Southern style Blueberry Cobbler

- New Orleans native Charlie Andrews demonstrates how to make a Southern style blueberry cobbler. It has a top and bottom crust and is made with fresh blueberries. This recipe calls for 8 servings. It's comforting, goes well with vanilla ice cream and it's absolutely delicious. Hope you all will give this recipe a try.

A cobbler is a versatile dish. It can be a batter, a biscuit dough, or a pie dough with a fruit filling and baked. It can also be served warm or cool. In the southern US, especially within the black community, the cobblers have a top and bottom crust very similar to a pie, hence the same "Southern style". Another example pot pies is that it can have a biscuit dough with no bottom crust, or it can have a top and bottom pie crust. Hope this information helps. Thanks!

Cousin.. I had to come back and say WOW!! I made myself a very small apple pie. I always get raves about my apple pie. However,, I always used store brought pie crusts. This time I made a single crust, halving your double crust recipe. Your crust recipe took the pie to another level. My small ceramic pie dish, makes 2 nice size servings. I promise you, the crust is so flavorful, tender and flaky. I can see a sweet potato custard and pecan pie, coming up real soon.
I used EXACTLY 1cup of AP flour, less a pinch of salt, 2teaspoon of sugar mixed well. Then I cut in using 2 forks 3 tablespoons each of unsalted butter, and plain shortening. I used 3 tablespoons of ice cold water. Mixed well. I refrigerated the crust for 30 minutes. Rolled out as instructed and pricked both top and bottom crust as you suggested. Now, I can have pie anytime. I have also purchased a small bundt pan. I'm going to eat wonderful homemade desserts, thanks to you!! Just wait until I am able to measure out your carrot cake recipe to fit my pan😊. Thank you again for sharing. I now can have desserts again, without buying small pies from the freezer section of my local grocery store. You have no idea how wonderful that is.🙇♀️

Charlie, this brings back memories of my grandaddy. He would send me & my sister out to get blueberries & blackberries so he could make us some homemade blueberry cobbler 🥧and🥧 blackberry cobbler.
