@@Alysses Who brought the rice to the Caribbean? the Spanish did. Have you heard about Paella? It is the national dish of Spain and it is rice with many ingredients. The gandules (native crop from India and southern Asia known as Tuar Dal and also eaten with rice in Asia) were brought in from Canary Islands to Puerto Rico which was usually the first stop in the Caribbean and sofrito which is the way it is seasoned comes from the Mediterranean. It became popular in Puerto Rico and the rest of the Caribbean because it had the perfect climate for the crop. The recipe is unique to Puerto Rico even though you can find same ingredients in the region. You do not know what you are talking about.
Thank you papa I'm glad somebody finally realizes that we're not that bad and we're very accepting of everyone we is how you treat us that's what matters to most Puerto Ricans respect tones and actions
Our African roots are celebrated through the island in the form of our traditional dance of the "Bomba" which originated with West African slaves who were brought to the island in the 18th century to work the sugar cane fields. It's a traditional dance that we as Puerto Rican identified with and are enormously proud to call ours. This is just one way we celebrate those roots. They are also very present in our gastronomy, arts, history, music and in our culture. This island welcomes all new comers with open arms! Absolutely love this and wish you the best of luck with your business on the island.
You are welcome the way it should be: with empathy, dignity and respect . You said it right: everyone should come to our island in a respectful manner and willing to blend in 😃. Thank you for showing the Puerto Rican hospitality and kindness.
That’s amazing! I hope you’re having a beautiful time and love it there. I am hoping to return and likely never go back to the US. I miss it and didn’t appreciate it as much I should’ve.
Thank you because in Puerto Rico we do not discriminate, what we get mad at is when people don't respect our people and land but we are proud of our roots and respect everyone.
My man, as a puertorican I appreciate how you come about our island & the respect you give to us. That’s why your transition has been good overall. We’re all the same c we’re mixed & we aren’t racist at all. We’ll be opened to help & be courteous as long as others come with respect & stay within the lines of being a normal citizen. The problem comes when people regardless of race try to come to the island to implement their entitlement & negative energy to us. We have lines that no one can cross, not even locals. I’m glad your experience is positive & I appreciate you for the way you handle yourself on the island.
My brother, I'm a proud puerto rican that is proud to know that I have african roots! As far as color, there is ignorance everywhere! But most puerto ricans just show love so we welcome all to puerto rico. Just respect!
Yes, be carefull. We have a beautiful Island but you need to take care wherever you are, and who are around you. Take care on beaches too, is not the best season to take a shower, but if you want to go do not enter alone. God bless you and enjoy. Sorry my english, best wishes. A puertorrican lady..

There are some people that are racist, belive it or not, here in PR. But those are people that are air headed because the rest of us know where we came from. Hope you have a wonderful experience in our island!
Trill have you experienced a Bomba and plena dance? Thats where you can see how deep are our african roots and how we honor our ancestors through dance
How about asking him if he ever looked into the indigenous people of the island meaning of Tainos I think too many people Brown nose everybody else and don't give enough respect to the indigenous people which are the tainos.. brother trill find out about the Tainos that is a great culture as well everybody Brown noses every other culture and every other race try looking up the Taino .. there are all types of ancient indigenous sites that you can check out everybody always talks about the African culture but nobody talks about the people that were on the island prior to the Africans culture.....
That's the difference between Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. Puerto Ricans brag about their mixed ancestry. In Dominican Republic they have a higher percentage of African heritage but are embarrassed by it.
Hands down to making that move. You’re flooded with questions bc so many are curious/ready to leave the treatment in the states. More will be leaving especially, after this past election. It’s that ocean & views for me. A spiritual reset. Thank you!
My Son looks black and that's because he has Afro-Caribbean roots and bilingual. When my son goes to visit PR no one looks at him or notice him when he speaks both languages but when he returns to the states and speak Spanish people be shocked because they have no clue he is Puerto Rican. He always gets the " oh I thought you were black" and he goes " well I am black and Puerto Rican" and they are all looking puzzled. I don't think people will really understand the complexity of our culture unless they are open minded and truly love our culture to actually get it and I wish a lot of people would think as positive as you do.
Thank you for sharing this... means a lot to me because of a personal experience I have in Texas. when i was in the university. because I am Puertorican I identify as Black/white. I was at an event and i introduce myself as such. A black girl talked about black heritage, I explain what you just explained about Puertorican heritage. Then she called me a colorist. felt like she was disproving my identity. but thank you. This video would probably overtake that memory.
I'm Puerto Rican and I'm very aware of my African roots. 27% of my DNA is African. I love my brown & black people!!! 🇵🇷 🇵🇷 🇵🇷 ! Welcome to Puerto Rico!!!
African Americans Belong here, our identity as PuertoRicans is not tied to the color of our skin, we all have at least one Black grandparent, black cousins, we are family, we are one thing: PuertoRicans. Thanks for loving our island bro, God Bless You!

It’s also important to mention to support their local businesses and communities as much as you can. I know we want to come from the states and start our own businesses there and thrive but Puerto Rico is sacred land and the culture there is sacred. we want to keep it that way for the natives of the island and respect them.
Being real with you, I didn't know about racism until I moved to the US from PR. I was literally slapped in the face when I saw how they treat blacks and other races. While I was more accepted because of my skin being "white" my brothers were not as accepted. I remember my principal over here in the US calling me and my brother to the office only to look confused, like he never seen someone as dark as my brother have a sister as white as me. I had to explain that I took after my mom while my broder took after my dad. In PR they just look at us and go. "Im calling your mom."

🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
@ we are the same people different boat stop ! And as you said the Afrikan traditions that survived in the island are as yours as they are for any of us ! Reconnect, re indigenize and reclaim what is also yours !
Thank you my brother for sharing, as a puerto rican i support you for being real!
I appreciate that
Hearing your positive experience has made my day. Thanks for sharing this.
Black is beautiful and is in our culture, and we love it. Welcome to our beautiful island. 🇵🇷🏝
🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
@MariaAlvarez=d7q Rican women are designated as the white 🗑of the Latin race.😂
All brother & sisters are welcome to Puerto Rico to be in touch with the african roots that are very strong in the Caribbean.
VERY!
You’re there during the best time of the year! Felicidades and enjoy all the festivities. You are correct on the police…. Don’t start nothing won’t be nothing. Welcome home 🇵🇷
Thank you! You too!
Glad to see you doing well
My dawg. It’s in us not on us. Always was. Hope all is well family.
Trill, I truly admire your boldness, courage and positive attitude, while letting the whole world know, that you are one human being who appreciates Puerto Rico enough, to actually live there. I was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and grew up in New York City. Looking back now, I wonder how different it would have been, if I lived all my life, on that wonderful Island! I believe I missed out in many ways. It is someone like YOU, who helps me be proud of where I was born. I hope to go visit the Island, soon (2025). I wish it was sooner. Yes, Puerto Rico has many problems to work on, improve, and make better. In the meantime, it is STILL, the number one caribbean destination in my book! All the best to you, Trill! Joe.
Thanks so much!
Yo Trill is the truth!!!
Everything was very well said and with the utmost respect even if/when there’s harsh truth and reality being told!!!
🇵🇷 is Yoruba’s 🇳🇬 baby whether ppl want to believe it or not!!!
African culture is LITERALLY IN EVERYTHING WE ARE AND DO just with some type of twist to it!!!! Even Puerto Rican Spanish is very African!!! We just say these African things with a Spanish accent….
Big up Trill!!!!!
YOU OUR BROTHA!!!!!!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
our culture is completely Hispanic because we were never segregated. want to see african culture? go to Jamaica, Virgin Islands or Antigua.
@@reucat24 You sound incredibly ignorant. That arroz con gandules you eat--African. That mofongo you eat-- African. El "bochinche" you are trying to create-- African word. I say African because our roots are from el Congo, Nigeria, even Ethiopia, many places in Africa and those that know know. Always claiming those that don't want to claim you. Spain doesn't even recognize Puerto Rico.
No problem!
I’m very happy to hear my people and island have treated you well and welcomed you.
🙏🏾
Our African roots are celebrated through the island in the form of our traditional dance of the "Bomba" which originated with West African slaves who were brought to the island in the 18th century to work the sugar cane fields. It's a traditional dance that we as Puerto Rican identified with and are enormously proud to call ours. This is just one way we celebrate those roots. They are also very present in our gastronomy, arts, history, music and in our culture. This island welcomes all new comers with open arms! Absolutely love this and wish you the best of luck with your business on the island.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Every person I met from PR was solid. 😎 nothing but love
🙏🏾

Welcome to Puerto Rico... you're welcome we love everyone 💝
❤️
You are welcome the way it should be: with empathy, dignity and respect . You said it right: everyone should come to our island in a respectful manner and willing to blend in 😃. Thank you for showing the Puerto Rican hospitality and kindness.
That’s amazing! I hope you’re having a beautiful time and love it there. I am hoping to return and likely never go back to the US. I miss it and didn’t appreciate it as much I should’ve.
I hope so too!
I respect your honesty bro! Enjoy the beauty of the island!
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you because in Puerto Rico we do not discriminate, what we get mad at is when people don't respect our people and land but we are proud of our roots and respect everyone.
Hey Trill, just dropping bye, hope you enjoyed the Sanse. Saw you having a good time, love your stuff brother.
I did! Will be back out today! Much love!
I love it everybody there wants to feed you and give you drink! Its a good vibe!
Yes!
Those skies and that water !!!!! 🤩🔥🌊
🔥🔥🔥🔥
My man, as a puertorican I appreciate how you come about our island & the respect you give to us. That’s why your transition has been good overall. We’re all the same c we’re mixed & we aren’t racist at all. We’ll be opened to help & be courteous as long as others come with respect & stay within the lines of being a normal citizen. The problem comes when people regardless of race try to come to the island to implement their entitlement & negative energy to us. We have lines that no one can cross, not even locals. I’m glad your experience is positive & I appreciate you for the way you handle yourself on the island.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
My brother, I'm a proud puerto rican that is proud to know that I have african roots! As far as color, there is ignorance everywhere! But most puerto ricans just show love so we welcome all to puerto rico. Just respect!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Welcome to your new home and your new family. Just remember that there are some bad areas in PR that you should learn about and stay away from if. 🙏🏻
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you 🎉❤ enjoy & have fun!!
Thank you! Will do!
Yes! We welcome everyone!!!
Welcome to PR it’s my first time watching your video and bro I like it so again u at more than welcome I am from the south I am in Ponce so enjoy the island!
🤙✌️
Awesome thank you!
Sounds like wonderful place ❤
It is!
You need to go and visit
We have a saying in Puerto Rico, "If you ain't Dinka you are Mandinka" meaning we all have African blood. We all Have an African Great Grandparent and we come in all shades of awesome!
💯
Welcome to the island brother. Thanks for your words.
No doubt!
Yo stroll at minute 2:30 you hit the nail right on! Dont bring the ish from the States. Thats what I told all my NYC family members who came to visit and act a fool here. They always came here and either loved it or hated it, it’s all in their attitude.
Glad to have you here bud!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I’m full Puerto Rican & always was tough about having African in our DNA since lil kid I think it’s pretty cool
Super cool!
Thanks for respecting our culture and appreciating the locals.
* The cost of living is extremely high for locals. Affordable housing is scarce, wages are low, and the prices of utilities, food, and rent remain high.
There are some people that are racist, belive it or not, here in PR. But those are people that are air headed because the rest of us know where we came from. Hope you have a wonderful experience in our island!
I love this video. True words! We are all connected ❤
❤️
Trill have you experienced a Bomba and plena dance? Thats where you can see how deep are our african roots and how we honor our ancestors through dance
I will check it out soon!
Yes! You'll wnjoy it. @@trilleats
Welcome home my bro! Mi casa es tu casa ✊🏽 🇵🇷
That's the difference between Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. Puerto Ricans brag about their mixed ancestry. In Dominican Republic they have a higher percentage of African heritage but are embarrassed by it.
They’re just glorified Haitians … light skinned (mulato) Haitian …!
THANKS FOR SHARING THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND I AM FROM THE BRONX NYC AND PUERTO RICANS ARE COOL AND ARE WITH US
Hands down to making that move. You’re flooded with questions bc so many are curious/ready to leave the treatment in the states. More will be leaving especially, after this past election. It’s that ocean & views for me. A spiritual reset. Thank you!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
My Son looks black and that's because he has Afro-Caribbean roots and bilingual. When my son goes to visit PR no one looks at him or notice him when he speaks both languages but when he returns to the states and speak Spanish people be shocked because they have no clue he is Puerto Rican. He always gets the " oh I thought you were black" and he goes " well I am black and Puerto Rican" and they are all looking puzzled. I don't think people will really understand the complexity of our culture unless they are open minded and truly love our culture to actually get it and I wish a lot of people would think as positive as you do.
Thank you for saying so many wonderful things about Puerto 🇵🇷 RICO
It really is!
Great video!!! very informative, good job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome brother, our island is beautiful 🇵🇷🙏🏽
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you for sharing this... means a lot to me because of a personal experience I have in Texas. when i was in the university. because I am Puertorican I identify as Black/white. I was at an event and i introduce myself as such. A black girl talked about black heritage, I explain what you just explained about Puertorican heritage. Then she called me a colorist. felt like she was disproving my identity. but thank you. This video would probably overtake that memory.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Glad you enjoying PR my brother
🙏🏾
I appreciate what you doing, peace bro.
I appreciate that
Glad you like my country. We are simple but happy people.Enjoy our climate all year around!
I love it!
Thank you! I’m glad you feel welcome.❤ Yes, home is almost paradise. Yes, we welcome everyone as long as they are well behaved. You got that right!
🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you for speaking your truth love your video
Absolutely!
Thanks for loving our island bro, God Bless You!
im sorry but nooo. blk and white americans are deforming puerto ricans every generation
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hidden history
Puerto Rico is the home of the African-American

Thank you! Will do!
Mr. . Trill you are welcomed to our Island. Enjoy.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
"Im calling your mom."
great video my parents are from PR everytime i leave the states to visit i dont want to leave its beautiful over there
...good luck on your journey..keep the vids coming
Glad you enjoyed it
We are proud people with our Spanish, taino and African heritage blood, we love our heritage and mix roots. I'm multiracial, and I only went to the USA and felt so much discrimination, 😢 I'm glad you have experienced the other side of our culture, why we are so proudly blessed born in this island 🏝️❤.
🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
God bless you I’m Puerto Rican from Chicago and did you know that Puerto Ricans are Indian Spanish and African? That’s what a Puerto Rican is made of God bless you.
🙏🏾
You said it right. As long as you don't come to our island trying to be disrespectful or with a superiority complex, we open our arms to any visitor who is willing to become a member of the puertorrican community! And I don't know if you have had this experience, but if someone calls you "negro" or "negrito", don't be offended because it's NOT the same as being called the N word in the US . 😉
