    I bought one of these in 2021. The first time I tried to pair it with my network it took at least 8 attempts to pare. Recently my router crashed and I had to re-pare my Sonoff with my network. It took around 15 attempts to do so (I nearly gave up and was going to throw it away). These things are ridiculously hard to pair in my experience. I would avoid them.

    Test between the input and output terminals - I have found these units to be incorrectly labelled, so the switch is in the line marked neutral.
    The work fine if you ignore L & N labels.

      The Sonoff would still need to be connected to the Wifi as it does not have any SIM card on it to connect to the mobile network. If the Wifi is connected to the internet, you will be able to reach the switch.

    Hate to be a dreary zealot of the wiring regulations, but just to point out - severing the earth cable on this lamp, a class 1 (metal) appliance, would make it fail a PAT test. A live fault in the lamp could make it live and a fuse would not blow... and we all know what could ensue - yeah - death! The only way to make this safe would be to join the earth cables around the Sonoff unit, maintain it's integrity. Annoying that many of these switches don't come with a terminal to place our good old earth.

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I had to use 3 switches as I have 6 wires coming from a real traffic light. I followed your instructions on wiring the switches and when I plugged the 3 plugs in nothing happened. The lights didn't come on. Can you please tell where I might have wrong? Do I have to install the app before anything happens? I am using Alexa. Many thanks Paul

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have a real traffic light!? Lol
      I won't ask how you got that, its probably first worth testing if each traffic light is actually working so wire directly to the mains and test if that works, if all good then connect up the the smart switch and configure the app to control it. Yes you will need to configure the app for that to work. Let me know how it goes, would be interesting to hear.

    • @TheAlpfire

      Sorry I was on the phone. Yes it's real and I got a bloody shock when it arrived. It's massive. I got it on ebay for my kitchen wall thinking it was more of a toy one. I got that wrong. The seller said it was working but needed connecting to the Switch so I had to buy one for each light as there was 3 blue and 3 brown wires . The only thing I haven't done is load the app which you say I need to do.

    these are not designed to be used as a open unit as you will need to joint the earth through. this way is unsafe.
    these could be easily pulled out by a child exposing live wires. device is no longer farther aswell.
    best to put all this into a project box and join the earth through with a waggo or screw block.
    that way it is then a sealed unit.
