That's a dumber reality than this one. That's really saying something.
I don't think so, there have been multiple people that have tried to help Chris turn himself around, before this thing with his mother, but he just was not interested or didn't have the willpower to see it through.
Zach was totally right to try and leave Chris until the very last minute. One of the biggest lessons those who interact with Chris learn (typically the hard way) is he will immediately reveal every private detail you've discussed with him. He's even doing it from prison somehow

@@kgpspyguy it's a little known fact but Chris Chan is just an alter ego of Chris O'Neil. As a young lad in Ireland he would be told stories of trolls living under bridges who would ask him riddles. As he grew older he grew more and more obsessed with these stories, creating an alternate personality that looked similar to these fat, disgusting trolls in Irish myth. In this form he would ask riddles such as "I've got a fish would you like to make a wish." However his fear of trolls carried into this form, meaning he spent most of his time fighting his fellow trolls. Luckily Tomar managed to stage an arrest of Chris' alternate "Chris Chan" identity freeing him from the curse.
Of course he can't keep secrets. Almost everything we know about his life came straight from the horse's mouth.
Chrischan is probably going to be a case study at some point. I don't think there's any other individual on Earth who has been documented as relentlessly and thoroughly.

Adult Swim had a limited budget to fly people out to LA and put them in hotels. Each episode of Smiling Friends has a budget of 250k, and most of that goes towards the animators.

Another was Psychicpebbles, who said all 8 episodes of Smiling Friends cumulatively cost as much as one episode of Family Guy. (Family Guy's budget is 2 million per episode, divided by 8 is 250k.)

could you imagine if they actually got Chris Chan in on this? His ego would have exploded all over the place and he would have tried to take over the entire production. He be like "I don't want to do just one line, I want to do several episodes staring Sonichu the Electric Hedgehog Pokemon and his girlfriend Roseshu. I also want to be in it and I'll voice myself and Sonichu. And for Rosechu I want Tara Strong to do the voice. And yeah, hmm, yeah, we can expand this into a whole bunch of Sonichu video games..."
Between this, and the guaranteed laziness and NDA violations that would've resulted from hiring Chris, they dodged a massive bullet.

This is honestly a bullet dodged for both parties. Zach and Micheal's iconic show is saved from unneeded adjacent controversy. And Chris is negated from attention on a official level that would've done nothing but feed their delusions.

Honestly, they made the right move by not having Chris Chan. There would've inevitably been a long list of unrealistic demands, NDA violations, and would've most definitely inflated Chris' already massive ego.

Zach always sounds like he has a large red rubber ball stuck in his throat but it's in there in such a way that it doesn't block his breathing and now he's basically forgotten about it.
Even if they had everything ready, as soon as they would have contacted Chris, Chris would have thought they were a troll. And then if he didn't think they were a troll, he'd say he doesn't want to voice that character. He'd rather all of them rewrite the script, reanimate parts, to have Sonichu show up instead. Or have a whole episode dedicated to Sonichu. Chris is the type of person that if you offer him a slice of cake, he'll tell you what is wrong with it and then he'll ask you to make him a completely different cake.
Agree totally, except maybe the part about Chris thinking they were trolling him. Chris has fallen for less convincing trolls before.
In fairness, from what I've read up, it seems Chris became more closed off from others in recent years due to paranoia of trolls.

@@automan224 That Shrek retold video was 4 years ago. Someone else animated and edit it for him. He didn't even bother to learn Farquaad's name. He just says, "The bad guy, I forgot his name". So I wouldn't say he did the Shrek Retold without any problems. It is true the Shrek medallion is more recent. But Chris is more familiar with Shrek and he has made several custom medallions in the past before. I don't recall Chris talking about Smiling Friends. So if Chris is not that familiar with Smiling Friends, he might have assumed they were trolls. In Chris's later life, he became more reclusive, believing anyone that reaches out to him through the internet was a troll, even though it didn't take long for trolls to go pass that wall. If you tell him all his delusions are real, the dimensional merge is going to happen, and he has magical powers, then he'll welcome you with open arms.
Oh, haha, I'm actually currently rewatching Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History and on part 21 at 34:16 Chris talks about a rumor going around that Family Guy was planning on making a quick skit with him in it (Of course the trolls made that up). He says he wants to make it clear that he doesn't want to make just a skit. He wants to be in the show and voice himself and Sonichu. And says he has plans for at least one episode but he was willing to do multiple episodes. So in a weird way, because of how well Chris has been documented, we already know how he would react to being offered to be in a show for a cameo.
Very fitting that Harry Partridge replaced Chirs Chan in the end, considering all of the Chris Chan references Harry put in his early animations from 10+ years ago.
The best part of this would be how Chris would demand himself to be credited in the episode. Imagine the credit sequence just listing Jesus Christ or something

I like to think in an alternate universe, Chris Chan is well-adjusted and has a decent career as a niche voice actor.

I miss who I was 2 minutes ago before I learned who he was and what he did.
The most infuriating aspect of Chris Chan's life is that he pissed away so many opportunities given to him that most ordinary people will never get.
To be fair the only reason he got those opportunities is because of his mental state. He's not talented in any meaningful way. His legacy is literally a Mary sue fan comic that's only avoided legal consequences because it flew under the radar. His rise to fame is built on the back of his autism and general insanity making him eather the world's easiest punching bag or the internets pet project.
When a big company approached Tom Waits to do a voiceover and he refused and they got an impersonator to do it instead he sued them for millions and won.
