Melissa Etheridge performed “Scarecrow” on the 22nd installment of her daily #StayHome mini-concert series. We will never forget you, our sweet angel Matthew Shepard ❤️ MelissaEther...
I was 16 in high school and had just come out, I couldn’t afford to buy your book “my life in love and music” so I would drive to borders everyday and read it. I read it in 3-4 days. It meant so much to read about other gay ppl in relationships when there were zero examples around me and homophobic religiously fundamentalist family/ community raining down rage on me for coming out. ❤
Oh my God. Just as powerful today as it was the first time I heard you perform it live in, I think it was 2000? I didn't know the story of Matthew Shepard back then, but I knew that this song hurt my soul. After I learned the story it hurts even more. Beautiful. Thank you, Melissa.
Did you hear it at the Equality Rocks Concert in Washington DC? I was at that concert too. TBH, Melissa was the only artist I actually remembered (I was 10).
Love this so raw and powerful proud member of the LGBTQIA community and disabled
