Woke up to such an amazing surprise! Best Saturday morning ever! I really wanted my coffee to enjoy this but I was to lazy and I really just wanted to watch your video 😅. I have only made Zadie once and definitely need to downsize on the pants next time. I Think I am now inspired to make the Farris as it looks such a lovely style and I really like drawstring waists too😃

For drawstrings, I sometimes use parachute cord, but I love your shoestring idea too. I love jumpsuits on you and congratulations on conquering the Named Clothing dress! Wow, you’re vest is gorgeous, so delicate and wonderful yarn choice, you’re mum did a stellar job on that. And those cushions 😍😍 they’ve turned out amazing, love velvet it’s just that next level isn’t it! Great makes, I had to chop a load off of my Reeta toile and I did give that a crack as a newbie 😳😳. One thing I do need to do is remember to write notes as I’m making not try to remember at the end. Great vlog Ruan 💚

The best way to finish off the cord is to use a match or lighter to melt the ends together, being careful not to set fire to it. 😊💙🧶🌈🍓

For those gorgeous cushions, I would top stitch an inch from the edges. That will shrink the inside, but not the outside look.

Tucked away it is .. we went round the block a couple of times but found it at second attempt. Left hubby in the car with a newspaper. All those beautiful linens, cotton lawn and wool .. oh dear !!!

Beautiful makes as always, I did a named clothing pattern in my early days of sewing and it was only culottes but didn’t like the instructions put me off trying there patterns again. Have a fab time at knitting and stitching pretty sure be able to join you for the live. I’m going to Harrogate but the Thursday gutted not same day as your all going flipping work!! Love your Zadie, think I may need some animal print now😂 I was unsure about the Zadie for ages but then gave it a go & made a plain one which sat in my wardrobe for months. Not sure why though because I love it now I’ve actually worn it & made a second one in print too which I’ve just shared on IG & had so may compliments on it😊 I think it’s going to be well worn on my upcoming hols🤞

Love your Zadie Ruan!!! I love a bit of animal print but surprisingly have very little in my me made wardrobe 🤷♀️ I’m working on that though 😂 I’ve made 2 Zadies so far but never wear them. I just feel like a wee dumpy doddy in them because of my menopause tummy and short legs 😂 I really need to get them out and try styling them again. I’d love to see the knitting and stitching show vlog, I can never find any shows up here in Scotland. 💞💞

Your makes are lovely and the knit vest from your mom is amazing! A tip for stopping the fraying of the ties is to burn the ends. I do that when using straps for bag making. It melts the ends if the are synthetic. Very excited to see the live next weekend and loving all your videos lately 🤩🤩🥳🥳🇨🇦🇨🇦

Beautiful makes! I am cutting out the Zadie as I watch! I like lots of ease so I chose to go by my measurements, we will see how that works. I will lengthen, I am 5’10”. You must vlog about the show, I wish I could attend. We don’t have something like this in USA, the sewing shows are all about quilting. I also have the Reeta, it’s not my usual style but I love yours and love how you described it as smart, sexy, casual. Lol.

I have a Zadie jumpsuit cut out and waiting to be made up out of blue and white fabric that is in a print reminiscent of tiles. Its really pretty. Helen from Stitch Hem Sew thought it might look nice with a navy bias binding rather than self bias binding, so I think that is likely what I will do. What do you think?

Hi Ruan. I’m late watching this but was interested to see your makes. Your reviews and insights were great, I, for some reason 😆, bought the Sew Different pattern from the K&S show 2 years ago and it’s virtually the same design as the Zadie. However no one seems to have made it so can’t look at other versions. This year I did visit their stall and get the finished measurements though as had no idea which size to make. Seems I’ve cut it out too big but reckon that’s better than too small. I also have to grade out at the waist and in at the hip. I’ve never had a waist in proportion to my body so clothes are often too tight in that area!
Anyway that’s why I don’t feel I can buy the Zadie pattern now. I haven’t made up the Sew different one yet and it’s just sitting here in a bag.
I was pleased to hear your thoughts on the Reeta as I found it very confusing. I’ve made 3 as love the dress but I’ve retired the pattern now as struggled so much this time with the collar as didn’t seem to fit on very well. I thought it was drafted wrongly.My favourite and most worn is in cotton sateen. It takes me anywhere. It also sewed the best. I’ve had it over three years so don’t really need another😂
I liked the blouse pattern by byhandlondon. I have this in my stash and you reminded me. I should try this pattern instead of buying more! As always I really enjoyed watching your vlog. Many thanks 😊

I love your top, it is just beautiful. That pattern you got the 'Sarah Shirt' I decided to get one because I thought it was just lovely.
However when it arrived I noticed that it is quite big. I know it is meant to be blousy and flowy, but even the size 6 finished garment measurements are 43" bust 49" waist as for the hips it just says full. What do you think? Could you let me know what size you might go for? I'm a 34" bust 30" waist and thinking should I just go for the size 6.
Hi Elaine 👋🏼 I’ve just dug it out to have a look and wowsers it’s over sized isn’t it! I’m coming out as a 16/18 but would definitely size down! I don’t think you need to worry about the hips at all! Let me know how you get on 👍🏼

My zadie has not been worn and isn’t hemmed. Trousers are clown size an i sized down two sizes. Top is great. Long sleeves great. Binding great😢

You crack me up. 🤣 “The pockets aren’t saggy once your boobies are in the dress.” 🤣 If your draw string is polyester you can just use a lighter to melt the end so it won’t fray. But if it is cotton that’s a bummer.
