This comment I'll write in English, so everyone will understand. It's about another secret ingredient. I use a acrylic varnish diluted 50/50 with water. Use them before sanding, it will glue all fibers together and make your job much easier. It's very useful when leather is softer than you need. Next operations do it as is in this video. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing. Nice Video and technique. In terms of edge to surface color uniformity, have you tried to dye the edges the same color as the leather?
Thanks so much😊 Yeah, several times I’ve tried to match the color, but I’m not enjoying the final result aesthetically. I’ve found that the best result is with a bit different tone to have some contrast and also if you have contrast thread, the best way is to match edges with thread. So for example we have light brown color of leather, we sewed it with dark brown thread and the best color for edges is also dark brown. In this case the result will be more enjoyable from aesthetic perspective.
Hello. First of all, thank you for this beautiful guide video. I wanted to ask you something. Columbus brand wax and Saphir brand polish are available in different colors. Do these differently colored ones transfer their own colors to the skin edges? For example, when finishing the edge of a green leather, does using green columbus and saphir help the edges to be green? Or are their colors just for appearance?
Hey there! Thanks so much for kind words! So yeah, usually edges are much more lighter than actual leather color, more to natural tones. And different colors of Columbus wax help you to change a bit edge tone (not huge impact, but depends on amount of layers). About the Saphire, I’m using the clear one, but shoe maker who recommended me it said that yes, different colors will also change the tone of your edges and much better than Columbus wax.
Thanks a lot! Yeah, of course, if your goal is to make a smooth and glossy edges then 100% yes! Also if you painting your edges, you can also use a Saphir as a finish layer to add an extra shine👌
Thanks for the video. Have you tried safir mirror gloss and compared it to the polishing cream wax that you use? And if so what was the result between them?
Nah, it’s not like microfiber, it’s more thicker and flush. You can find the same, it’s also from Saphir, just search for a “Saphir polishing cloth”👌 before this cloth I’ve polished with a piece of canvas👌
Yeah mate, it’s a 30ml plastic container, and you can unscrew the top cap. So then simply by pressing and sipping you can fill it with 50/50 mix of tokonole and water👌
@@PirateGoods I just find it easier to get the results I want. It’s seems glossier but also more of a “burnished” look than a purely slicked look like I get with tokonole.
@@PirateGoods and what I meant by burnish in quotes is it kind of darkens the edges almost like their a little burnt. It sounds bad but I like how it looks. So may not be for everyone.
I did not expect to learn so many tips from this video, but I DID! Thanks for the secret step! Peace
That’s so cool to hear! Thank you for feedback! Hope you will use these little tweaks in your projects😊💪

Shell Cordovan!
