- How drone operators could estimate the weight of a decoy by just looking at it, why Russians build fake camps of theatrical proportions that are extremely easy to spot by Ukrainians, how candles were used to trick the enemy into wasting their ammunition, and why Russian decoy tanks are nicknamed Rubber Product #2, is #NotWhatYouThink #NWYT

What did you think of that ending? 🤓
Wait gotta watch first I will come back after I watch the ending
unexpected
@@AmericanInvictusit’s only been 8 minutes how do you watch a 14 minute video
Didn't expect that.
Weird
Soon they will they cover a real tank with an inflatable rubber skin to make it look like a decoy.
Sounds like a damned-good idea!
I thought that too
It's odd that you say that... The British in the African Campaign of WWII substituted functional tanks for the wrecks at the side of the road that had been there for weeks.
Shhhh
3:13 *"What did you do during the war, Grandfather?"*
*"I blew up tanks."*
“Inflated tank.” Now that would confuse the kid for sure
😂
_Son, have you ever heard of aeromorphs or inflation porn?_
_That's basically what I made for the army_
Attacking mannequins would be such a mind fuck
Makes me think of nuketown. As well as other maps training Americans to disregard mannequins as targets.
@@matthewxavier8067 They use decomissioned but otherwise REAL vehicles as targets. Damned Good Idea!
@@matthewxavier8067 "Nuketown" wasn't to desensitize soldiers, those fake cities were designed to test the effects of a nuclear detonation (hence "nuke"town). This is important for strategy so you know how far away you need to space your critical facilities so you can determine how many ICBMs you need to intercept for a region to have a probability of remaining functional after the attack.
12:13 it resembles a grave, so it will work no matter what happens 😂😂
Now using mostly intact but otherwise non-functional/unrepairable equipment as decoys is a damned good idea. A bit of welding, some paint, and some weathering, and it will look like its operational.
Example: shell of a tank with internals/engine removed. used anti-tank tubes on faked emplacements, etc.
That was a freaking good mortar concealment
H@@Dr.Kay_R
The first time decoys made a massive change was during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. Back then, wood models of airplanes were made in 1:1 scale, painted with original paint (MiG-29) and the engine "exhaust" was made of one metal barrel cut in two. Also, the wooden model would be padded with tinfoil and fires would be burnt in cut barrels at the back. That way, it would have both radar and heat radiation making it pretty much impossible to see as a decoy. Also, false radar positions with fake radiation sources were made in order to divert HARM missiles from real ones. And so on...
14:12 Only one can provide real protection

Neither, to be honest. Just ask Putin, Shoigu, Gerasimov, Lavrov... (should I go on?)

"A very smart chinese man". Fyi he mean Jackie Chan
Jackie chan is from Hong Knong.
The word "chinese" is more for the people and ethnicity than a specific country that gave us covid clusterfq
I used to like Jackie Chan until he became a politician. He had some wild statements. Like asking why anyone needs freedom when the government can tell them how they should live their life.
No, jack ma
jackie chan is ccp endorser so i really doubt that
Fun fact general Patton was the published leader of the inflatable army after and as part of his punishment for slapping a shell shocked soldier.
You are correct. Dummy / inflatable equipment dated back in ww2
@@kanthanesankandiah760was the " dummy" the guy Patton smacked?
This was real interesting, thanks 👍🏼
Reminds me of that image of a MTLB apc being mocked up to be an Abrams in the Middle East, maybe in the future we will see remote controlled tank mockups to be used as decoys
Definitely will happen in the future
I was thinking that too. They'll have to come up with a way of making tracks on the ground with the decoys. Maybe only drive them on roads?
2:21 Wrong, this was based on a report of the russian MoD saying that they have destroyed 44 Himars...and two Himar systems. On that day, they meant the ROCKETS as they have hit a ammunition depot. There was confusion in social media, mixing up everything, but it was clear from the beginning what was meant.
Sure😂 that's what they meant. After the world realized they had the facts wrong and then they decided that is what they actually meant
@@douglasbillington8521 Nah hes right on that one, the guy making this video literally used a source which stated they never said that. It was just social media that run with that narrative, im far from a pro russian guy but it is what it is this time
Wow, great explanation. I never thought of it this way.
This was very informative! Thanks
Great ending! But I wanna know how close to Moscow they can push that horse!?
❤😊 1:09 1:10
That was probably one of your most interesting installments yet!
Where do you get all of your information? I noticed that clips were from respective ministries, but you were citing quotes from people, corporations, etc.
Great job!
What sources?if you want sources only a few channels give sources. The duran and the new atlas give all of their sources beceause well.. they are just citing factual information backed up by data and history of the matters and how they came to be etc. I stopped watching this channel beceause of it. No links no nothing. Not even a reference to a source
This information not trustworthy.
E.g. he states it was claimed that 44 "himars launcher" were destroyed, while showing the article as his source, but the article reads that 44 himar missiles were intercepted, not launchers.
I love these videos.
How is something that armies from around the entire world have done continuously in basically the exact same way for thousands of years suddenly "a real game changer."?
That's what I'm wondering, but it's a game changer for ukraine
It's not a game changer, it's part of the game. You know there's gonna be decoys, but if you can't tell them apart you'll probably not take any chances.
One is reminded of Sherlock Holmes' head decoy in The Empty House and The Mazarin Stone.
you make very interseting and good videos kepp it up
These videos always describe something exactly as I thought it was.
There were wooden HIMARS decoys known before the inflatable ones.
And you can pretty much guarantee that AI models will include decoys in their training as real targets, because it's already hard for humans to distinguish between real and decoys. We'll probably see a transition to more complex decoys as weapon systems start to have multi-sensor integration. Right now, very few weapons or platforms will analyze targets with radar, IR, and visual.
that chinese ai that russia is using for satellite surveillance is actually able to distinguish between real and decoy. but nevermind, you probably also believe ukraine is winning.
And there is part of the problem. Simple decoys are cheap and quick to build. Even basic anti-tank weapons are not. Smart anti-tank weapons even less so.
@@onenote6619 and yet, a lancet only costs 20.000 $ and is mass produced. its enough to take out a M1A1 or Leopard 2A6

I need to get it and read it
@@andrewreynolds912 you can read it from free a simple google search should bring it up.

can u make more of this kind of videos?
4:06 the fucking lego man lol
Decoys make sense to me.😊
Subterfuge and chicanery were certainly covered by Sun Tsu's (sp?) "Art of War". Some of the quasi-quotes in this video are from his work. Feigning weakness can be extremely effective. Feigning d34th can be as well. I even used these concepts in my series of books ("Diamond Dragons"); most of the battles end up being won by... well... tricks and traps. 💪😎✌️
So at 11:30 ish, an easy fix for fake positions is to leave behind mines and cameras to monitor/trap the position for when they inevitably come use it
Decoys will be the first use of humanoid robots.
Surely a better use is a decoy that fights back, i.e. walking Gun Turret
Why bother with robots? Humans are cheaper/easier to replace. At least that's how Pootin would think.
@@douglasbillington8521 I doubt it even for Russia. Once humanoid robots are at a stage they can be mass produced, I'd figure for decoys each one would cost like $6k max. Not that many parts, most of the value is in the software. If they are partially destroyed and recovered the cost is going to be even cheaper for a decoy.
It works both ways
excellent video!!!
All they need to do is use heat signatures when confirming targets. 🙄
Genius. How are they supposed to do that, when they don’t have the tech on the battlefield 🙄
It is copyed too.... Air tanks is old tech. Not hard to copy heat signatures of a tank
@@leedex Russia and Ukraine both have thermal imaging. Russia is the third largest producer of night vision technologies behind USA and Israel (Israel mainly because their production includes American factories).
@@janhansen554and it's not as if all equipments are Online all the time.
A bit unfortunate to say russia claimed 44 HIMARS destroyed, and showing a quote saying they didn't claim that, otherwise a great video
you gotta admit they had to put atleast a little propaganda in it to make russia look bad
Yeah they claimed they intercepted 44 HIMARS rockets.
They did say that I literally saw it with my own eyes
@@cameronspence4977 Do you know what the original source of that claim is? It's a report given by Russian ministry of defence. A guy talking in front of a map. I'm sure if you try, you can find a version of it with subtitles. Then you'll see what he really said. The whole thing is a game of broken telephone where people intentionally misinterpreted what he said and it spread. So unless you saw the source, I don't think you can claim that you saw it with your own eyes.
its CRAZY how they dont spend the extra 100$ on each decoy to have
- A: Heating Pouches for the Inflatables
- B: Adding RC cars to the bottom of the tank tracks to actually move them for better decoy destruction odds
- C: Add fake radio chatter
Do you believe this video shows all the top secret tactics of the armies, and there is nothing else they might be doing that wasn't revealed to the world?
They have miniature RrC tanks that they use to distract at a distance, you can place a bao feng cheap radio inside one of rubber tanks and in daylight you dont have to use heating because its already hot in daytime. They move the decoys at night in different position
RC ? Then you need to spend more (time and resources)for advance control systems be able to work in radio suppressed environments.etc.
I have hemmaroids.

Great video. I bet the soldiers who think they've taken out a HIMARS only to find it was a decoy must feel a bit... deflated! 🤣🤣🤣
I'll get my coat...
Even the link this video shows clearly says that Russia didn't claim they destroyed 44 HIMARS. You can see it at 2:13
@@user-sk9fc5xl5n The video also shows decoy vehicles being destroyed, but don't let that get in the way of pedantry.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen decoys in pop culture. Like I can’t think of a single movie or game that uses decoys (in any realistic ways). Only one Incan think of is Mirage from Apex legends, but when it comes to vehicles the closest I can think of are decoy mechanics, like ”enemy units will target this other shielded unit first”, but rarely if ever have I seen a war game with inflatable decoys.
how you will hide power plants ?
Those inflatable HIMARS would make for a really cool bounce house for my kid's birthday party.
I like at 2:15 you point out saying Russia believed they had destroyed 44 HIMARS and then your source is literally a article which states "Russia did NOT say they destroyed 44 HIMARS just intercepted their rockets...
As usual it was exactly what I thought. So with that I think it's time to change the name of your channel to "It's exactly what I thought".

In the span of 3 hours ive seen you change the title at least nearly 3 times, why?
youtube allows you to put multiple titles for the same video nowadays
and the algorithm will try to promote the video to you with the different ones
It also makes it easier to spot the enemy
Imagine seeing a manikin that you got used to, to star and walk around, doing things. xD
That is the give-away. Mannekins don't move, real soldiers do. Teaching AI that fact may be harder.
"A very smart chinese man" lol
Sun Tzu wrote the art of war.
I would think inflatable decoys don't work nowadays because they are very obvious when looked at with a thermal camera (just a huge blob same temperature all around, pretty fake).
I guess there are not enough thermal cameras around then.
Heaters and generators have entered the chat.
Russians just hit a decoy Patriot so no, they work.
So on the reverse, why can't they put dummy profiles on the real ones to make them look fake.
well i haven't heard of moving decoys yet...so doing this would risk the life of whoever's driving the thing
No silly, when it's stationary, have a inflatable skin/cover to make it look fake @@spectre818
You are quoting the export cost of those weapons. In reality the RAF buy them for a fraction of that cost.
No War, Freedom World.
the decoys looks like the real thing, the real thing looks like a decoy, we use real missiles on the decoy, and decoy missiles on the real thing
But you see, when the Chinese mention decoys they actually refer to the mountain of failed copies that make most of their arsenal.

What if we made real things look fake
You could make a big rubber duck and put it on tank and enemy will think its decoy lol.
I bet you could disguise a real tank as an inflatable one fairly easily.
When Russia said it had destroyed x44 HIMARS they were talking about HIMARS missiles not LAUNCHERS. If you actually read the article that you showed on screen you would have known that. It was misrepresented what they said and the article as well as many other sources confirmed that. 🤦♂
The bell sound is way too loud bro. Use something better.
The himars decoy costs 100k
also - real things can have added effects to make them look like decoys....
Uh, if the THERMAL temp is no diff ... they it's not relevant anymore.

Decoy doesn't work all time, because both side have spy drone before strikes to target, they waiting target make move or shooting.
I suppose you could camouflage a real unit to look like an obvius decoy.

A new video nice.
We did this as well back in the 99 in Serbia and by putting oil barrels in open to be heated by sun so Nato atacked them on night with airplanes
So I’m Ngl based on how the internet tells me about the Russia Ukraine war, Ukraine is holding out pretty damn well.
I get the feeling that in Ukraine they are being incredibly strategic to make up for Russia being a colossal enemy that highly outnumbers them. But by the media they post, their soldiers have very high morale.
However I also feel that Russia is now beginning to make its dent on Ukraines forces and should soon overtake them. Definitely at a bigger cost than it’s worth what with I believe hundreds of thousands of casualties.
This is neither what to think is anything near representing what war, today, actually is.
La misma táctica que EE.UU🇺🇲 uso contra en tercer raid🇩🇪.
Yo the thumbnail just changed to a desperate one 😂
It's be easier to put rubbur coating on a real tank. Or cover everything thats real with fake product so they look identical to the fakes.
After watching too much Suchomimus i got so dumb that i forgot decoys exist and that contributes to Russia's inflated numbers for destroyed targets 😂
