This episode was like a trip down memory lane for me. The Broughtons were our annual summer destination every year until Covid closed the border. Kwatsi Bay was always one of the highlights. We really enjoyed the hospitality and the potluck at the marina there. Sad that it's closed now, but I must say it's not really as decrepit as it seems. It was always a very funky marina, which was part of the challenge. That's almost normal up in the Broughtons. Lagoon Cove, Shawl Bay, Jennis Bay, Echo Bay - all are funky in their own way. That doesn't mean they aren't enjoyable. It's just that these marinas are left over from old logging camps. In fact Jennis Bay is still operating as a logging camp.
I hope you go to Nimmo Bay. To get there you cruise on MacKenzie Sound which is just drop dead gorgeous. The Nimmo Bay resort is really cool. If you are very lucky, you might get a dinner reservation in their dining room. It's a world class resort and the dining there is world class too. But above all, cruising on MacKenzie Sound is right up there with the Octopus Islands.
Loving your episodes! We had to sell our boat after 2020, but I still miss the summers going North.

Good morning, Elizabeth and Shawn. These last several videos from BC have been really beautiful. Elizabeth, I just want to say that you do a fantastic job with the editing, and your storyline scripts are spot on! As a fellow Seattleite, I know just how lucky we are to have such a plethora of stunningly beautiful cruising areas right in our backyard.
Thanks for the Sunday morning video. Now I need to plan a trip up to this area again😊

My brother and sister in-law were cruisers and we have been to Kwatsi Bay a few times with them. It is a wonderful place! We made friends with Max and Anca and kept intounch over the year. It was sad to learn that Max passed away a few years ago and Anca could not keep the marina. It is very sad to see the marina in disrepair. I have fond memories of happy hour and pot luck on the dock. Their daughter Marieke took us to the 1000 YO tree in there very small boat.

Thanks for another great video, I enjoy watching your travels! Last time we were at Kwatzi the owner was running across in front of the house with shotgun in hand as a very large cougar strolled across! So bears may not have been your biggest concern but glad you saw neither! Would love for you to do an instructional on flying your drone! Our group lost two of them this summer in the Broughtons! Looking forward to more! Best wishes and calm seas!

You are kids to us as we are old enough to be your parents. We totally enjoy your travels and are living vicariously through you. We have been boat-less since 2020. Our fur baby recuse is Dachshund/Jack Russell mix (not a good combo)and has had two disc surgeries since 2016 (we have a Ford Fusion in his back and neck) so we put our boating lives on hold. Our baby Willie is now 11 years old. We were not
blessed with children so or fur babies for our 48 plus years of marriage have been our total focus. All but our first fur baby, Maxie were boaters and we actually built one of or boats to accommodate there movements to the bridge (a sport fisher we built) We love watching your travels. At some point when we retire from our business we’re going back to the water. Thank you for sharing!
