Recently replaced my Auto Zone starter 234k miles. I removed starter and installed with my jeep tools. Recommend swivel head 3/8 ratchet wrench. Used small bungie strap to hold automatic transmission cable away from bolt heads.I recommend removing the staples from heat shield. I large zip tie heat shield.
Thanks for this video. Ive just took out the old one off and I’m hooking up the new one which I got off Amazon. I’m having a problem where the push plug isn’t locking in.
@@BeyondTheScale that’s what I was afraid of but when I tried it on the original starter it clicks in. This is the second time I bought a part from Amazon and had issues with - Never again. I’m going to the dealership to buy the part as I need the jeep up and running and never taking chances with Amazon again.
For sure, this one did stop working all together for me. It didn't make any noise when starting but I do know it can make a clicking sound when bad as well. Also verifying that your battery is good prior to checking the starter is always a good idea. Thanks for the comment, hope this helps!

I'm guessing it's that black plastic connector? If so the connector itself may have a piece broken that doesn't retain it.

@@stevenm1832 Yeah I generally use Rockauto.com and haven't been burned yet. Hope you get it going soon. 👍👍
Thanks for the video. Would you mind saying why you replaced your starter? Did it stop working or was it making a noise?

Bro this is dark you gotta show us the location of the starter first… some of us are new to this
I would agree on the darkness. It certainly was not the best especially if you're newer to automotive work.
