Just looking at the red plastic "cover" gives me the impression of it being rather thin, which might not bode well for its longevity. To improve that it could be a good idea to have something like a "thick woolen sock" which you pull over it as the actual surface to use and remove again to prevent it from getting wet. This might also prevent the "sticky plastic" problem (your call if it is happening or not), which could be the case if it is something like clingfilm.

It’s duct tape wrapped around a 2x2 on top and 2x4 on the bottom with some cut pool noodles in between. 2x12 for the seat.
