This is really required to educate certain people who blindly like one brand over the other and will talk no sense just to prove their point. In the end we loose something to gain something, its personal preference which one we want.

      The problem with your argument is you think safety is optional and it is not.
      Indians are slowly realizing it and thus the blind love for Tata. But I can bet you that the day Maruthi can provide a 5 star hatchback or SUV, people will show that same love if not more towards the brand, till then you will see the "Tin ka dabba" remark .

      @@LogicalHindu24x7with the kind of pricing and cars in India, safety is optional for many...i do daily city travel 40kms and i drive at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph max. and that's how dense city traffic is. Max cars will be in that speed. I will need a car that can get better fuel economy, better engine, better servicing. I use Maruti Ignis. If Iam a regular Traveller over highways i would have definitely bought a Tata car or Mahindra as cars travel over high speed. So yes, with the kind of pricing and economy in India Safety will be optional. How many Uber/Ola you see tata?..all are max swift Dzire and at one point it used to be Toyota Etios...ask them sometime why the reason they come up is servicing anywhere anytime and engine reliability, these guys clock up to 6lacs kms and still engine is fine. But it's true Maruti is weak compared to tata. Hope with this upcoming Indian NCAP they improve.

      our safety is in our hand. I like light 4 cylinder maruti, being light braking is good there is less drag on turns and gives it fair acceleration with economy. I feel top safety of a car is its steering. You cant say if car is light it is unsafe. I donot understand why so much tax on hybrid cars, Better economy better performance. why not promote hybrid.

    VW had some cars wherein the cylinders can be shut-down when not in performance mode. Tata too have improved a lot. 2015-16 Tiagos had a lot of vibrations while idling which was reduced significantly in 2019-20 Tiagos. For Tigor, they even added a balancer shaft to reduce vibrations. Engine clatter was also reduced and is almost inaudible inside as opposed to older Tiagos and Tigors. Maruti-Suzuki 3 cylinders are the most "silent" as of now.

I believe that if the Nano was powered by a 3 cylinder unit instead of the 2 cylinder one it came with, it wouldn't have failed.

      I own a Altroz , But i still believe Tata engineering have no match to Suzuki/Hyundai yet , you compare a Nexon 3 cylinder with Venue 3 Cylinder , there is a huge gap , Also gear shifting is very rough. And no one knows what will happen with current tata cars 10 years from now , when very often we see Maruti /Hyundai cars in a good condition even after 10/12 years , And Engine/Gear is the heart of car, not the body or interior.
      Edit : If i go back 2020 , i will still buy Altroz XZ, As its looks best , Strong like a Tank , So Many features on less price , Premium and Spacious Cabin , only thing I compromised was proven track record of Long term reliability. I don't mind about Noise and Vibration , its manageable .

    I have a contrarian view of 3/4 cylinder engines. Having used all what i could infer is that lower the cylinder number, bigger the block and better torque per cc. Have you wondered why where scorpios and Fortuners (non 4x4) struggle you can see a loaded Alto or Maruti 800 pass them by with full set of passengers? 4 cylinders perform well for high speed zero gradient highway cruising. Even while riding bikes, what I noticed is that the initial torque and push of a single cylinder bullet KTM and the punchy push of a Ducati V twin cannot be compared to a silky smooth 1000cc 4 straight cylinder Ninjas or GSXs.. only the three cylinder Tiger 800 can pull from a lazy cruising pace to three digit speeds in a single gear, giving you the low end of a single or twin and the high sprint of a 4 cylinder.. the secret is the size of the cylinder and pushrod.. 4 cylinders have comparatively smaller blocks but can be revved to high RPMs without much vibration unlike the bigger blocks of comparable cc in 3 cylinder or 2 cylinder.. turbocharging a 3 cylinders pushes the output but drastically cuts down fuel economy... after owning straight sixes in petrol and diesel, regularly driving 4 cylinders now i have gotten into a turbocharged 3 cylinder 999cc i20 Nline.. and i am grinning ear to ear like never before..

    • @hermeslord
      @hermeslord ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Shreejansurya98 its simple, take 1000 cc and divide between cylinders, you get the idea size of the block and the resultant higher torque output of the long stroke output it can deliver per cylinder, of course the weight is an advantage but for sheer performance this is undeniable. That's why tractors etc still have single double and three cylinder configurations and are able to off road better than any 4wD

    The myth that 3 cylinder engines are underpowered is bullshit. If you are using a 4stroke engine, even a 1 cylinder engine of the same cc will deliver the same power in a more non linear way. The advantage of 4 cylinder is linear delivery of power and due to higher bore:stroke ratio can rev to higher rpms. But 3 cylinder engines are more practical due to reduced weight increased mileage and the ability and space to add on a turbocharger which makes the car more powerful than any other 4cylinder car. The turbo lag can be mitigated as in altroz by using a smaller turbocharger. In short 3 cylinder engines are less refined but more practical and at the end of the day give out more power whereas 4 cylinder is more refined and gives decent power
