I own an RS200 manual AND an Accord Type S (albeit a wagon) so have a good comparison of them both. The K24 has better torque from the higher displacement which makes it feel faster on pulls, but the Altezza feels way better high up in the rev range. On track, the Altezza feels really good as you are keeping it high up in the revs, and with its 50/50 weight split it handles incredibly well on corners. But it is a tad too heavy for the engine to be at its best so on the straights it can feel a bit lackluster, especially with the 4.1 final drive from factory. I have not taken the Accord on to the track but from my road experience I don't think it handles as well. As for the interiors, I can't stand the Accord. Not sure if it is on all versions but the climate control, stereo etc are all in a crappy touch screen that is very outdated and not very intuitive. So the Altezza wins it for me inside (also, no double din slot on the Accord). My verdict would be, for cruising around town, going to shops and such, the Accord is more suited. Hey man, nice video, came across your vid looking for altezza content 😅 If you're keen to do another review on a modified rs200 manual altezza I'm keen to bring it by. I'm close by wellington myself.
for the rematch make sure to get a rolling race between the cl1 and the altezza would make a good example mainly due to them being more similar in power than your modified accord. also to add i just bought a manual altezza 2 weeks ago and i know it doesn't stand a chance against the k24 as my dad owns a accord euro just not enough torque in the 3sge to keep up.
Man that gap during the rolling race. The majority of that difference has to be solely down to the short-ratio gearbox. He could've had 50KW more, and he still would've been gapped. Can't wait to pick up my CM2 and start modding it. Doing chassis refresh, brakes, tires and gearbox first. Engine last. The H5 (5AT) box in the Accord is absolutely atrocious. Glad to be rid of the CU1 in that regard. A shame though, I love everything else about the car, but that drivetrain man...

On the flip side, you can get a little more out of TSX with bolt ons and a ECU reflash, while the IS is firmly boost-or-swap-or-leave-it-alone.
In appearance yes, practically no. The altezza is totally different to the IS300 in terms of character and in every conceivable way the Accord (whether euro r or type s with light modifications is better) unless you really want RWD. You didn’t even put the altezza in its sports mode..you’re clearly biased and with the 6spd manual version it’ll be a completely different story..and the beams engine has endless possibilities for mods I mean everyone turbos them and is one of the top engines to transplant for all kinds of motorsports but not the Hondas lol wonder why..everything apart from dash of the altezza is far better especially handling wise..you know how to drives mums old Honda but have no clue how to drive an altezza properly..at least come with facts not feelings
Absolutely I had it in sports mode are you blind? You can literally see the button pressed in every shot. The beams makes less power and a lot less torque than the k20a, and it objectively doesn't sound at good either. It sounds harsh, raspy and dull. It's a good engine, but it's overshadowed by Hondas offerings in every objective measure... Maybe that explains why the K swap is one of the most common engine swaps in the world. In NZ there are a few 3S engines in kit cars coz they need a rwd layout, but people put k engines into everything because they make way more power and are a lot easier to come by. 3S swaps worldwide are by comparison very rare. The Altezza has the advantage of being rwd, and with the 6 speed it'll be a great car I'm sure. But it lacks torque, sound and steering feel. Watch best motoring and even the CL1 Euro R humbles the Altezza, let alone the CL7 or a modified CL9. In terms of handling and straight line speed, I would be most confident my accord could beat any mildly modified 6 speed altezza on track and in a straight line. It's not feelings, it is fact.
I bet you haven't even driven "mum's old Honda" so you're just as biased as you claim I am.
@@KiwiCarLife you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about..you’ve got a close idea but no real idea..one quick google search will show you that from Japan motor sport to American motor sport man even African motor sport have a massive following for the 3SGE and there’s a massive difference between a re top and a black top or even pre Yamaha ie before all the head work..Hondas don’t sound they sound cheap and tinny the beams sounds near on the same..so overall you’re judging a factory auto vs a modded manual and came up with this video what an absolute wannabe..hahaha in a straight line because you can’t drive like you think you can…go watch the Japanese masters race a factory type r integra vs a factory 4dr altezza when they were both new and the type r couldn’t even keep up with the red top version yeah off the line the Honda had a minor lead but when actual driving comes into play there’s a reason basically every race car is rwd..next you’ll be showing us how your Honda can beat a automatic non turbo wrx..I wanted to support you because you’re a kiwi but now I just want humble you irl…”the k swap is the most common engine swap in the world” I just googled and k swap isn’t even in the top 10 mr know it all the b series seems to be far superior when it comes to performance..small block Chevy is #1 actually buddy but nah nah you know what you’re talking about..you couldn’t even drive the auto properly yet claims to know facts that have all be proven wrong
Bro I literally did a search for "common engine swaps" and either the B series or K series came up in every article and the 3S-GE came up in none. Hardly anyone uses this engine outside of it's original offerings because it's significantly overshadowed by Honda.
Coming out here and admitting that you just want to "humble me" shows you have no real intent on looking at a situation holistically, and you just want to be another awful person on the internet. Why don't you go make a video showing everyone "how to drive an auto properly" and watch it get 30 views before coming on here telling me how to drive.
I would be more than happy to race a modified 6 speed Altezza. And I have every confidence he wouldn't stand a chance.
01 rs200 z edition bid 930000yen with 1 Million km
Wow that's nuts haha
Driven heaps of them can't even hook 2nd whilst doing a burnout lol
Oh really?
@@KiwiCarLife if they had a better gearset they'd be mean I reckon
Do mazda sp20
Maybe
you are so based towards your car man, try compare cars you don't own
Yeah I know, I like my car
Rs200 manual shits on an accord.
Have you driven a modified accord?
@@m.b.82 At least you're honest haha! Reflash came from a guy here in NZ, not sure where to get one where you are, tein are good, and yeah altezzas are great cars. Yet to drive a manual one, but the k24 objectively is a better engine than the 3s. More modification potential, more torque and power in the long run, better sound imo, more displacement
comparing a 1998 automatic to a 2006 moded manual. great! 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah I later compared it with a manual one. I just took what cars I could get
Lol mate try your accord with a 6 speed manual altezza , why you even compare a automatic altezza with a manual accord lol. Well bring on a rematch 6speed manual altezza.
Know anyone with one?
@@KiwiCarLife got my turbo one haha
@@kasundassanayake1 that would be cool haha - you in Wellington?
soo uh you still want your legana bumper on your altezza🤣🤣🤣
Why? Do you want it?
@@KiwiCarLife when i got money hell yeah🤣🤣🤣
@@nathanielgeorge7054 oh lol it's not even my car haha you'll have to ask the owner
@@KiwiCarLife all right whos the owner🤣🤣
…..yes….yes it is. Lol 🤣
Hah
Mazda 6 MPS would hammer the crap outa both off these overrated things. Much nicer looking, more powerful, better handling and in the same size bracket as these 2 and from the same country and the same era.
Yes? The e90 M3 is better than these too! What a surprise... A Mazda 6 mps competes with euro r, legnum gt4, legacy sti, 335i, Audi S4... The accord and altezza are Mazda 6 2.3L n/a, legacy 2.5, 325i Audi A4 2.0T competitors. Not in the same league at all
@@KiwiCarLife In which case.. I'd still take the Mazda... Turbo or no turbo..! If I'm honest. My 2.2 diesel 185 HP can pull away from an Altezza Beams.. I dont need 260 HP to do it... 185 HP and good torque will do the job..Dont get me wrong. The Altezza and Accord are good cars.... But Mazda 6 is better in my opinion..
@@265justy the Mazda engine is thirsty. Sure they handle well stock and feel sharp but you're looking at like 11L/100kms for an auto M6 vs about 8. 4L/100 for an auto accord.
May not be the biggest consideration for you but I find it annoying when a car is thirsty without actually offering the x performance to justify the increased running costs.
@@christopherjohnston6343 Most cars with a Turbo are thirsty. You ether have economy or performance.... Can't have both.. If that's the case buy a high powered diesel..
@@265justy I was comparing like for like. Mazda 6 2.3 vs Accord Euro 2.4 - as my dad has owned both.
The MPS is certainly an awesome car but its another level up for sure
