Under The Tuscan Sun makes you fall in love with Tuscany. Beautiful scenic film. Mamma Mia makes you wanna go to Greece. 007 Casino Royale made me fall in love with Montenegro !
Walter Mitty for me has got to be the top movie. The cinematography and locations and simplicity of it all was just so amazing. I remember the first time I watched it on a plane flight so the setting was even more perfect
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York may not be too much of a traveling movie, but it does make several people want to travel to New York as several places filmed from that movie is based on New York, and the movie also made pretty much almost everyone want to experience the Plaza Hotel the way Kevin did at that time

Under the Tuscan Sun - for it's it's #1. After seeing the whole movie...it gave a good idea of the local beauty as well as what we hear about. Looks amazing and such a beautiful movie (and book). Notting Hill makes me want to go to London, England. Monte Carlo - after seeing that movie I now want to go there. One of the James Bond movies featured Montenegro and it looks so beautiful! And of course many of the movies about New York. Made me want to go...and I did. Loved it and will definitely return. We saw the local beauty & character...took the subway, slept in hostels and we also did a lot of sight seeing. Next time I go will be in nice hotel rooms with more spending cash so I get a well rounded experience of the city. Can't wait!
I am a native of New York City and I love it when movies turn my beloved hometown into a character! Watch 'Scent of a Woman' (1992) and 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' (1961) and 'A Thousand Clowns' (1965) for beautiful depictions of New York City.
A personal favorite of mine is Jon Favrau's Chef. Made me want to do a roadtrip from Miami to LA so bad I'm acyually thinking about doing it at some point.
Movies that gave me serious Wanderlust: 1. Finding You- Ireland (highly recommend everyone watch this movie for the amazing scenery) 2. Harry Potter- the UK 3. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants + Mama Mia- Greece 4. Chef - California and Miami 5. Jungle (with Daniel Radcliffe)- Bolivia 6. Blended- South Africa 7. Resort to Love- Mauritius 8. Midsommer- Sweden 9. Anne of Green Gables- Canada (PEI and Newfoundland) 10. 50 First Dates- Hawaii 11. Wine Country- Napa Valley, California
Yes. You’re no.1 is spot on. Before Trilogy is the best! If you never saw these movies. Give yourself 6 months to 1 year between each movies. Do not binge watch them.
"Only You"with Marisa Tomei will make you book a trip to Positano. Also, an oldie with Suzanne Pleshette "Rome Adventure" includes the performance of the song "Al di la".
I was hoping to see either “The Way” (northern Spain) or “The Hundred Foot Journey” (French countryside) on this list. Those would both be worthy additions. Also “The Lunchbox” and “Lion” for Indian travel inspiration.
Thank you for these, and now other movies I now have to look for, but I/myself Eat Pray Love #4 I think it's a #1 But we all have our own idea, and thank you again
Does anybody know the name of a film in which hero, a husband who lost his wife recently, gets depressed and sets out on his motorcycle and meets a woman on the way and returns getting rid of depression.. there are only a few characters in the film.. a film less than 10 years old
I just watched Under the Tuscan Sun cuz so many people in these comments recommended it and it was honestly so incredibly boring lol. The shots of Italy weren't even that exceptional for that scene she was on the beach. There are much better movies with much better Italian scenery out there.
Yeah these are some great places and some incredible scenery but let us not forget that the movie Hostel was filmed in Germany and had a couple of nice killer scenery shots(no pun intended) look what happened with that... just saying
