Wolverine was used as a 'punching bag' because he was the only character to be in every 2D "Marvel" fighting game from "X-Men: Children of the Atom" up to "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3". I'm not against him or anything. He's actually one of my favorite characters. :)
Favorite?! This game is just a rehash of the X-Men Vs. SF game. There aren't any newly drawn characters, or even a new boss. Same old Apocalypse. 😒 The announcer kicks ass though.
You know what doesn't make sense? For most hyper combos, the announcer reads the move name as it's on the screen, but for all the secret character exclusive moves (and a couple of other moves from regular characters), the announcer just says "hyper combo finish". The only exception to this is norimaru, where the announcer reads the move names, but it's very hard to hear.

7:22 this move is called "shining gou shock". This move is the only one out of cyber akuma's hyper combos, where the name makes no sense, considering the move itself, and the names of his other 3 hyper combos. His other hyper combos are "high mega gou beam" which is literally akuma's messatsu gou-hadou, "scramble gou punch" which is messatsu gou-shorryu, and "thunder gou shower", which is messatsu gou-zanku. The names may be confusing, but they make a bit of sense when you take into account the part after the "gou", since you get beam, punch, and shower. But then, shun goku satsu got replaced but "shining gou shock". If you look after the gou, it doesn't help, since the word after the gou is "shock". They could've went with hyper gou strike. Sure, strike is used in a few hyper combo names already (namely dhalsim's yoga strike) but it makes more sense than shining gou shock, since he hits the opponent multiple times in rapid succession, then strikes them down one last time. Hyper, would mean quick. Strike means hit. He's hitting the opponent very, very quickly. But what do you think? Do you think the name makes sense? If so, leave a reply and tell me how "shining gou shock" is a sensible name for this move.
He used a PSX demo version of it that why it's in yellow. I have the PSX vanilla Japanese version of it and it was in cyan color just like the PSX American version.
Well, he's a boss character, created by Apocalypse. But I will admit that the battle against Mech-Demon is pretty unfair in the PlayStation port of this game, since it's been watered down to one-on-one instead of two-on-two due to limitations. In the Saturn and Arcade versions, it's a little more tolerable.
I've only been fortunate enough to get the endings to maybe 8 or 9 endings in the playstation port of this game. I hate cyber akuma. Even fighting him on easy is way too hard. Then again I haven't played this game since around 2001-02.
So, i'm gonna give a summary of the secret characters. Armored spider man. Literally spider man, but with armor, while on the ground. Mech zangief. Same thing as armored spider man, but with zangief, and the armor is up all the frickin' time. Mephisto. blackheart, but with some fire power. It does kinda make sense. Mephisto is blackheart's father after all, so of course he's gonna be slightly stronger. Dark/sunburnt sakura. A mix of sakura, and akuma. The combo nobody needed, but a welcome one. Shadow. Let's be real. Shadow is the only secret character in this game who is close to original. He's charlie (or nash) but completely black. All his moves have "shadow" in the name. Us agent, the og captain america (yes. Mephisto isn't the only secret character with lore. John f walker took the place of captain america while steve rogers chose not to. Once steve decided to become captain america, john kept the suit and the shield, but changed them. Afterwards, changing his super hero name to "us agent". However, that's only in the comics. The mcu is an entirely different story) He's slightly faster than captain america, but besides the black suit and shield, that's it.
I forgot they took out Chun-Li’s air super for the console games. I came here looking expressly for that. It’s too bad. Edit; the moves name is Shichisei Senkuu Kyaku
That Super Special is in "Marvel vs. Capcom", both Arcade and console versions. I believe it's also in "Tatsunoko vs. Capcom", both Arcade and Wii versions.

Double Atomic Buster is Crossover Combination Finish (Variable Combination Finish in the Japanese version) , which were not possible on the PS1 version of the game.
