    Addendum:
_"To add a little coda on the "collaborative" nature of that cover art: I was the one who put together the cover art by using that (slightly altered) BG painting and a silhouette of the characters, and did the general design (created the text block stuff at the top, etc). Of course Jim Campbell drew the little phonograph symbol. And Branden did a final pass on adjust everything (the text colors, final fonts, sizes, etc.) to make it all look good before we were finished. So anyway -- yes, quite a collaboration, haha."_

I love this so much. As someone who has also spent a lot of time researching the show and talking with people who worked on the show, I appreciate your work and grounded sensibility. I know how silly it can feel caring so much about something that was just another job for some of the people involved, so again I appreciate this so much.

This is such a lovely walkthrough of a process that I see on a day-to-day basis. And it's never really detailed when working in marketing what all the design steps for me were, the initial creative proposal, what the story-boarders went through, producers/project managers that made a thing actually happen? So many things that end up in your hands took a village to make. And I wish we had more of these 'lightning strike' moments like Over the Garden Wall where everyone just got to make what they wanted to with minimal interference. Because there's a reason why every element of it, from press kits, to the show itself, to the fact that Cartoon Network a decade later are saying "This was special enough for us to invest on a stop-motion 'thank you' to fans".

Great observations! I agree, it dawned on me several times to varying degrees just _how many_ people were involved, it's truly staggering. And the organization to have all those departments and professionals communicate and stay on budget and schedule while working on other projects at the exact same time. I literally can't wrap my mind around it. I think with OtGW and how well Tome was receieved, I reckon a lot of trust was put into Pat and everyone else so they could have that freedom to be more unique and explore more within the world and influences.

thank you so so much for this! I'm obsessed with the networking chaos of this show and how it seemed to have just happened by convenient circumstance every step of the way. at the concert it really put into perspective how fragmented everything about this show was! it felt even more wonderful seeing how there were many songs that they performed for the first time ever that night!
