Man, that engine = the sound of my childhood. Reminds me of when I was a youngin' in the 80s and 90s, and I used to ride with my momma on the Rough, Tough & Dangerous
This really makes me wish the MTA held some of the rebuilt RTS-04s as proper museum buses (7004 for being the oddball to get a Series 50, one of the other rebuilds for this). Then again, those buses first hit the streets more than 10 years before I'd even been a thought...
6v 92 Detroit diesel-powered engines with the v731 Allison automatic transmission that's the best and only combination ever for those who don't know tmc means transportation manufacturing corporation they take over the rts for those who don't know rts meant rapid transit series from 1987-93 after GMC started it first in 1974 as a prototype and then they went in production in 1977-87 from T8J206 to the T80206 and then nova took over in 1993 and buyout the tmc bus company then the nova made the same buses as the T80206 they came with the Cummins diesel or caterpillar diesel engines and the dd series 50 engine with a b500 Allison automatic transmission because both GMC &TMC both came with the 6v 71 and 92 Detroit diesels with the v730 or v731 Allisonautomatic transmissions
Yes I remember my Dad drove this type Flexible metro on Old metro 484 I called them the Rattlers 😂 I got use to Yes. Or maybe just thought it was cool to be inside a Big bus with Dad 1988-1995 I want to say. Give or take. Anyway long time ago
Made for a exciting Ride bump bump bang bang ding no STOP REQUESTED VOICE BACK THEN 🟥 Red box STOP REQUESTED LIGHT'S UP AND A BELL. ➖➖➖✊ Pull the cord bus no touch the tape in them days

OMG! Flashback! Bring them back to Los Angeles County for 2023!
this will forever be my favorite bus. so many memories of childhood.
Long Beach transit had a fleet of these back in the 1980s and 1990s this bring back memories...
That take off at 0:50 OMG That Turbo kicking in!!!!
1992 NovaBus RTS TMC Engine Turbo Detroit Diesel 6V-92TAC rebuilt /VR-731-D
Just like NYC MTA's 1982 GMC RTS Remanufactured 7000s.
This will bring back my childhood memories when PVTA used to operate the TMC RTSs with the Detroit Diesel 6V-92TA engines.

+Calvin Crews I'm more of a 6V92TA/Allison HT-747 guy.
Ugh!!!!!!!! Damnit!!! I'm finished. Fantastic!!!!
I love this!!!
Cobb Community Transit (Cobb Link) had those buses in their fleet in Marrietta , Ga. so did MARTA in Atlanta, Georgia had a few.
These remind me of the Sprinter replacement service when the Sprinter was down!
We was down there with this bus
Excellent video. I wonder how he keeps the transmission in 3rd gear without going into the overdrive gear.
Sound like the engine used in the GMC RTS II buses from 1977-1980. Except the propane and CNG models .
Damn you Eddie at 2:28!
Very nice ride and bumpy 5:22 12:46 11:11 12:40 6:35 4:06
I'm guessing the whine when it slows down is transmission kickdown. Sounds kinda like a ZF mixed with a AT-545, I love it.
Old skool
WOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHH SHIT BOY DO I MISS THESE BUSES
Last time I rode in one was Halloween 1998 in San Francisco.
It's a Detroit Diesel Series 6v92T engines... Back in the 80's....
Of course, it's a '92 model..
These ran Downtown La and Hollywood along with the flexible buses

Sounds like the 1990-91 TMC RTSs NYCTA had
Hell yeah, I remember QV Depot used to push those things. Good times !!
Imagine eating cocoa pebbles on the bus. Way too funny
These buses usually shaked a lot in old streets with cracks and made the ride very bumpy
The Rattlers
A TRIP THROUGH WESTWOOD I SEE! NICE! MTA should have kept their rts's for busy days.... ya know as reserves! too bad, because i love the motor sound!
+Tyler Alvarado - Too old, too many miles...they served their time well from 1992-2010
OMG!!!
Where Can I Find A Retired RTS Like Dis One?
I want one too
@@raysmithpt25 only If It Sounds As Good As This Though
@@boojackblack6689 agreed, this thing a bad boy
