I really hope that due to the pandemic, the government would be able to realize the importance of doctors and other medical professionals.

Med school is NOT for everybody. Becoming a doctor was my first choice. But after taking BS Med Tech at UST as my pre-med my perspective changed. Instead I migrated in the US in 1986, became a Clinical Lab Scientist, retire at 56, went back to the Philippines and open mg own business in 2015. I am now equally successful as my former classmates who proceeded to med school. I am glad i did not pursue my first love because as a businessman, i have more time and i make more money with less work.

    Why medicine?
-not because its the highest paying job in the world but its known to be the HIGHEST PROFESSION of the universe 👌

The income of a general practitioner in the Philippines is P1,500 a day to P3,000 or 20 or 40 bucks per day. I call the doctor's job, lowest paying job and hard job. We are educated to serve humanity, that's why Filipino doctors go abroad and work as nurse in the US. It is not about money; but money is the most important reason why we studied in med. school, our parents invested a lot of money in the education as well as the medical books. After graduation, when our parents already old and sick and need of money; it's frustrating we can not help them back, because we are the lowest paid profession who finished more than 10 years of education.

Good to know and hopefully it has changed. For medical books suggest studying in the library before going home which I did. There were prirate copies of Taiwan printed medical txtbooks during our time. I relied heavily on library. Took board exam without going for review class since I could not afford the fees. Lucky to pass the ECFMG which I took at Araneta Coliseum at that time. Did not go for review class either. I barely passed the grade school and high school at thet time. Failed Biology in High school and needed to take summer class in UE High School in order to graduate. For unknown reason, I somehow thought Medicine was easy and went into Medicine. Take Medicine if you feel it is best for you and easy for you to study. Got stuck in USA since I was denied re-entry visa back to Philippines due to Taiwan visa. Spent my first 24 years there. I am a retired MD here in USA. Grew up in Tondo.

Journey is long. But it is fulfilling.
You dont earn much unless and until you become a specialist. If you opt to be a general practitioner, dont expect to earn like a neurologist

I'm just a grade 11 student but I believe the whole point in wanting to go to medschool well aside from what others believe na *mayaman lahat ng mga doctor* talagang mas importante yung passion mo yung willing ka to sacrifice the following years in which you can actually enjoy kung ibang course lang yung kinuha mo the goal in choosing a course is to know and identify that passion which is most appropriate to you. Kasi kng iisipin kng pera lng ang habol doon ka sa course na mas alam mong kaya mo at mabibigay mo kng ano yung hinihingi sayo after all buhay mo yung nakasalalay dito at buhay ng ibang tao if your passion is to help other people you set aside that goal of being rich kasi for me the whole point of choosing med school is to change the life of others and ultimate change mine too. Haahaahah ps . I'm still considering med even though I felt like the cons outweight the pros either way I hope and I pray that I WILL BECOME A DOCTOR SOMEDAY 💖💖

Hi Doktaura, I am a Registered medtech, married and may isang baby girl. When I was young I wanted to become a doctor but when i had my pre med course and finished it I worked in a diagnostic laboratory lost interest in even pursuing medicine. My parents on the otherhand wants me to pursue Med. I have told them a lot of times that becoming a doctor will not give me money. I have to devote my whole life for it. I hope other parents should stop with the notion that doctors are rich and just give orders and sit around all day. I’m sick of hearing it. Thank you for giving straightfoward videos for everyone to understand. I will let my parents watch this to enlighten them. Keep making more videos! Stay safe! Doc!

i just wanted to share what I got as salary to world
1-As an intern- INR 7500/ month (approx 100$/month) total 1200 US $ anually
As resident MD- INR 55000/month (approx 720$/month) total 8640 US $ anually (now deduct 15% Tax) left with 7344 $ anually

  • @ktestable
    @ktestable 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Share ko lang:
Kung pera ang isa sa big motivations niyo para maging doctor, either maging general practitioner kayo or mag specialize kayo sa internal med or OB. Then mag duty muna kayo sa NEARBY hospital/clinic, kahit mababa ang sweldo basta madaming patients. Ang goal niyo is makaipon ng loyal patients at word of mouth. Pag madami na kayong patients na willing kayo dayuhin, start your own personal clinic. Make sure to set up large signage at mag advertise kayo.

Magkakapera ka naman din along the way bsta mag maintain kalang ng pamumuhay na average.. Maging contento kung meron man o wala... Kung passion mo talaga.Go lng... Hnd kaman magiging mayaman sa profession na pinili mo, atleast mamamatay kang naka ngiti at walang pinagsisisihan... Maraming bagay na hnd nakukuha ng pera ..

Hello, Rey Munar. Yun lang ang puedeng i pursue ng Filipino doctors sa US and sabi mong lowest paid specialties of Family Practitioners, Pediatricians, at Psychiatrist. Don't say it is lowest paid kasi kung makapasok ka sa residency training sa US which is difficult.

Hard working student but have a low self-esteem which can lead me to think what will be the result or that I don’t deserve to be a doctor in the future. a lot of teachers have told me that I am hard working and also good at taking responsibilities.
here’s the thing... no matter how hard working I am, I’m worried. I’m worried that after all the hardships my parents done for me especially if I take medicine I might end up failing. Is it worthy? Yes, it is. but how about the money they will spend? it might cost half a million just to persue my dreams. I don’t want to see them suffering and working hard just for me, just to persue my dreams, just to achieve it.
Tbh, sometimes I think about the other’s dream. a flight attendant, an architecture or etc. like..is it much easier to persue it? without costing a half a million of money that my parents will work hard for?
I actually don’t have a dream...but, in my second semester in my esp sub, A teacher asked us about our dream like those normal introduction to your new classmates. “What if I don’t have a dream po, ma’am?” I asked my teacher silently.. I already expect what she would say she’s like every other people out there “You don’t have a dream? that’s impossible” she answered me. it hurts... I thought she would comfort me saying it’s okay and think about something that interest me but, no. I just laughed when she asnwered with that ‘coz what can I do about it? cry? cry infront of her? NO.WAY.
that’s how I think about what interest me the most.
At first, I thought about being veterinarian then A flight attendant and turns out what interest me and what I love the most is learning new things about medicines.
This is my story. next year I’ll be a second year high school student hihi.
May I ask how did you deal with money in med school? I just don’t wanna make it too hard for my parents..

Aura Azarcon. You are welcome! I'm a big fan of yours and I have been for awhile. I'm sure you will do well in this field. You are passionate and very dedicated. Thanks for replying! BTW I'm really surprised at those numbers you gave. I guess we are all under the impression (wrongly I might add) that all Doctors get paid really well. Well, maybe later in their careers. I'm sure you will get there someday. Especially if you consider maybe practicing in the U.S. Doctors here make a bundle. :-)

Just re-watched episode 136 of PBB, remember that episode? That's when you told Kuya tunkol sa pinagdaanan mo as you worked towards your goal of becoming a doctor. It really broke my heart, a second time, seeing the tears in your eyes as you told your story. That's when I knew that you were heading for something big. That you will succeed in your aspirations. That's also when you won me over and became your supporter. :-)

Sila yung may policy na no money down, no treatment sa private hospital.

As a medical intern myself, di ka talaga kikita unless may license ka.. And to be frank YES may pera sa medicine. A General practitioner can earn a minimum of 4000 per 24hr duty. It could be higher if you were able to suture in the ER. You admitted patients. You do the medical abstracts. Another is to be a company doctor. You can earn as low as 3000 just by staying for 2hrs in a clinic. Professional fee ng general practitioner on average is 250-300pesos per patient.
