  • Just picked up this RARE vintage rc car called the SG Coyote 2WD. This vintage rc car was a rare find, coming all the way from Italy! Back in the 80s, these were raced regularly in the european championships (or so I read). Make sure to watch to check out this vintage rare rc car design. This car also came as a SG Coyote 4WD and was later a predecessor to the Tag10 Coyote.

If you leave a like on this video, when you search through your garage you might find a vintage barn find like this waiting for you 😉

One thing I think is cool about all these 80s vintage RC cars is the wide variety of chassis, suspension, and motor configurations. Today most RC buggies, and SC trucks have a basic aluminum, or composite chassis pan, or tub, and almost all of them have a arm suspension both front, and back, with oil filled shocks on all corners. With scale crawlers it's a ladder chassis, with solid axles front, and rear, with most of the newest scale crawlers having the motor up front, like a real FWD vehicle.
The modern RC suspension, chassis, and motor layouts are much better, than what you saw in the 80s, with way better high speed handling, and climbing abilities, depending on the class of vehicle. Some of those downright wacky 80s chassis, suspension, and motor layouts were pretty wild, and fun if you were simply bashing, and not racing. Learning to drive some of those 80s RC cars was like trying to tame a wild animal with a mind of it's own, bouncing all over the place, and being able to do some pretty easy, and insane wheelies, even at slow throttle, and speeds. Keeping some of those RCs on all four wheels at high speed, and turning could be a challenge, but a fun challenge.

Yes it’s why I picked this up because it’s so unique! Nowadays everything looks the same under the body. Appreciate the comment 👍🏽

Neat car, I had the 4WD version back in the early 90's. Ran it a few times and was decent but shelved it then eventually traded it off along with a MRP Pro 110.

I remember what a pain in the ass this car was to put together. Compared to my Turbo Optima mid SE and my Hotshot, the 4wd coyote DOMINATED.

Just to help you out with some information on the SG Coyote. Originally designed to be a 4WD the company clearly thought it a good marketing idea to offer it as a 2WD rear driven and 2WD front driven option. Clearly a way to sell more cars with less parts, everybody really just wants the full 4WD car and collectors are known to pick up more than 1 example so they can build up a four wheel driven car. Also the box art you have in your video is not what we got when we purchased the Coyote. It was a pre-production concept which even utilised the AYK 566B body ahead of SG actually creating there own (looks a little similar but not the same). I had some experience with the car back in the 80's and it had some real reliability issues out of the box. Thank you for sharing your video

The funky interchangeable 2wd to 4wd layout is definitely why I picked it up. These have been hard to come by so I’ll stick with 2wd for now haha! Thanks for dropping by and sharing this info

Very well done video, just got some of the pieces to finish up mine, those kits were notorious for having broken or missing pieces from the get go

Good to see someone else own one of these. I’m planning to 3d print some parts to get it going later on down the road. Will give me piece of mind not breaking anything, parts are hard to come by huh

Done anything with the coyote yet?!? Every time I pick mine up thinking I’m gonna get it running there’s a new piece broken. It looks cool but what a mess man!

Nothing done to it yet, but planning on it soon. I am scared about breaking stuff too so trying to design some 3d prints that work, the plastic parts are so brittle

Just came here to look this car up after I seen it on Mercari. Looks like the same one. Gave up on the idea then?

Yeah maybe I can switch the body around and make it FWD, honestly this platform has a lot of versatility in setup I’m excited

@@JacobusRC well that's why my proposition is a good one, I can fix it up to its former glory and I'm paying you to do it and when you're ready to get it back, we can deal again. See? It's a win win for you. 😆
