@@quaissag368 I really hope they fixed it, 'cause the SL app and using contactless credit cards directly in the machines are the only means of payment these days!
Last September we took the Arlanda Express and for 2 people we got a deal that was buy one get one free or something like that. I believe it was round trip. For the convenience, times and speed after a long trans Atlantic flight, I feel it was worth it.
Brilliant share, i was hoping to visit Sweden next year and your tips came just at the right time. This video will sure help me keep costs down because I travel on a budget. Thanks so much for a very informative share, I'm looking forward to future videos to follow your adventures thru your lenses.
Great tips and quite spot on. What you should may have pointed out , is that, alongside the boat tours there are many normal boat (bus) transportation operators that cover a myriad of different islands at a very reasonable cost and which tends to pass by most of the areas the boat tours cover as well as go even further afield. I believe even on some you are able to use the regular subway cards to various destinations. Also you missed that they have a regular Arlanda express bus service also that is a at reasonable price and runs 24/7. On the subject of Stockholm nightlife, this is not about entertainment but rather the clubs are just simply selling beer and alcohol at exorbitant prices, (*** you can easily buy a glass of sparkling wine for $20 or a beer for the price of a bottle of whiskey in other EU countries ***) . The music everywhere is particularly bad, Dj's it appears are paid a monthly salary and don't seem to understand the art of music or maintaining any type of 'music' scene. The bouncers simply enjoy the 'god' power that seems to bolster their muscles. Sweden in general is not very service minded on most levels, be it shops or restaurants and maybe best explained, by the fact that most bar/restaurant staff, are paid a monthly salary (which is WAY above your countries minimum wage) and therefore do not rely on tips for a living and doesn't necessarily translate into giving you the best service possible.
Thanks for that - those are some great additions, and comments! I guess I don't really have much more to say other than nice work on finding stuff I missed to mention :D
Well worth the watch, it’s good to know the scams before you visit so you can avoid them. Our last visit in July was surprising to me, I always understood they didn’t tip but everywhere we went , not that they asked for it there was tip jars or it was on the credit card machines, crap I guess I fell for a scam 😮. I won’t be scammed by the night club scene at my age that’s for sure but maybe paying for a over priced beer 👍. Stay safe and thanks for sharing
It's impossible to miss every scam after all, or every tourist trap for that matter. So good on you for not falling for more of them :D Overpriced beer is the one everyone falls for in Stockholm, so that's just to be expected. But cheers, and thank you for checking out the video ^_^
Amazing video! Loved the part about tipping culture in Sweden since I was told once from a swede that u don’t really tipp there but then seeing one of these card payments machines with automatically tipps that kinda confused me 😅 Tack for sharing those amazing vids everytime
Yeah, those machines are an abomination! I always press no tip, and no one is bothered at all about it. But if someone really has offered great service I do try to give a tip anyway. Cheers!
We usually fill up our SL card and take the transfer hit at Arlanda, then we have the card for our stay with bus, tram, train, T-Bana and ferries - so worth it. Yep, we avoid so many tourist traps where we see them. Great video.
5:18 - I've noticed the same in Copenhagen. The terminal asks you if you'd like to tip. Yes, seems like an American import. Kinda awkward and uncomfortable, especially if a waiter is standing right beside you. 🥴 Some people even say that any tips people choose to give will go to the restaurant/bar itself, not to the person who served you.
Yeah, the tipping is really weird in all of the Nordics these days I'd say. You never know who gets the tip, and you never know if they might actually expect it after all (since some people are getting Americanized). All the tourists tipping only confuses things even more as well...
I stayed right near that Skyview place a few months back and was thinking about going but glad I didn't bother! Old town was great though. A lot of tourist shops which were a bit meh! but loved the overall vibe.
Thanks - just back from a magical first trip to Stockholm and your videos were so helpful. We stayed in Hotel Ruth in Vasastan (10/10) and ate where the locals did, avoiding the tourist places. Gamla Stan was a dash through (too busy but Sci-fi book store was ace) and we didn’t get scammed. Highlights were Vasa Museet and a blissful walk around Djurgården. We met a lovely Finnish couple who’d come over on the cruise ship and Bruce Springsteen concert was incredible. We will definitely be back and I’ll practice asking for the bill in Swedish. ; at least the waitress knew what I meant. Tack
Oh wow, thanks and I'm so happy to hear that! You didn't have the best luck with the weather, but I hope you got a little bit of sunshine at least. Sounds like you had a great trip overall - this itinerary is pretty much what I would have chosen for myself as well :D
@@ThreeStarVagabond thanks, it was perfect. Next time, I’d spend the day in Djurgarden or maybe wander further afield and stretch the SL card a little. My only regret is not staying longer, but that’s easily sorted for next time. You’re lucky to live in such a beautiful city. All the best and looking forward to your videos.
@@andrewsnape1705 Djurgården is a really good idea! It's absolutely lovely there - and you've got everything from museums and culture, to an amusement park. And greenery of course. But yeah I know that I'm biased but I really think Stockholm is extremely beautiful - especially in summer. Cheers, and I'll do my best to find interesting topics moving forward :D
Arlanda Express is not a tourist trap. I use that train every time. It's so fast and comfortable, that I don't mind paying extra. I don't think I've ever taken a bus from Arlanda. The taxi is indeed a tourist trap though :D
Fair enough! It seems to be a pretty even split between people who love Arlanda Express and those who don't. We can all unite over our hatred of taxis though :D
Wish I'd seen this video last week! There's quite a bit of this video that we definitely fell into while at Stockholm last weekend. However, we had the best time and it was an amazing weekend in an amazing city. Some highlights included going to see Djurgardens ice hockey and the Vasa Museum. The hop on / hop off bus could also be classed as a "tourist trap" but it is really useful in terms of getting across all of the tourist spots across the city and avoid you missing anything. :) We stayed near Slussen metro station so we made use of the metro as well as walking into Gamla Stan over the bridge. Really enjoyed having a drink at Karamell next to Slussen boat stop and we really enjoyed the expensive experience of the Icebar! Bistro Bestick was also a really enjoyable restaurant experience.
Sounds like you hit a few really nice places! Sometimes it's hard to define what's a tourist trap and what isn't - like the hop on hop off buses. I know realistically that they're tourist traps, but I've gone on a few abroad despite that. Anyway, happy to hear that you had a good time! :D
@@ThreeStarVagabond Yeah. It's not only in Sweden of course, but in most of the world especially after January 2023. I live in Norway and prices exploded here too, but i don't think beer prices increased that much here as it were already almost twice the Swedish price. Most prices on everything else were mostly the same in both countries.
Hey! Thanks for the great video. Can you name the clubs that you recommend at 11:41 and 11:47 ? I couldnt get how they are written in order to find them on maps
Usually, if there is a reason to come and visit Stockholm, the plans usually include the nearby museums and theme parks. In addition, traveling on a budget allows you to save money when you buy food at a supermarket instead of expensive restaurants, bistros and cafes.
Oh btw I remember when me and a group of friends went to one of those clubs when my friend turned 21. Everyone was let inside except for me. Only me. I was probably not pretty enough according to the bouncer but they just said ”it’s full”. Allthough literally everyone else could come in, before AND after me. When I spoke to my friend through the fence, the bouncer threatened me with violence. I went home meanwhile my friends celebrated. That’s the Stockholm club scene.
I think you pretty much nailed the description there! Sometimes they just go for a random "you're too drunk" instead, but it's the same crappy behavior either way. No thank you to clubs
They don't let blacks or visibly non-ethnic Swedes in. It happened to three people I know that are black (one a Brit and the other an American) on different occasions.
The Arlanda Express is ok if you are 3+ people. The best option is the Bus to Märsta and then Train to Central Stockholm. Takes 50 min and you see some of the city.
I would say Arlanda Express is worth it if you sre more than one person because then discounts and deals are so common like for 5 people it only costed around 600 crowns last time
If you had a long flight into Stockholm, 15+hours, then the Arlanda express is totally worth it to me. Flying there from Tennessee I was exhausted and was happy to just get the ticket and get to my hotel. And Cafe Restaurant Sten Sture in Gamla Stan was pretty expensive, at least for the Elk, but it was delicious and the staff there were the best I’ve experienced in my 3 trips to Stockholm. That was a true gem I found during my last trip.
That's fair enough! I think it's always a case by case basis, whether or not something is worth the extra cost. Regardless if it's food or transport, or anything regarding comforts and convenience on a trip :)
@@ThreeStarVagabond I was just in Spain last week and definitely miss the dinning scene there where we weren’t pressured at all to put 20%+ tip. I would just recommend to limit your dinning when your here visiting unless you want pay you bar tender 20 or more percent tip just for them to pour a beer for you 😅. I definitely take advantage eating out when in Europe. Happy travels!
You can take an airport shuttle to any hotels and then take SL Buses. You can also take SL boats to see the sights. 1 week SL pass is more than enough and u can get it on your phone!
Good question! So, I'd see it as three different type of boat trips: 1) Expensive boat tours. You get a guided tour that way, and you zoom around in the canals and under bridges and such. 2) SL boats / public transport. It's mostly for getting some pretty views and for getting between places (like from Slussen to Djurgården). 3) Archipelago boats (both Waxholmsbolaget and public transport). Longer trips with no guided tours, but longer pretty views. And less expensive than the tours. I think it depends on what you're after, but I'd go for option 2 or 3 myself.
One tip my parents do : If youre a family, order a family ticket on busses if you can cause its cheaper 👍 (Might be different in other places in sweden)
I agree with everything haha but I was worked at restaurant, the tips u give when u pay, u chose , cause we dont use cash in sweden, and we divide with everyone that worked at shift. we can check at payroll system.
I can definitely understand that things are completely different when you have the perspective of working at a restaurant! So yeah, I was a bit exaggerated on that point
I agree on everything. However, the "Strömmingsvagnen" (Herring car) in Gamla Stan passed by inte the video, and you forgot to mention how good, cheap and Swedish it is. Really good street food! Fried fish, not the stinky one!
Arlanda Express -- never took it (good you mentioned the bus!). Never took a tourist boat. Nor visited the Globe! And, I only tip in a taxi (if I must take one). Also, only buy a beer in a bar where the price is show outside! Have avoided night clubs for 50 years (actually for most of those years night clubs didn't exist)! And I had the best view of Stockholm from where I lived on the end of Åsagatan (Åsaberget). The view is still there, and it is free. I think you nailed most of them. Perhaps you should have mentioned "svensk hemslöjd" for Swedish made "stuff"? Although those stores are not like they used to be, either. 🤔
Arlanda Express is free for kids, the airport coach is not. So if you're a family of four, taking the Express is not a bad choice. As for experiencing Stockholm by boat, the obvious choice is to take one of the commuter ferries. Less than 4 euros one way and you can choose how long to stay on the ferry. It also offers outdoor seating unlike the sightseeing boats which get hot and stuffy in the summer.
I love videos like this...and thinking about how similar and different where I am is. What I'd consider tourist traps to avoid...and even those that are absolute traps, but still worth seeing. And I'm sure those card readers were made in the U.S. We now drive to pick up an order, and some machines or apps default to a 20% tip. And some non-food stores are now having a, "Want to include a tip?" screen pop up during the process of checking out. I can almost see that if I were being fitted for a hand-made suit (in other words, that's unlikely for me 😆), but walking into a store, grabbing exactly what you need, and being asked to tip the grumpy person ringing the order up 20% seems a bit extreme.
I sometimes like tourist traps when I'm abroad - they're often famous for a reason after all. But I felt like I could at least give some alternatives in this video. But yeah, being asked for a 20% tip when I pick up some stuff would make me so annoyed.... It's completely insane! But then again, I get extremely annoyed at stuff like not adding sales tax or whatnot on the price tag either. Everything that's not the final exact price just makes things complicated and weird :D
@@ThreeStarVagabond Yeah, we have a higher-than-most sales tax in Texas because we have no state income tax. It throws some people. The first time I traveled to Oregon was weird because I paid what the price was on labels and menus. (However, at the time...people were not allowed to pump their own gas, so when I was at a gas station at 5:00 before returning my rental and a guy (not in any kind of uniform) came out of the dark from the side of the building and asked for my credit card--and said he needed to pump my gas--I thought it was a scam 🤣) [Man, I'm almost proud of that run-on sentence!]
@@ChristopherGronlund I love when stuff like that happens! You always feel so proud for not falling for a scam...until the shameful realization hits... Reminds me of my first time flying to Rome. "What, €70 for a taxi? This guy is DEFINITELY ripping me off!" So I found the train instead... Which also cost a fair bit... And it was a really long ride... Ah, the €70 made sense now.
I still qualify as an under 25 (I’m not that young) and with a very early flight out of Stockholm, the Arlanda Express is cheapER for me and runs in early mornings :)
I've apparently forgotten what it's like to be under 25. But that's fair enough then! If it's cheap and fast, then there's nothing to complain about :D
Tack för dina tips! In june I'm comin' back to Stockholm after 10 years, went very regularly to Oslo the last years and that's even more expensive the Norwegians say😉😄. Lookin' forward to your beautiful city and I'm already singin' "money, money, money"😆 Greetz from the Netherlands
Graag! :D Hope you'll have a great time in the cold north - it's expensive here but not as expensive as Oslo. Nothing is as expensive as Norway! Cheers :D
Stockholm person here :) I went up the skyview ontop of globen/avicii arena and i loved it! Went at sunset, loveley view and i got amazing pictures! I think its worth it. I diddnt book any tickets, just looked up their opening hours and walked up there, maybe i was lucky with no que but it was amazing! And i just wanna say, i love the building itself. Part of Stockholm skyline ^-^
Really happy that you enjoyed it :D There's definitely room for different views on what's worth doing and not in the city. Sometimes it's just personal preference whether or not something is amazing or a tourist trap :)
I love Arlanda Express. It's fastest, most convenient and safe way to get to Stockholm. I've lived in Stockholm since 2011 and every time I travel i take that option. Trust me, I'm not stinking rich, but I would take that option anyday anyway.
Fair enough! For me it's usually just as fast to take the bus - but I might be biased, since I can actually jump on at Fridhemsplan to save some time. So it's both much cheaper and almost more convenient. But that's not the case for everyone of course.
Yeah I guess it does make a lot of sense with the group discount. It's cheaper and faster than a taxi in that case (at least if you're heading towards the center).
You don't need a card, just use your credit card directly. Best from Arlanda is Bus to Märsta and then train to Central. 50 min and stops in other locations you might want to go
Oh right! That's "Sveavägen" and "Södermalm". Sveavägen is a street that runs from Haymarket Square and west, and there are some pretty cheap places along that road. Södermalm is a pretty big island, but the area I'm referring to is close to the subway station Medborgarplatsen.
@@ThreeStarVagabond Thank you so much! We went to Södermalm and hung around subway station Medborgarplatsen - you are absolutely right, so many bars that offer affordably priced drinks! This video in general was super helpful for us to organise our trip, thanks a ton for preparing it and publishing it!
The tourist traps are that for good reasons. Expensive? Yes. Good? Yes. Do get Into Aiþur (wrong runes), E-Type himself sometimes circulates. The dishes are top notch.
@@ThreeStarVagabond No Arlanda-tillägg. I have taken that route many times, back and forth. Takes some more time than other alternatives but it is the cheapest one
@@ThreeStarVagabond Additional cost applies only if you take the Pendeltåg from Arlanda. 15 minutes bussride to Märsta and train from there and you only pay the normal SL price
In some countries there is only an option to go to the airport and it is a taxi and they are much much more expensive and slower than this train, so Arlanda Express is not so expensive specially if your plane leaves pretty early in the morning or you are hurry, if you have time the Bus is an excelent option.
That's a fair point! It's all relative after all - and I admit that I do take Arlanda Express myself sometimes. But I really feel like those hundreds of SEK are a bit too much, each time...
No mention of the Abba Museum and the Spirit Museum on the museum island. Both tourist traps afaic. Arlanda Express is fast and comfortable and drops me 20m from my hotel; worth every krona for me.
I am visiting Stockholm via Helsinki by overnight cruise in November What would you say are the 5 must See/do of Stockholm? Also, have you been to Helsinki and made a video? Thanks
That sounds awsome! I have indeed made a video about Helsinki: th-cam.com/video/W0EucfFkIcs/w-d-xo.html But then the difficult question... Okay top five things: 1) Old Town (including seeing Mårten Trotzigs gränd, the Medieval museum, and all the alleys) 2) Visiting the archipelago (e.g, Fjäderholmarna - I think it should be nice even in November) 3) Skansen open-air museum and zoo is a place I love personally 4) Then I'll cheat and just say "museums", 'cause there's the Vasa Museum, ABBA Museum, Museum of Technology, and Fotografiska (a photography museum / gallery) 5) And finally, I really enjoy the amusement park Gröna Lund. Depending on when in November you're visiting, they might still be open for Halloween
I'm a frequent visitor to Sweden* and 320 SEK is basically no money and 100% worth it for the speed compared to bus. Of course I'm from Reykjavík, Iceland which makes Stockholm seem very very very cheap (also very warm). 320 SEK is maybe a meal for two in the average Icelandic restaurant. *I've been everywhere from Falun to Öland to Göteborg to Karlskrona to Huaröd to Gävle to Åmal to Kalmar to Malmö to Örebro and of course Stockholm several times as it is the cultural capital of the Nordics and the only proper city (Köben comes close but suffers from being full of Danes) You have a lovely country.
Now I'm suddenly reminded why I haven't been to Iceland yet! :D But yeah, if you have money then it's definitely worth it. Or if you're very short on time. No rule without exception! But damn, you've been around quite a bit! Happy to hear that you enjoy Sweden - and the people who've been to Iceland always have good things to say. It's an unusual ol' place, but very rewarding to visit, I hear! ^_^
If you want experience the full beauty of Stockholm, a boat tour is the best option. Yes, the tours are expensive, but not seeing the waterfront of Stockholm is like going all the way to [insert famous viewing point of your choice] and not going up because it's a bit too pricy. You can get on a 2 h 15 min guided boat tour fo 320 SEK. Cheap? No, but worth it!
Why would you sell a kidney to afford the alcohol? Wouldnt it be betyer to sell your liver since you wont need it anymore? It should fetch more money since its bigger too.
I disagree about the taxi being a scam, I take ubertaxi all the time in Stockholm and i pay between 100-200kr every time and I think that is cheap today. Regarding the nightclubs you can never be sure you are gonna get in. If you really want to, you should dress properly and try to research the nightclubs and find a guestlist and add yourself inside it, act sober in que and be polite to the bouncers, lastly always hold your ID ready in your hand so they dont have to watch you struggle with it.
The thing is, Uber isn't taxi - it's the taxis that can be unreliable. And well, if people want to suck up to bouncers they can absolutely do that to get in to places! But no sane person would do that for a club :D
Agreed! Or, like one commenter mentioned, if they have a really short time in Stockholm and want to maximize the time. I can see that it's worth it then.
I have live in Stockholm for 20 years and disagree with a lot of statements in this video. 1. Arlanda Express is expensive, but you pay for the service. The trains are fast, on time and very convenient when traveling with luggage. Not a tourist trap. 2. The boats around the archipelago are well worth the cost. A nice guided tour for a few hours with scenery that you never see otherwise for a few hundred kronors, and some have the option to dine on the boat. Definitely not a tourist trap. I myself have taken three different cruises. 3. Nightclubs have a high standard if you like the night life, and bouncers will treat you well if you present well. Drinks and beers are expensive though. I do prefer bars but one should be objective. If the locals use something or a service it's not a tourist trap by definition.
Then we will agree to disagree. However, regarding #2 I was talking about the "Under the bridges" boats and tours like that. The ones that cost 500-ish for an hour. So, don't bring up archipelago boats.
To that.. so cald "tourist traps" isnt always bad, some of them is "tourist oriented" in a good way. They supose to know what tourists want!? How ever everything gets more expensive in "Gamla stan", and at "Östermalm" and "Stureplan"! In anyway, Sweden is expensive, Stockholm is even more expensive, eating out and drinking is very expensive even for swedes.. becuse sales tax and tip is included in the price! Swedish tiping is more like.. "I dont want those coins in my pocket" leave it on the table! Paying whit a card reader, round it up to nearest 10 Sek, or dont do that and leave a small note.. 20 Sek, its about 2 dollar/Euro! Those tip buttons.. those are scam, its not even sure that vaiters get that money!
Avoid Stockholm it is just a bunch of houses and streets like in any bigger city throughout the world. Stockholm is just a big big no no place I cannot even remember the last time when I went there. Get out in the countryside in our wonderful country cause that is where the real life takes place.
As a worker in restaurant business in Stockholm I tell you please do not recommend people to don't tip, if they get good service and they are satisfied, why not tip 5% or 10%? I myself do it if that's the case. The fact that swedes do not tip at all is just wrong. Maybe it's just you the one that does not tip and that's fine but don't go around recommending people to don't tip because you are attacking the sector that many of us work with.

@@Kesohedvall underbetalda? 😂
I stayed right near that Skyview place a few months back and was thinking about going but glad I didn't bother! Old town was great though. A lot of tourist shops which were a bit meh! but loved the overall vibe.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed it despite the touristy shops! And yeah, it's not like SkyView is BAD... It's just... Not really all that exciting..
Informative as usual!
Happy to hear that! :D
When i were in Stockholm in 2019, beer were cheap almost everywhere including at hotels.
The prices increased a lot since then in Gothenburg too.
Yeah definitely! Things basically exploded these last 5 years. But I guess that's true for many places in the world these days
On point and honest information, right on man!
Cheers, thanks a lot :D
Gonna start my master's at Stockholm University this September. Your tips are pretty helpful. Thanks

Usually, if there is a reason to come and visit Stockholm, the plans usually include the nearby museums and theme parks. In addition, traveling on a budget allows you to save money when you buy food at a supermarket instead of expensive restaurants, bistros and cafes.
Very good point, and I agree. There's really no reason to spend more than you need!
„Good service“ in a restaurant in Stockholm😂 you have a great sense of humour
I'd laugh if it wasn't so true :D
Few years ago,I was there in Stockholm during Easter festival , I have seen Harekrishna group near Gamlastan.
Yeah they do run around there now and then. Pretty fun to see them ^_^
I really enjoy your videos. 👍🏻
So happy to hear that! Thanks a lot :D
Those friends left you? They diddnt all leave with you to find anothet place?? ♡ ♡ damn, :( hug to you man ♡ ä
They don't let blacks or visibly non-ethnic Swedes in. It happened to three people I know that are black (one a Brit and the other an American) on different occasions.
I landed in Stockholm for going to the Abba Museum. It was expensive but was worth more than the every Swedish Kroner I spent.
Happy to hear that! I found the museum a lot more fun than I expected actually - even if it's expensive (like so many things here).
You nailed it! Great review!
Haha, thank you! :D
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for checking it out :D
Thank you Sir for the information. In America they expect a tip just to talk to you. Ridiculous
Yeah I really think things have been taken to the extreme over there!
bra video med grymma tips 🎉
Tack! Jättekul att höra :D
The Arlanda Express is ok if you are 3+ people. The best option is the Bus to Märsta and then Train to Central Stockholm. Takes 50 min and you see some of the city.
That's a fair point! There are quite a few options for getting to Arlanda, after all.
I would say Arlanda Express is worth it if you sre more than one person because then discounts and deals are so common like for 5 people it only costed around 600 crowns last time
I'm going to Stockholm for only 29 hours next month so I'll take the Arlanda Express train since every minute will count.
That actually makes perfect sense! With that short amount of time I would absolutely do the same :)
Thanks I was trying to check out the transportation.
Happy to be of help ^_^
5:45 Yes! Tipping culture in the US is crazy and ridiculous. Thanks for the info!
Agreed! Unfortunately I'll have to conform with that tipping monstrosity when I visit the US :(
@@ThreeStarVagabond I was just in Spain last week and definitely miss the dinning scene there where we weren’t pressured at all to put 20%+ tip. I would just recommend to limit your dinning when your here visiting unless you want pay you bar tender 20 or more percent tip just for them to pour a beer for you 😅. I definitely take advantage eating out when in Europe. Happy travels!
Thanks for the hint. Or maybe I should say thanks for those tips? ;D Haha, I hope I won't get too annoyed with all those extra percentages!
When we where in Stockholm we did the Sky View and also a Viking themed restaurant both where great.
Happy to hear that :D I actually love that viking restaurant myself (I assume it was Aifur)
the bouncer bit was great ahahaha 😂
I was so happy that he did that :D I laughed so hard when I reviewed the clips afterwards!
You can take an airport shuttle to any hotels and then take SL Buses. You can also take SL boats to see the sights. 1 week SL pass is more than enough and u can get it on your phone!
Nice tip about taking a hotel shuttle to get away from the airport! Then you don't have to pay an extra airport fee. Good one!
Would it be worth it to take the different ferries vs the boat tours? They seem to be included in the SL passes we purchased
Good question! So, I'd see it as three different type of boat trips:
1) Expensive boat tours.
One tip my parents do :
If youre a family, order a family ticket on busses if you can cause its cheaper 👍
(Might be different in other places in sweden)
That's a good tip! Thanks :D
Haha, fair enough! The thing is that I hate fish myself, so I'll never approve of Strömmingsvagnen :D
Going to Stockholm and Gotland soon. Thank you so much for this video.
Glad to be of help! And hope you'll have a great time :D
I think I missed "svensk hemslöjd" actually - so maybe I need to see if there are any good ones left out of those... Anyway, thanks a lot! :)
Thanks for sharing. I'll be visiting Stockholm in August.
Stockholm will be waiting eagerly :D
Thank you. i appreciate this. 😄
And I appreciate comments like this ^_^
I love videos like this...and thinking about how similar and different where I am is.
(However, at the time...people were not allowed to pump their own gas, so when I was at a gas station at 5:00 before returning my rental and a guy (not in any kind of uniform) came out of the dark from the side of the building and asked for my credit card--and said he needed to pump my gas--I thought it was a scam 🤣)
[Man, I'm almost proud of that run-on sentence!]
Very useful. Thank you! We are visiting from 🇹🇼
Hope you're having a lovely time in Sweden :D
Arlanda Express is reasonable if you are not alone. Current prices are 340 for 1 person, but 460 for 2, 580 for 3 and 700 for 4.
Yeah I guess it does make a lot of sense with the group discount. It's cheaper and faster than a taxi in that case (at least if you're heading towards the center).
Thank you! Planning on going to Stockholm in June.
Hope you'll have great weather then - and a great time too :D
Thank you very much. I plan on visiting Stockholm in Oct 2025.

What about the SL card? Can you buy it in advance? Do you have a good tip for a line from arlanda to stockholm central
You don't need a card, just use your credit card directly. Best from Arlanda is Bus to Märsta and then train to Central. 50 min and stops in other locations you might want to go
Kaknästornet is also quite nice with an amazing view, not sure if there is cost getting up there though.
It's closed to the public these days unfortunately :/
@@ThreeStarVagabond Ohh i did not know that, but not been there in the last 20 years or more.

@@ThreeStarVagabond Yeah the view from up there was amazing.
9:52 hello thank you for the video, how do you write the names of the neighborhoods for cheap bars please?
The tourist traps are that for good reasons. Expensive? Yes. Good? Yes.
Do get Into Aiþur (wrong runes), E-Type himself sometimes circulates. The dishes are top notch.

Take the local buss 583 from Arlanda airport to Märsta station and the commuter train 41 from there to Stockholm Central. Price 42 SEK one way.
I think you need to pay the Arlanda-tillägg even for the bus. If so, it's more expensive than Flygbussarna - and takes longer, via that route.
@@ThreeStarVagabond No Arlanda-tillägg. I have taken that route many times, back and forth. Takes some more time than other alternatives but it is the cheapest one
@@ballekalle693 Oh wow! I never even tried it because I read about those additional costs at the SL site. Well, thank you for the tip!

Awesome! Let's hope you have a great trip - and that the autumn rains haven't started by then :D
The ABBA Museum and the Spritmuseum definitely had more to offer than I expected at first, so they don't qualify in my view ^_^
I am visiting Stockholm via Helsinki by overnight cruise in November
What would you say are the 5 must See/do of Stockholm?
Also, have you been to Helsinki and made a video?
Thanks
That sounds awsome! I have indeed made a video about Helsinki: th-cam.com/video/W0EucfFkIcs/w-d-xo.html
But then the difficult question... Okay top five things:
1) Old Town (including seeing Mårten Trotzigs gränd, the Medieval museum, and all the alleys)
2) Visiting the archipelago (e.g, Fjäderholmarna - I think it should be nice even in November)
3) Skansen open-air museum and zoo is a place I love personally
4) Then I'll cheat and just say "museums", 'cause there's the Vasa Museum, ABBA Museum, Museum of Technology, and Fotografiska (a photography museum / gallery)
5) And finally, I really enjoy the amusement park Gröna Lund. Depending on when in November you're visiting, they might still be open for Halloween

But skyv view got stucked early in this summer so now you dont want up
Oh wow, I had no idea about that actually! I should have added a note about that as well...
*I've been everywhere from Falun to Öland to Göteborg to Karlskrona to Huaröd to Gävle to Åmal to Kalmar to Malmö to Örebro and of course Stockholm several times as it is the cultural capital of the Nordics and the only proper city (Köben comes close but suffers from being full of Danes)
You have a lovely country.
Very useful information.
Thanks! Happy if I can be of some help ^_^

I always take the SL bus to Märsta its free if you have an SL card.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for checking it out :D
European European European !!!!! Fantastic talk about tipping.
Thank you! :D
Hear hear, all of it is so true 😂
If you want experience the full beauty of Stockholm, a boat tour is the best option. Yes, the tours are expensive, but not seeing the waterfront of Stockholm is like going all the way to [insert famous viewing point of your choice] and not going up because it's a bit too pricy. You can get on a 2 h 15 min guided boat tour fo 320 SEK. Cheap? No, but worth it!
Fair enough! To me it does feel a bit overpriced - but we all have different degrees of what feels worth the cost, right?
@@ThreeStarVagabond You're correct, it's overpriced - but probably for the reason that it's something that you definitely should do.
Why would you sell a kidney to afford the alcohol? Wouldnt it be betyer to sell your liver since you wont need it anymore? It should fetch more money since its bigger too.
I haven't really checked the black market prices for livers, but maybe I could sell just half of it? So I can still get half-drunk?

Airplane coach means a bus??
Yes exactly!
What about the SL card?
100% Agreed
Glad to hear it :D
@@ThreeStarVagabond thats incorrect, both Uber and Bolt are proper taxis driven by taxi drivers. Please dont mislead.
Arlanda Express is more for business people.
Agreed! Or, like one commenter mentioned, if they have a really short time in Stockholm and want to maximize the time. I can see that it's worth it then.
There aren't really any canals in Stockholm. It's more of a lake with islands.
There are a few though, like Djurgårdsbrunn and at Långholmen. But yeah not as many as one would think...
Nobel museum def is a tourist trap 😂😂jk
Well.. I WAS pretty disappointed when I went there to be honest...
I don’t know if you can call it a tipping culture but at a coffee shop they will pressure you into giving a tip.
Really annoying! I completely ignore it, myself, regardless of how much they try to imply it. I just don't see it as a thing to do...
@@ThreeStarVagabond Tack!
To that.. so cald "tourist traps" isnt always bad, some of them is "tourist oriented" in a good way.
Good points all of this! Thanks for elaborating on these topics :)
It is not Sweeden anymore ...😂😂😂

Haha, a bit of a resemblance! :D
Avoid Stockholm it is just a bunch of houses and streets like in any bigger city throughout the world. Stockholm is just a big big no no place I cannot even remember the last time when I went there. Get out in the countryside in our wonderful country cause that is where the real life takes place.
After spending 10 years in the countryside, I advise everyone to avoid it at all costs.
Swedes traditionally do not tip. If you or some other people feel the urge to do so, by all means go ahead
