- You're not supposed to see this stuff. Hidden in the game files of Rocket League, Psyonix has many secrets. Over the years data-mining "hackers" have been able to dig out some interesting things. Unreleased items, prototype game modes, abandoned ideas and experiments. In this video we take a look at some of these finds and talk about what might have been. Imagine Rocket League with a mini-map? Why hasn't underglow been released yet? What's the volley-ball test map? While leaks often happen just before big updates or releases, today we focus on game content, cosmetics, and ideas that never saw the light of day.

Good video, but just pointing something that was said wrong in the video: Actually, the old curved Wasteland is still in the game. They changed the name to Badlands and is exclusive to Rumble map rotations.
@@ttechnology_ I didn't mean/say it wasn't in the game. I am aware it is in rumble but extra modes are not that popular and most players probably weren't around in the days curved wasteland was in ranked which is why I referred to it as something that "used to exist".

I can’t believe people hated the non standard maps in ranked. The old wastelands was so fun and high scoring because the ball funnels toward the nets. And the shelves on Tokyo were so cool too. It’s a shame I only get to experience them in casual or private these days.
They both appear in Rumble now too.

non-standard maps were the bane of people trying to get better at Rocket League. That said it is such a shame they were removed rfom non-competitve.

Neatmike's flag was in the file ready to be added with Woofless and Jonsandman, but Psyonix decided they hate him, so they did not add. Sad.
I was only able to find a few repeated references to this on twitter but no actual proof. I feel like it was a rumor and not actually in the files.

You can see NeatMike flag, but his command is with big F not small f and it would be funny if that would be reason why it didn't work after the update :D
5:53 he is actualy mentioning flags - funny is his side note "why..." :D
@@Rocket_Sledge All of F2 were set to get a flag. NeatMike even leaked his flag on a video a week before the update titled "What it's like to Play Rocket League as a GIRL" in a split-second screenshot at the 16.26 mark. Then the release happened and his flag was nowhere to be found. Mike's next video made mention of it, then he went for a very long time not uploading videos for awhile.
Now, I don't remember what all happened around that time, but I seem to recall Mike going on a rant on Psyonix right before the update, so I'm not sure if that's what happened or if it was due to breaking the NDA on video.
Honestly though, I love to see something like Volleyball.
All I want is lots of different types of game modes, not just the same ones like Heatseeker all over again.

The mini map would be cool for them to add as a spectator mode or replay mode option
Back in the day I deleted Aquadome from my game files because it was literally unplayable. It blows my mind that they decided to implement a glitchy map that would destroy anyone's FPS into competitive.
Then they started applying increasingly ban penalties of 15 minutes for every Aquadome match cancelled because of it not existing in your game files. Stupid decision to ban people instead of fixing the map right away (just finished the video and yeah, it was because of people removing Wasteland, not Aquadome, but still) At least they fixed the map performance at some point.

I literally just learned how to do the labs_Underpass_P.upk thing today, good thing you mentioned that I would get banned if I queued up for rumble! Cause I do sometimes play it
That happened to me, but the ban was only for 10 mins, so nothing to worry about. I just chose different map files to that don’t interfere with rumble. Hope this helps.

Treasure Hunt and 500 sounds really fun
"can we get a minimap? Everytime I go for ball I crash into teammates" If this is you (You cannot tell if your teammate is in your way) a minimap wont help. If you cant see it infront of you, you wont see a little blip on a map in the corner of your screen. After years of playing if you always crash into your team, you will never learn to avoid it. You haven't tried being better, just want the game to make you better. Dont work like that.
a mini map is actually the worst idea i ever heard about.. even worse then undetglow
you cant find a curvy wasteland on competitive (not sure about casual) but you can find it on a private match if you add it

It’s interesting that volleyball now exists in rocket league sideswipe. It’s probably because it’s much easier to do aerials in rlss and lower ranked players can play
The only thing I was aware of was the minimap part. Everything else was new to me

You should do, every save you make = +1 score and every goal so people don’t don’t push. Or if you do a shot on target without a goal then you get -1 score.
Your previous videos seemed to go through content a taaaad slowly, but this one was perfect! I think because this one had less slow video effects and less pauses for clip transitions. Nice job, love ya!!

Was the Octane: Dragon decal always paintable in bakkesmod or not? I just found out yesterday.
I think there are several items you can paint with bakkesmod that were never released with painted variants. As for that decal in particular I'm not sure. You could look it up and see though.

I hate Wasteland with a passion. Ever since they first implemented it. The worst thing is that it's not even some big thing that you can adapt to after a while. You just clip the ground and can't do anything about it. Doesn't matter of you played in the map for years or if it's your first time on it.

Yea that's actually where it's been starting to be used. The examples I showed were RLCS Grid streams.
This explains why the updates are so stupidly huge
Updates are usually huge because they package as much things as they can. Planning an update across 4 platforms is a big deal, especially with the different procedures for each company so whenever you do one you try to be efficient and plan ahead as much as possible. Content that comes in an update might not actually be scheduled for release until a month later even.
@@Rocket_Sledge I feel ya, perhaps "stupidly' was poor word choice 😅 I was basically chalking it up to squirreling up assets for maybe later usage after watching this, especially if it's media related.
I think it would be pretty cool if you could turn on the minimap, IF YOU WANT TO. Like a setting or something
As I said in the video it negates the awareness skill that has been developed over years. While making it selectable does solve the issue of players not wanting it on their screen that isn't the reason that most would be against it. It's too much of a change/crutch to introduce at this point. The right (an only) time was at launch. It's never going to happen now.

On the topic of the map files, are there any penalties for changing config files for improved FPS and overall performance?
It’s funny cuz under glow is coming in season 8 for me only the civic
But it's not underglow. The reasons I explained in this video still exist. The Civic has "edgelight" which will not be reflected on the ground.

Why doesn’t psyonix put better items in the item shop? That is straight credits being spent if they put good items in the item shop. Also, the “price” of credits would go up because that is how you buy the items (obviously). Has psyonix not seen the nothing to something videos? People don’t need a bunch of credits for trading with each other if they are smart. Just saying

@@heybuddyrl395 I mean if they had issues with things not selling (and thus them not making much money) I'm sure they would make a change. Cosmetics are subjective though so I'm sure there's others that do like that stuff. I know a couple people myself that buy every painted scarab that comes to the shop.
