Thank you so much!!! I have the exact same TRD Off Road-even the same color! I was killing myself trying to troubleshoot this problem and you saved me! Thank you, brother!
Yes!!! As a new 4runner owner I can't thank you enough for helping me solve this! I was thinking I somehow already blew a fuse and that's just didn't seem right.
Thank you times a million. Snow predicted for tonight and of course got into car this morning and neither rear defroster nor back windshield wiper worked. Was going to look at fuse, but then saw your video. Had a car wash yesterday and it must have been hit just right to leave it open like you said. Closed it and works like a charm. Thanks again for saving me time, money, and a headache!!
Quick fix! I could not tell that the rear window on my 2008 Sequoia was not completely closed. Thank you so very much for the suggestion and saving me time changing fuses!
OMG! I was having a stroke as I have just recently bought a 2023 4Runner and I love the vehicle but did not have a good experience with the dealership. I was sick just thinking of having to go there with a problem already. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I will be watching for anymore 4Runner videos you do to help me learn more about my new vehicle! Thanks again!!
I'm from sudi Arabia I've been suffering from this problem for long time and I found no solution until I watched your video and really it's worked ! Thank you so much
I was going crazy. On my way to work this morning. Because I couldn’t defrost my mirrors or back window. I pulled over, googled, and your video came up. So helpful. Such a quick fix. Thank you for posting.
I have been wiping my mirrors every morning with a microfiber towel because my defroster hasn't worked in WEEKS and I kept saying I'd get around to it but got stuck in the habit of wiping the mirrors. Now it works again, you sir are the best.
Like the many others, I too failed to recognize my rear window was just slightly opened and couldn’t figure why the heck my rear wiper wouldn’t work! Thanks for posting this brother!
I watched your video and did not think this was the problem. I had previously inspected the area under the hood, looked at the connection, and never saw any gap where the window was open. I thought this is too easy and probably not the reason but was in shock to find this was exactly reason it wasn't working. Thank you for posting this video.
My wife just came in and said hers wasn't working. Watched this and asked her if her window was rolled all the way up? Well it wasn't and everything works fine now. Thanks for the video.
We’re driving in the snow right now and your tip about checking to make sure the rear window was all the way up made ALL the difference! Now we’ve got defrost and wiper going for a safer ride. Cheers!
I have looked up on how to change the windshield wiper rear motor couldn’t find out then I got your video on what the problem could be and suddenly remember I opened my rear window a few days ago and went outside and lifted the rear window a bit and suddenly the rear wiper worked . Thank you for solving the problem for me it was and easy fix and didn’t cost me anything Thanks again . Jack
Wow! Last night it snowed while driving home and both the rear defroster and wiper were not working. I tried all different heating settings and nothing. I thought maybe it was frozen, so this morning after it had been in the garage all night, I tried it again and still nothing. Then I found this video and BINGO they both worked like a charm, that is, after I rolled up the window.. LOL. Thanks for the video.
OMG Thank you!! I was looking at the fuse diagrams thinking I had blown a fuse somewhere and was about to spend a bunch of wasted time pulling and testing fuses. Saw this video and thought... you're kidding me. It's that simple and stupid? Yep. Fixed it immediately.
We have a 2021 4runner and found an additional oddity... If the window lock control was engaged, not only could we not operate the rear window but we also could not operate the rear wiper or washer. At first I thought the window must have been slightly cracked like you said, but even after rolling it all the way up we discovered that the window lock function prevents operation of the wiper for some reason. Very strange, but thank you so much for the helpful video!
Dude!!!!!! You just saved me a very expensive (I expect!) And totally pointless trip to the garage. So simple and had me totally stumped! Can't thank-you enough for this!
Thanks so much, It's crazy how I bought a brand new 2023 Toyota 4Runner, drove it for almost a year with what I thought to be a broken rear windshield wiper. Now I know better 😂😂😂. Thanks again
Just tried your solution on my 2008 4runner after my defroster and wipers stopped working. It worked!! I must have tapped my rear window switch by mistake some time ago. I figured it was a fuse! Thanks. 😁👍
you just helped me fix my 4Runner TRD off road which had the back window open ever so slightly and I did not notice. All other wipers were working so knew it likely was not the fuse. Thank you thank you you saved me a trip and expense of going to the dealer.
This video is very helpful! I take really good care of my 2018 4Runner and all the sudden I experienced this problem. Thought it was electrical. This video was so helpful! Spot on targeting the root cause. Saved me a trip to a mechanic!
Thanks for the video. My wife (who normally drives the 4Runner) has more than once dropped her purse on that rear window button and just opened it just a bit (who made the design decision to put that button on top of the center console? I also sometimes find my ass on fire when she accidentally turns on the heated seats). Anyway, she never notices the rear window being slightly open. However, when I drive the 4Runner and open/close the rear hatch, I usually notice that rear window vibrate upon closure. I did that the other day at the park and ride after loading up our luggage. So I rolled up the rear window. HOWEVER, driving down the wet road, the rear wiper still did not work. Once I got home and started looking at fuses and this video, I tried rolling the rear window down and back up and now everything works. Thanks again for the hidden switch insight.
So glad I found this video. We had the same problem and was convinced it was a fuse. Quick pull of the switch and problem solved. Thanks for posting this!
Can't Thank You enough for this video, you saved me hours of possibly chasing down a fuse that wasn't even bad!!! just 30 seconds and I'm done, fastest vehicle fix ever!!!
Yay! Thank you! I have a brand new Toyota 4 Runner TRD Sport....I couldn't figure out why it stopped working. Thank you so much for your informative video 🙂
Thank you, I just changed the battery on my 09 4runner and the rear wiper, spray, and defrost weren't working. After checking the fuses and they were good I found your video and rolled the rear window all the way down then all the way up and presto everything started working again. That trick also works for the auto down and up drivers window after a battery swap.
I am very appreciative to you, my friend, you really helped me. I didn’t know what was happening with the car for 3 days. But now everything is done at once! 👊
Thank you so much. Drove me friggin' crazy. I was just about ready to give up and start pulling fuses. The manual doesn't mention the issue but it makes sense when you think about it.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I was looking for a blown fuse but couldn’t find one. This video probably saved me around $100 for an “electrical diagnostic fee”
Dammitt, this worked! But I just spent the last half hour twisting my neck under the front console pulling fuses trying to get my rear wipers to work again, only to find out the window was slightly down! 🥵 Thanks for solving it for me. Doi!!!
Thanks for the video! I’m still having an issues with the fluid not coming out in the rear window. The rear window is all the way up and the fluid is working for the front window. Any ideas?
