    Well done with this piece of footage. Really shows what they mean about the weather turning suddenly on the big lakes. Well handled!

    Hi Harry... Years ago we (when I say we there was 5 X 8berth boats...) travelled from Drumaneer to Terryglass on the Easter bank holiday weekend and I'm nearly sure there was at least 7ft waves... just ask your brother in law Jim. This is his son btw, hehe!!!

      Hi Ye Jay, good to hear from ye. Now there's no way I'd believe a word that Jim says 😂😂😂 But ye I know it can be very bad out on the lake. Glad you're enjoying the videos, sure they're a bit of fun as well as showing off what we think is the best waterway in Europe if not the world. 👍

    Dear Mar, another great video, thank you. I write this to comfort you.
    Just this afternoon I moved off in fair weather & beautiful skies. My destination was the port of Barcelona. Forecast promised a smooth warm journey. I dressed lightly in shorts & teashirt, checked that all was secure, double checked my compass bearings and estimated my journey to be 2hrs 10mins.
    After 45 mins I recognised a weather squawl ahead in the skies. 😣
    I had to make a decision as a single Master entity. Do I cut engine and lose momentum to get myself weather-geared up for this storm; or do I continue towards the port of Barcelona at a faster rate, to beat the storm?
    Well my ego decided for me; that I should fight my way through this big cloud and so I increased speed, now up to 250kph, everything balanced, shorts and teashirt tucked in, elbows & knees sheltered; safe in the knowledge that I have another 50kph in reserve. I could possibly miss this storm if I progress at 300kph.😁
    Then it came ... a thunderous explosion 😨😨😨 from the heavens!!!
    Still I challenge these outwordly forces. Rising now towards 270kph my knees are now numb and cold. My hands, my head, ... all my limbs are sore and tired. I am just waiting for my inner strength to take over.
    Then the inevitable happens!😲😱
    It begins to rain!
    A no no in my book in Spain.
    Took my expensive motorbike to a roadside motel and booked in for the night haha!
    Yes harry & Mar & subscribers ... we all have chicken points. And that is okay.
    I see Harry aware of Mar's chicken point.
    I see my bike aware of my chicken point. I see me aware that my chicken point is safely below my bike's capabilities.
    If I had had a girlfriend on the back of my bike during todays journey then I am sure that we would have been travelling at 90kms! (With occasional spurts of 200). 😁😁😁
    Keep it coming you two .

      Ye, I was thinking that was a bit fast for a boat 😂 Always say that the boat should be able to take more than the skipper can. And I guess a similar rule applies to bikes. Still, it sounds like a good bike trip 👍 Keep watching 👍

    Love the vids, we are hopefully picking up our 1970 33ft pedro in athlone next week, you inspired our family to do a blog, not as nice as yers tho, from the time we board the boat, to fixing her up and getting her ready for spring. So wish us luck getting across lough ree to lough key, also if you could, can you recommend 3 marinas with electric we can visit on our way up, i was thinkn from coosan to lanesboro, then maybe tarmonbarry, not sure on tarmon barry, any where you recommend between lanesboro and coosan? Then dromod, carrick, then home to lough ree, thanks guys, Joe ,Shirley, and Ben

      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Guys, Congrats on your investment, Pedro make a nice boat. There's electric in Lecarrow and in Ballyleague/Lanesborough and both are nice moorings. No power in Termonbarry - Rooskey - Drommon - Drumsna or Jamestown. Next stop with power is in Carrick. But there is also power in lough Key. Looking forward to seeing the blog, good on ye.

      Think there are 4 sockets in Richmond harbour but you'd be lucky to get one. Don't know of any others before Carrick tho, no power in Dromod.

    Hi lads, lovely vlog again. I feel I know ye as friends at this stage, even though you never met me. My photo is a good few years old. I live overseas so if & when we do meet, I'll have the advantage, for a few minutes anyway.LOL. Harry, you seem to be a bit of a worrier, the boat touching off the bottom, pressure & water guages etc. Don't be worrying about these things, worrying won't help anyway. Relax & enjoy, like Marion.
    Also, I know we give-out about the rain etc, but without it we wouldn't have the boating! Thanks for video. Looking forward to the next one. Beni.

      Hi Beni, Yes I'm thinking of taking up Palates, Yoga and even a few Zumba classes to ease this worrying, that might sort me😂 But there's not much I can do about the rain. Which BTW is worse than ever today 👍

      @@DriftwoodBoatBlog No Harry, there,s not much that you can do about the rain(TG) but as I said before, we wouldn't have the lakes or rivers without it! As for the worrying, that won't change anything.NJoy!

    Not so nice weather, but we are not afraid of this kind of weather. We are always careful and accusrtomed all kind of weathers. We star Banagher 1st oc and maybe reach leitrim and Battlebridge.

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, and you will see plenty of this kind of weather in October. However occasionally you see it in the mid summer too! Enjoy your holiday Kalevi 😃

      @@DriftwoodBoatBlog Yes, we are always very careful(last year in Ireland , I got from owner of our boat name "weatherman" (very much examining before go to rough weather and if too rough, not going at all)., I have tried to learn boat handling many , many years, and hours I cant count(maybe tried to learn almost 500 hours). I say: "I am nott good, I am always keen to learn more and more...:
      I am very happy that I have possibility to see your videos and maybe sometimes to see you. We have many friends in Ireland. 1 st oct we try to start from Banagher on board Silver Shadow (boattype Haines 360), not as luxury as same kind of private boats, but anyway I expect to enjoy it. Bridge lovering height is minimum 3,10 m(canopy and windscreens lowered). If weather is good we cruise to Lecarrow 1st oct, maybe only Athlone marina.
