then 10 Nisan would be on the Monday. No palm Sunday. The original lamb selection in Exodus was on 10 Nisan, a Sabbath, I f Jesus is our passover lamb then he would enter Jerusalem on the 10th and be sacrificed late on the afternoon on the 14th. Then Jesus rose after 3 days and 3 nights, that is Jesus rose on the Sabbath, the Lords day. Again Friday to Sunday does not work.
We Christians should celebrate Jesus last supper on Tuesday evening, and remember Christ crucifixion on the Wednesday and celebrate His resurrection on the Sabbath.

17 Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.” ’ ”
19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover. Mathew 26:17

Rabbi Jason Sobel, not to be critical but if the Passover was on Thursday how could Yeshua be in the grave 3 days and 3 nights?

    • @RabbiJasonSobel
      @RabbiJasonSobel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Shalom, Questions are good. Many people have asked for clarity to the questions of “3 days and 3 nights” that Yeshua was in the grave from my most recent Reel and being 8th day people. Here is a link to a fuller explanation. th-cam.com/video/tkpdrmnX1r8/w-d-xo.html
As we count time, 3 days and 3 nights for most equals 3x24 hours each. So the time between Yeshua’s death and resurrection: the space from the middle of the day on Friday (when he was crucified) to early on Sunday morning (when he was seen alive) doesn’t fit what modern (western) believers may understand as 3 days and 3 nights.
However, by Jewish law they counted the day on which any period began as day 1, and they did the same with the day on which the period ended. So it doesn’t matter that Friday and Sunday were not full days. According to counting at that time. It was never a required 72 hour period.
Matthew Jesus “on the third day” rose (Matt 16:21) and “after three days” (Matt 27:63). “Three days and nights” (John 2:1)
In early Jewish law, only after three days was the witness to a person’s death accepted.
A couple additional sources speak to this as well; scholar Leon Morris in his Commentary on Matthew 12.40 and Craig Keener's Bible Background Commentary (IVP) on this same passage.
