- Here we have 1980 ex-Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) GMC RTS-03 #3037 and ex-Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (LACMTA) TMC RTS-06 #2397 at Scott Richards' previous Regional Transit Service Yard in Riverside, CA. The operation has since been moved to another location and these buses are believed to have been sold off or scrapped.
Those RTS used to rumble and rattle up and down Holt Ave and valley Blvd thru Pomona CA for many years
Yes I remember sometimes The MTA bus would run crappy. You'll be lucky to find a decent running bus 🚌
True it seems to me RTD and MTA would sometimes use older equipment and not really maintain buses way I think they should. Well Least the RTD and MTA era 1980-2000. I recall a few RTS breakdown on the RTD route
End of a era with foothill Transit taking MTA 190/194 MTA service ended as far as bus goes no more RTS in Pomona CA
My Dad used to drive the Los Angeles MTA bus might of drove 2397
I member these buses I rode that Orange County one before it was fun love the Detroit Diesel sound with the 731 Allison transmission
I grew up with the RTS in my hometown of New York City. We had a huge fleet of them, the earliest versions with the Detroit Diesel 6v71, and later versions with Detroit Diesel 6v92 and DD50...
@@cleanairbus those were popular in New York, it stinks that we don't have those buses with that strong Detroit Diesel Engine
Yep, I grew up with those buses, they surely don't make them like they used to...
@@cleanairbus word on that, I wish these buses were still manufactured it has a lot of personality to it
5 of the 150 RTS buses that MCTS had in the day had a 6V92 Detroit Diesel with a 731 Allison transmission they where numbered 3220-3224
He trying to hard to turn 😂
My Dad used to drive those on MTA and RTD 484 Los Angeles Grand Ave and union St Union station Cal State Los Angeles USC medical center El Monte station City of industry Metrolink Mt sac walnut CA Cal poly Pomona Valley Blvd and Holt Ave to Taco Bell Indian Hill Mall Indian Hill Blvd and Holt Ave Pomona CA that was Old MTA 484 RTS and Flexible metros we're comon place from 1984-1995 Final years I think we had New flyer's Now Foothill Transit operates it modified Cal poly Pomona to EL Monte station as line 194 . MTA has left Pomona CA
So your father was out of Division 9 or Division 10?
Very cool!!
2397...dont even get me started on how SLOW that thing is!!
lol at 0:59 the second bus's small display on the right-hand side windshield proudly displays "ASS".
The ex-OCTA bus is a 1979, and the ex-LACMTA is a 1989.
lol nice ASS on the second bus! Just gotta love the sound of an old. GMC RTS
with yurs truly behind the wheel :-)
Did OCTA retired all of their RTSes?
I want to know more about those beautiful buses.
You can learn more here: www.rts-regionaltransitservice.com
Why did the Octa bus shows a certain word????
Hmmm, not too sure. I'm guessing that's the reading that the owner had on it....could have been for a movie shoot or commercial.
second bus second bus sounds awesome!!! it just weird to them have the exhaust on the top for an old bus with that type of engine, on the east coast ours were on the bottom until 1994 for NYC and 1996 for NJ (first tyme NJT ran RTS's)
and we have the flat back top marker lights as opposed to the pop up one's the west coast has
luvdat8v71 that's a EX-OCTA! I use that transit acency
That second bus is not an RTS-03 with a rear conversion cap. More likely it's a very early 04 model.
Transitphreak, you need to either get in contact with reginal transit, thats his screen name,or,go to the public auctions that sell these, you would need to contact the octa directly for info regarding that..
Sweet he got one from the mta!
Which MTA?
LOS ANGELES County metropolitan Transit Authority MTA
it's a GMC RTS dressed up as a NYC Transit GMC RTS, #3011 is the fake fleet number. Don't recall who the original owner of that bus was...
I love the smell of a RTS Exhaust.
They still do, don't they? Well, I guess Paul Revere has no money for new buses, or haven't found suitable replacements yet. Crystal Transport, however has all those MCIs and New Flyers, yet they still have their GMC lying around for trips and stuff...
yep.
Man that fisrt bus is slow. It has no power
Any idea what happened to these buses?
I don't think 2397 exists anymore, not sure about the OCTA bus.
2397 was sold in 2016 & became a party bus in Dallas, TX
2397is a slow thang...Drove it last weekend during the move...Dont want to drive it again lol...
what Motor/engine is on the ex-OCTA RTS BUS?
can anyone get a better view of thoes doors opening and shutting?
not really... just need to lock it with a square key.
Did anyone (like transit fans)aquire them for their own use?
@RamsgOHard Detroit Diesel 6V92TA w/ Allison V730
I wish I could drive that thing...sounds sexy....
@topper2142 N i TH0UGHT THEY WERE THE VERY FASTEST BUSSES EVER..:O
ASS on the OCTA one. XDD
