True masters at work. I’m a roof slater/tiler in the UK where the majority of slate valleys are laid open with lead troughs. I’d love to get stuck into a rounded slate valley if I had the chance. Great job guys👍
Excellent work, mate. The guys at Style Dach Fischer have some interesting slate work on TH-cam. If you are interested I can send you some info I've gathered on the traditional German style of slate roofing. They are masters of almost flashing free roof installs. They also have some very ingenious ways of directing the water to drip from specific points on the individual shingles. That being said, I'd like to see some rainstorm videos of their roof to see this in action. Again, like your videos and love that you're keeping your father's legacy going.
Yeah that's what I was taught to swept Valley we didn't do it like that, We made the valleys tapered like a coffin, 4 or 5 Slates for The Valley, Also tapered a little bit at the top so they wouldn't mind, Valley slates or 2" longer than the field slates. I guess from a distance yours would look like a swept Valley

Same here mate roofer from the UK something like this would be brilliant to try, looks so much better aswell.
I mean, they steal lead too
At least this way the metal is not visible once installed

Outstanding!!
Great work. Bricklayer by trade but also a semi skilled roofer..wouldn't mind getting into traditional slate roofing.
Absolute fabulous work
We call it a swept valley in Scotland only ever done 1 at college same idea only the courses run in together at the tail of the slate nice 1
Nice job! What are those metal supports u use?
They are called roof jacks.
Is there not a sped up version love to woch it in normall time 👍
You need a day r 2 to watch that in normal time
Should the 2×1battens be over the membrane ? .
No battens needed as it is plywood under the felt.
You only need batten for tiles, slates sit flat
Do the two roofs need to be the same pitch?
How did you get the slates in where your boards were without using hooks?
You use a slate hook.
Is there a way to do it without the flashing?
Yes you can install these woven valleys without flashings if there is enough pitch.
be great if homowner would spend this kind of money to do it this way......................not here in ny
Would be even nicer if it fidnt have seperate bonding
