I don't expect you to see this at this point. But, if you're scooping something as light as water, as opposed to digging into the dirt, wouldn't you want to cut the engine speed some? That would save on fuel and engine wear.

Mike Rodgers this is just my opinion but i think you should run the hoe at full throttle all the time.the reason for this is you don't have the same feel for the hydraulics when you idle the engine down.It also effects your timing. After you run the hoe for awhile you can tell the difference between hitting a rock , a piece of pipe, or cement ,and even wood.being able to tell the difference between a log and pipe may come in handy some day.most company's don't care about fuel as long as you get the job done quickly and safely.

Barry Kozdrowski I guess that makes sense. "Timing" won't be an issue for me though, I've got to rent a backhoe sometime soon and the last time I was on one was, oh, 30 years ago? Thanks for the reply, you do have some really good videos, I picked up a lot.

You can go to school to learn how to run equipment but in Canada you do not need a ticket or certificate to operate. Not yet anyway.I have herd rumors though that in the future you will need one.

Awesome Video! Great Advice I need more advice on if you have to go to school to run the excavators and Dozers. I ran excavators like our CAT 345 CL in our quarry.

Awesome videos. I’m wondering if you can splice together short videos or pictures, from roughing in, to ditching, including bell holes, crossings, pi’s , feathering in backfills, and whatever else to get an idea from start to finish? Maybe even include other equipment?

No I was lucky enough to have learned from some old timers. once I had the basics I learned the rest on my own.but it took a long time 27yrs now.

Yes the next chance I get I will give you my opinion on the best way to clime up or down a steep slope.I would like to make a video for this but I do not expect to be in the mountains any time soon so I hope a slide show of previous experiences and my best description will help.It may take some time.if you can wait a bit I will put up something for you.
