i see you guys are still slaying bass over there! nice vid. i havent fished san clemente before but i have heard you can catch some monsters over there!
Great vids man I love the enthusiasm. He's got a lot of knowledge and instinct which makes a great fisherman. Kinda reminds me of a young Reed Timmer, I'm a weather geek too. Anyways really great videos dude.
ive caught way bigger bass off that island.. i worked there in the military mess hall..its a navy seal island im surprised u where able to get so close most ships have a limit of how far they can fish..i know all the spots there i hiked and fished the smoth rock beaches and and coves ..i used to fill a 5 gallon bucket in like 30 min easy..i let monsters go cz the hike was hell with so much fish..i really miss that place!!!i used a rootbeer kind of like that one with out all the fancy hammerhead but the hamerhead shit looks rad..iv got yellow tail and a gang of huge sheepheads too there..
Thats the right thing to do. nobody should have illegal catches anyways, that is why our fishing has gotten so much worse over the last 20 year or so. So good for Evan
hey you guys nice fishing you guys got there. do you mind telling me where the boat landing is? because i seen people catch some really nice calico and big yellow tail. so if you don't mind to tell me where the boat landing is thanks.
Hey evan what size warbait jighead are you using? and do you think an avet sx with an 8ft black classic seeker is to big to throw swimbaits with? Thanks
THIS IS ONE OF YOUR BEST GUYS. Even good commentary. You are improving. Don't you at least keep the ones that are badly hooked to eat? I have to admit I would have to eat one of those babies, they were to beautiful.
I'm wondering, how big your skiff is? Mine is 20 feet, looks like yours. Is that big enough to safely make the run to San Clemente Island, in your opinion?
@FreshwaterAngling Torque is important once a hooked fish settles into the fight, That being said, often with Calico Bass, you need to move your bait extremely fast to elicit a response. With a 5.4:1 reel, you really cant do so. Also, Calico Bass often run towards the boat when hooked, and I have seen quite a few big fish lost because anglers couldnt keep up with a hooked fish. I honestly believe speed is essential, and most professional saltwater anglers will echo that opinion.
Recommend an experiment for the guys wearing their hat backwards. Flip it around, facing forward and watch the shadow come across the eyes. Sunglasses do about 1/10 as much for the eyes as a forward facing hat. AND, you don't sunburn your face, amazing little known fact these days.
@dexterrussian14 Email this link to ESPN or Outdoor Channel, we need more CA fishing shows....SOMEBODY GIVE THIS KID A SHOW! Nice work out there....hHow often can you make it out to Catalina and SCI in your 19 footer? Or is it bigger than that?
My family has been very supportive of my fishing aspirations, and have helped me plant the seeds for success. However, I am not a trust fund baby by any means, and have funded Team Basstic TV through work with my sponsors, tournament winnings, and a regular 9-5 job. I have worked very hard to get where I am today, and I don't take anything for granted. You reek of ignorance and envy, get off the computer and stop dwelling in your own mediocrity. Thanks!
why do you watch his videos then,if you don't like Evan don't watch the videos you cant blame or knock him if he comes from money not his choice ,but he took KELP ROCK AND DOCK to mainstream america and got sponsors so how about you get off the couch and go be a productive member of society
so your are mad because he's more successful then you? and even if his parents are wealthy(I don't know if they are or not) when did that turn into a bad thing. I am sure if you were wealthy and successful, which is never going to happen, you would want to help your children out with what they love. Don't hate on him just because your life is horrible and you have to wake up every morning to the fact you are going know where in life.
These fish are way, way over compensated for size... The big one you caught toward the end was 4 lbs at best. There's way too much talking and very little fishing action
Growing up in Socal and being stationed up in WA, you guys make me miss fishing the kelp all that much more. Awesome channel and info. Keep it up!
i see you guys are still slaying bass over there! nice vid. i havent fished san clemente before but i have heard you can catch some monsters over there!
Very cool vid!!! Better than any fishin shows on tv!!!

Great job guys! keep wettin a line. This is how we do it in Cali. whoya...........!

Good vid. Thank you and keep 'em comin'
@DavidC5771 Yes, we are using 300E, 300EJ, and 200E7 Curados in this video
Awesome vid you guys!! just curious what type of boat do you guys have?
Glad I found thebassboyz, lots of really great information you all are putting out. What size and model boat are you running? Motor? Keep it up Evan!
nice song to start of with
hey you guys nice fishing you guys got there. do you mind telling me where the boat landing is? because i seen people catch some really nice calico and big yellow tail. so if you don't mind to tell me where the boat landing is thanks.
hey would a 5.4 gear ratio be fast enough for grinding the swimbaits like this? thanks for the info guys and keep up the nice work
What's the closest you can get to the island without trouble? Good video.
@thebassboyz thanks i know you said your using a 300 and 200 size curado, but for calico bass fishing in general what size do you prefer.
Awesome Vids! Thanks for sharing
with the waxwing are you fishing straight braid? and are you using a flouro for swimbaits?
How old are you guys? Great video.
Hey evan i was wondering if u can tell me an affordable but good setup for fishing plastics.
This video rules!
Hey evan what size warbait jighead are you using? and do you think an avet sx with an 8ft black classic seeker is to big to throw swimbaits with? Thanks
@badbass94 I prefer a 6.2:1 or faster baitcasting reel for fast winding swimbaits. A 5.4:1 reel might work if you have super human winding powers!
hey evan do u know were they do small boat charters for calico bass???
THIS IS ONE OF YOUR BEST GUYS. Even good commentary. You are improving. Don't you at least keep the ones that are badly hooked to eat? I have to admit I would have to eat one of those babies, they were to beautiful.
How long is your boat and what size motor is on??
I'm wondering, how big your skiff is? Mine is 20 feet, looks like yours. Is that big enough to safely make the run to San Clemente Island, in your opinion?
I'm new to fishing, and I'm wondering what kind of rod you are using?
what do you think i should use for calico off shore in dana point habor in the sand bed?

Reel type? Are you using Curados?
r u using medium heavy action rods
R u on the west side of the island

how often do u breakoff in kelp
Damn buddy ! Long time ago
whats the rod your using
@BECKFEARNLEY best match for that would be a Shimano Crucial 7'11 H or Shimano Teramar 80MH, and load up your reel with 50 or 65 lb. Power Pro
@dexterrussian14

That voice and lip combo tho
Just wondering what makes someone so angry for no apparent reason. Any thoughts?
@iiiiii11iiiii I threw back Southern California's greatest gamefish!
sorry Evan good commentary.
Google is your friend.
What's up with all the rudeness...now I know why peeps disable comments being made on their page.
