Some very sweet little vans in the photos and lovely to see all those Thames Traders and Ford trucks that were so common on the roads of Australia. 🥰

Yes, that D Series Fire Tender ( @8:56) is at the Toddington Station of the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway. Hence the GWR Logo on the door. I saw it in Sept. 2011. Have a pic of it here too. That railway is a great day out (if you’re into that type of thing !!) with Steam and early Diesel units running between Broadway and Cheltenham.

@@PaulinesPastimes - Yes they were still fairly common when I was growing up in Adelaide back in the 1950s.

@@neilfromdownunder9204 I used to watch the drivers of Sydney buses with fascination as they made this hand flick in and out and tilt.

When I was fifteen I worked on Fords 7vs fitting recon engines an steering columns, the column I recall had to be threaded down through the observers hatch in the roof.

Most examples of these vehicles were worked to death many years ago. That's what makes these survivors extra special.

My service department foreman used to race a 300e van at Brands Hatch. Later a 105e.
We worked on Traders, Cortinas, Prefects, 83ws, Transit Vans.100es, zephyrs, Zodiacs and Consuls..
Also Allards with Ford V8 motors and the occasional Morgan with 10 hp side valve Ford Motor. Happy days.

The Regent Oil Company van LYR400 has a bell a la fire brigade mounted on the front bumper so it is likely a fire support control tender.

I'm old enough to remember Regent Oil, and Super National. I love these videos; they jog other memories.

Wonderful photos! I would love to have a small panel van restored with the proper painted signage here in the US.

I remember driving a new 307E van; they were extremely soft and slinky to drive… Far nicer than the A35 which I also drove at the time.

Very enjoyable; more E83W vehicles than I've ever seen before. No Standard Atlas vans made the cut?

Hi I've a feeling that a K8 appears in one of the vids so far but I'd have to check, they rarely pop up at shows I go to but I remember seeing the odd example

Ford had it made years ago, they made a vehicle for everyone’s needs and we’re very successful at it,look at them now with their present line up of vehicles, the Ford escort van was the vehicle of choice in those days along with the Transits, they’ve handed over the small van market to Peugeot,Citroen and Renault who never had a chance of ever competing with Ford on price or quality. Ford have gone from a highly successful company to a has been vehicle producer with engines like the 2litre diesel with its junk oiled belt design to its equally junk 1 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine. Ford are a spent force now offering very little choice for the buyer, they’ve destroyed what was a great company into something nobody recognises anymore. I always bought Ford year’s ago but the Kuga diesel with that useless automatic gearbox finished me and have never bought Ford since 2014. Their not a cheap vehicle anymore so buy BMW instead with their great Diesel engine’s and brilliant 8 speed gearbox’s.

A Series rarely turn up at events I go to, and regular Thames Traders feature in quite a few videos elsewhere on the channel.
