Hopefully the new hospital in Kalibo will be a facility you can rely on in the future for medical care.
I am just waiting for Asia Pacific Medical Center (APMC) to be Tricare preferred or certified. APMC will be my go-to hospital once they become Tricare preferred or certified. It's an impressive facility! I already get my follow-up care at APMC; currently out-of-pocket expense.

The best thing about medical care in the Philippines is if one has a medical emergency, there will be no suffering. One will just die. In the States, they do everything in the books to keep you alive like the Walking Dead.
I have received good medical care in the Philippines. I am confident in their ability to handle emergency situations.
I agree there. The longer they can keep you alive here in the US - the better for the ho$pitals and health in$urances!

By far my biggest (and so far only) concern while there, suddenly falling ill and then being held hostage in a hospital with nobody to trust in getting the money, great info on patient rights but I can't help and wonder what an influential medical facility can do in deflecting any complaints from a foreigner within a barangay. Very helpful as usual Gino.
PS: If they don't hurry up and move I'm going to take over, the grass is overgrowning the whole corner.😮
So far, I have gotten good medical care in the Philippines. I feel comfortable getting my medical care here. Your concern is valid regarding complaints. In my experience complaints here are often ignored from foreigner or locals. Filipinos get defensive when a complaint or suggestion is presented to them. I often hear them say that is how we've always done it. We've been getting plenty of rain lately; grass here grows fast.
Excellent video. Great job researching Philippine hospital patient rights. Every expat should carry a card in their wallet with that patient rights info. I understand that many of the provincial hospitals don't include meal service. It's the watcher's job to go get the patient's meals from somewhere outside the hospital. Crazy!
Yes; meal service in provincial hospital is often not provided. Watcher gets the meals for the patient; get money at the ATM to pay for medicine, lab, and x-ray procedures. Watcher is often times the person helping the patient go to the bathroom.

Hi Ginno! I am a new subscriber here but I've been watching some of your videos. My husband and I are planning to stay there for a couple of months on September but been worried about medical insurance. Is Tricare available everywhere and is it affordable? Your videos are very informative.
Thank you for subscribing to our channel. Since you will only be here for a couple of months; you'll have to search on the link below for Tricare certified facilities. You will pay 100% of your medical care in the Philippines; then file online to get your 75% reimbursement. Medical care in the Philippines is less than in the U.S.; but can add up quick if you get admitted to the hospital. People living in the Philippines like Dazel and I are under Tricare Select Overseas; we pay an annual fee of $300-$400. We have a deductible of the first $150 of medical care for the year. After the $150 deductible is met; we pay for 25% of our medical care. Below is a link to search Tricare providers in the Philippines:

A few people here in the US is advocating and pushing for DC to enact Medicare portability where we expats can have Madicare access in the Philippines.

Hi Gino. If possible, any chance to make a video on the current economic state of Philippines? There was just the first ever treaty between Ph, Jp, and US which should bring a lot of money and infrastructure into Ph. But with PH being the closest country to China and being the easier target than Japan, I’m curious on how that impacts life if at all? To include the now re opening of US bases and more pacific alliance military games happening. There seems to be a huge financial wave coming towards Ph with so much to gain from neighboring countries and quite honestly, being the best places for ships and planes to stop and refuel before going into the rest of Asia. Lastly, Ph is reopening a nuclear power plant, I’d like some news on that. If Ph can get several nuclear reactors safely running to help power major cities with no more black outs, open a train system as great as Europe or japans to help get people out of congested cities, and finally put a TON of money into education and medical, I really don’t see why Ph can’t be on of the richest per capita countries in the next few years. Should there be a real way with China and Ph comes out on the other side unscathed, there are so many resources that become available to the Philippines and her people. I personally think the outlook of Philippines is extremely bright if there can be strong relations with neighboring Asian countries, specifically Japan. Also to start cleaning the waters around the country and hefty fines for pollution to everyone while allowing public fishing everywhere can really help with food problems of the people.
Unfortunately, what I have seen with big projects in the Philippines, it doesn't benefit the common Filipino. Yes, it creates jobs for Filipinos when building highways, bridges, and infrastructure. But; low paying jobs with no benefits. And often times big projects have issues with corruption. The nuclear power plant in Bataan; I don't have very high hopes. It's been a project since the 1970s and currently requires an estimated $2 billion to refurbish. Too much temptation for corruption with that much money involved. Cleaning the waters in my opinion is an almost impossible task. I see it when I go to the beach. Unfortunately, people just do not care about keeping the beaches and waters clean.
@@dazeltv1351 well this is sad. Like I said, the physical location of Philippines might be one of the best in the entire world. Having to go through here to get to basically all of Asia. And have one of the most beautiful land scapes and waters all compact into such tiny islands is the perfect way to get tourists here, in then out in three days max while seeing everything. I hope the current bong bong admin can make some positive changes. Having seen some true poor in Manila, is heart breaking.
@@ma.2099 I agree; the Philippines has so much to offer; amazing beaches and islands. Manila International Airport needs improvement both infrastructure and procedures to make it a hub for travel in Asia. It needs to be like Changi Airport in Singapore. I’m hoping for positive changes from the Marcos administration too. I know what you mean about the poor in Manila; heart breaking indeed. 💔
Would a maid be willing to perform watcher duties if you provided them access to an emergency fund?
Yes; definitely. It would be easy to find someone to be your watcher once you are here and get to know people and have Filipino friends. Would not be surprised if Filipino friends refuse to take your money. I know expats that contract with domestic helpers to clean their house once a week. Would be easy to contract the domestic helper to be your watcher too.
Never trust anyone here unless they are your relative or someone you can fully trust. Giving them access to an emergency fund is a good way to lose all those funds and you left getting kicked out of the hospital without the needed funds. Do not trust anybody period!
@@jetd9716 I guess we'll have to ask one of my wife's sisters to fly in from Korea to stay with us and assist. The maid can be the interpreter (if we teach her Korean, LoL!).

Thank you for your service my brother. I would open an account with Xoom, Remitly, or any of the online money transfer in the U.S. Once you get here and open a Philippine bank account; you will be able to transfer from your U.S. bank to Philippine bank in an instant. You can also sent money online to yourself and pickup at money transfer places (Palawan, Cebuana, etc.) in the Philippines. Bring a box of checks from your checking account in the U.S.; you can deposit those checks here in a Philippine bank dollar account (takes about 30 days to clear the check). Take care brother.
