No they're not. Cmon dude. They've only had like 28 mainline games. That's 28 different names. There are literally hundreds of thousands of words I'm the dictionary or even more.

That rivals my business deal I made as a 5 y/o on kindergarten: ”your Pokemon Red for this awesome spider toy [plastic spider the size of the palm..], you can play with it like this and this, it’s amazing” -> I still have that Red lmao! It started it all.👏🏻

I feel your pain. I did the exact same thing! I sold all of my old Pokémon games as a kid. Pokémon is my favorite franchise ever so I regret selling all of that great stuff. I have been able to recover some of the old games over time but not all of them. I would be interested in seeing what old cards you have, Fanta.

I somewhat had this mentality too when growing up. I grew up with a Gameboy and an N64. I kept playing handhelds but eventually moved to PlayStation and Xbox, and never went back to the Nintendo home console because they didn't have "real" games.

The original/first generation of Pokemon gameboy games (Red, Blue, Yellow) have not aged as well as other games in the franchise. Even the Generation II games (Gold, Crystal, and Silver) are really hard to back to after playing the fourth generation and onwards. The third generation of games are kinda in a sweet spot. They aged much better than the previous two generations of games, but not as finely as the DS games.
I would not be too bummed about it. It is the DS games that are so insanely priced.

I did the same thing. Sold all 6 games and ruby sapphire leaf green and fire red to gamestop to buy gears of war, and I still had to pay 20 dollars on top of all of it. I never owned emerald though, the only game I never owned so far.
I wish I never traded them all in. Nowadays I'm currently searching ebay for clean copies at a not so highway robbery price to play them again.

  • @artycuz6877

I had all the Pokemon games from blue and red to Heart gold and soul silver. I got rid of them because I was "growing up and didn't play video games anymore". Came back to gaming in my 20's and got most of my collection back, but I wish I had my originals. I had some really cool stuff like a very expensive Walmart edition Pokemon Emerald.

  • @jacksonlee1883

Very similar experience with me selling my copies of Diamond and Heartgoald. I felt like I completed them and felt like they didn’t have anything left to offer. It was around the time Black and White released I teamed them in. Partly because I grew up with the tv, cards and games. I Felt tapped out. It was late into Highschool and college I got back into the games with Apha Sapphire, Platinum, and White. The Gen 5 games that I turned my nose up as a kid blew my mind. Even though I had no interest in wiping my original saves I should have kept them for sentimental reasons.

I went throo that same phase too bro, don't worry.
    You're not alone. Lol
I never played the games & stopped watching Pokémon at like 7yo, cuz I thought it was "for babies". 😂
I am soooo, so glad that my friend, a few years later, showed me a little, awesome gem of a game called:
    Pokémon Ruby.
He let me play a bit, and I was INSTANTLY hooked! Lol
Not much later, I begged my mom to buy me Sapphire from our local KB Toys.
Thus, was the beginning of my Pokémon video game adventure.
And here I am in Gen 9, styll playin Pokémon religiously!👍🏾

I think we all sold our Pokémon games as kids. We were always looking for the NEW game to play, and saving up for a brand new game was definitely not cheap! Still isn’t 😹 I remember one time I went into a GameStop with ALL my Super Nintendo games and there was a guy in line behind me that bought my SUPER MARIO RPG off of me! He was like “DUDE!! I’ll give you $5 more than the GameStop will!!” And of course me being a dumb kid I was like HECK YEAH MAN!!! Or whatever dumb kids said back then 😹 Also, another adult in line FOLLOWED me to my car and bought the remaining games I had that GameStop wouldn’t buy due to stickers or markings or whatever.

I have the special Pokemon Gameboy Color that's yellow and blue with Pikachu, Togepi, and Jigglypuff on the sides of the screen. It was bundled with Yellow Version and it was the first gaming console I owned and first Pokemon game I actually owned. I remember watching other kids playing Blue version at the summer day care program I was in.
I also have The Pokemon Trading Card Game for the Gameboy Color.
I still have The Pokemon Trading Card Game, Pokemon Silver, and Yugioh Forbidden Memories game cartridges however my Gameboy Colors' battery area is corroded so it no longer works.
I used to collect Pokemon cards as a kid and even as an adult I collected them up to Gen 7. I still have all those cards in binders. I always knew how to play the card game but it was more fun collecting them for me. I liked playing Yugioh more as a card game. Nowadays though I really like the Digimon Card Game for both collecting and playing. The artwork on the cards is awesome and the gameplay is pretty fun. I don't care what anyone says though. I'll love Pokemon generations 1-7 even when I'm 1,000 years old. Pikachu and Kyurem are my favorite Pokemon.

  • @Ty-douken
    @Ty-douken 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

You not knowing that the trading card game was an actual pokemon game similar to Magic the gathering reminds me of how I didn't know what RPG stood for when Mario RPG came out. I thought it stood for Real People Graphics because the game used 3D renders exported as sprites. Clearly I was an uneducated kid, glad that's over & I'm just an uneducated adult now!
Also I remember Crazy Bones! Might still have mine, but I know I've got my POGs. Just don't let children out them in a PS5 like my friends kids did.

Some of the cards were 1st edition holos. Just looked up the value today, and I can't stop thinking about how much I loss after trading them away.
    1st edition Jolteon
    1st edition zapdos
    1st edition garados
    1st edition alakazam
    1st edition polywrath
The cards are worth thousands now.

This reminds me of when I had the chance to get a new game as a kid, and Mario Galaxy 2 had just come out not long before this, and instead I chose to get Call of Duty MW3 for the Wii lmao. I could have played Galaxy 2 much sooner than I did. My brother got the game a little bit later so I got to play it though. But it's the same thing where I felt like I wanted to play "adult games" to be cool

Now as somewhat of a retro game collector I absolutely regret throwing away every game box/case I had, even as recent as nearly my entire 3DS collection. TBF considering that every mainline game is some of the best-selling games on the system they appear on and how much Gen I-VI goes for on the second hand market, almost everyone regrets selling their games. I don't care for Pokémon but I'm collecting them on the Switch to hang on to them for 10-20 years to flip.

Never played a single Pokémon game, just wasn’t interested for some reason. However, a few months back I was on a walk and saw a cardboard box on someone’s lawn with a “FREE GAMES” sign on it. Had a bunch of old video games so I grabbed most of them. One of them was Pokémon Coliseum for GameCube. I knew some Pokémon games were worth money but to my surprise when I looked this one up, it one was worth a few hundred bucks. Has the manual and the disc is in good shape too. I guess I’ll keep it for a few years and wait until the value shoots up even more.

I never had all of them, but the I only reason I'm sad I don't have them now is solely because of nostalgic sake. I hate having to solder new batteries in and having to back save files in case soldering goes wrong. Soldering can corrupt save data. I can't remember if this is only true for a specific generation, but I have read online thay it definitely corrupted save data.
Anyways, these old cartidges are so obsolete now. If you want a pokemon just hack it. Nintendo don't care. Pokemon company don't care. The cheats are so good nowadays that even the pokemon company can't tell of its hacked or not. If you go online to either battle, trade or raid in game you will almost always see a hacked shiny legendary pokemon no matter what.. And the way nintendo and pokemon handle their business is so anti consumer it's freaking baffling people still support them.
If you purchased the digital versions of gen 1 and 2 on the 3ds system and have pokemon bank and transfer then you're set. It's a good thing gen 3 can be played without having to solder a new battery in because they don't use a battery to hold save files. It's only used to manage real time events in game like growing berries and stuff.
If you wanted to get specific pokemon from gen 3 you can always play pokemon oras even though it's not a faithful remake. It has all the pokemon in gen 3.

Those games don't hold sentimental value as much for me compared to the Pokémon TCG. Every time I get to second place in a tournament, my mom has to go to work so I can never stay to try for 1st. Looking back, I really appreciate her risking being late for her minimum wage job just so her son can have a chance to compete. Yelled at me every time I whined about not being able to stay, but can't say she didn't make sacrifices.
