    It's funny that any change to the apartment is like a sales pitch to Tim :D

      😂 I never thought about it that way. I’m going to need business cards. Maybe show up in a pants suit one day.

    I suggest using blue painters tape and doing a complete mock-up of the build on the wall. This will help you visualise it best as well as make tweaks to the design before you start your cuts. You can also easily make adjustments as needed and alter your measurements before buying any wood.

      @@RoseRenovations You seem to be doing everything right (objective, personality, good editing, etc) and now just need to maintain consistency and let the algorithm do your thing. Growth (up to a limit) follows an exponential scale, so initially it'll be a slow grind but then it'll snowball quickly if you keep it up!

    Like you said, it's not your forever home. Consider IKEA hacks. Lots of TH-cam videos on IKEA bookcase, cabinet, entertainment center, etc. A little bit of trim carpentry to tie everything together and you can have stunning results on a budget. Save yourself the time, effort, hassle, and agony of building your own book cases, cabinets, etc. Good luck and best wishes to you.

      I agree, I had looked into ikea as my first option, but we couldn’t find cheap book cases that were deep enough. The Billy book case is only 11 inches deep, and the ones that were kind of deep enough were very over budget to do a whole wall. We figured that this was the most cost effective.

    Oh the trim carpenter in me is screaming already and I've barely watched the video. BTW I am a professional carpenter and I did build my own built-ins for my basement around the age of 22 like 2-3 years ago. Still haven't fully finished that project aka I want to change some thangs but otherwise its good. I have a fully functional built in movie theater with bookshelves and more bookshelves in the workout room. Its not easy but its definitely worth while to get the custom dimensions store bought products didn't offer. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to holler. I'm a 25 year old journeymen carpenter and been doin trim and framing for five years so far. I've learned a lot like a whole lot of what not to do and a whole lot of what to do instead. xD

    Rose, I LOVE how you are using a grow light in that lamp for the tree! I'm absolutely going to do that in my new home (if I ever get there :()! Best idea. Was it Tim's?
    I've seen a lot of people make big TV/entertainment centres by using IKEA furniture as the structure, connecting it all together and building around it. Might be a bit easier than doing it all from scratch and IKEA isn't that expensive here in the UK, so I assume it's the same there but I'm sure you'll find lots of videos/blog posts about it if you search but I've seen some look similar to your drawing.

      Thank you! The grow light was all me :) he was all for it. I had the idea of IKEA too. I’ve seen some pretty amazing set ups. Unfortunately though for us. The ikea shelves weren’t deep enough here. I considered doing the Billy bookcase but it’s only 11 inches deep… the Billy but deeper isn’t sold in the US anymore :(. You’ll totally get there with your house though. I’ll be tuned in waiting for that day!

      @@RoseRenovations that’s a shame, but building it yourself is going to make grey content and it will feel so good when it’s done! My friends just done one in her house and it looks amazing. Her partner is very good with woodwork though and I know we wouldn’t be able to achieve that.

    I love Tim's facial expression when you mic him with no advanced warning! 🤣 Also, are you done with the bedroom now, i.e. just painting 2 walls? Or, are you coming back to the bedroom later?

    When you buy your materials, you just want to make sure you get at least a paint grade plywood. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out! PS what is Tim playing on the switch? I need some game suggestions!

    • @RoseRenovations
      @RoseRenovations  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ll have to make sure we get that! Oh gosh Tim has so many…. He’s got a lot of Mario games but I’ll have to ask him. Recently we started playing “it takes two” which is a two person game. Super fun! Highly recommend it.

      Im currently playing Dredge on the switch. But it really depends on what genre of game you like. There's TONS of RPGs if you're into that. FF pixel remaster collection. Dragon Quest XI, Y's series, Eiyuden Chronicles I was playing earlier which is a good throw back.
      Strategy game: Advanced Wars 1+2 Reboot came is solid but HARD. Unicorn overload is good.
      Mario is always a blast for platforms. Mario Wonder is amazing, Mario bros + Bowsers Fury I'm convinced is the future of the series. Odyssey.
      My collection is pretty big so I can recommend a lot depends on the genre you like.

    Nooooo. Ok. Here is what you need for materials. Clear pine for the trim (3/4" x whatever width you want) and birch plywood for the plywood (a 1/4" for the back and a 1/2" for the sides and shelves). They are materials that are rated for finish work and are stained/paint grade. Also you'll need to get a finish trim gun to nail everything together along with your brad gun. Also pocket screws and glue are your friends. FYI the glue is what holds everything together long term and the screws/nails are like a clamp.

      @RoseRenovations  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow! Thanks for all the info. We’re on our way to the store now to purchase wood. Will definitely make sure that I get finish grade paintable plywood! We’re just doing the internal structure for now and then I’ll def have to reference back to your comment to make sure I get the right trim too! I appreciate all the feedback :). It’s always nice when professionals let me know what to do! So thank you.
