The vast majority of bengali speaking muslims were considered just Muslim who happen to speak Bengali.This was mostly due to Pakistan movement and the Muslim league polititians of Bengal prioritised their Muslim identity rather than 'bolti zubaan'. There were serious consideration of imposing urdu on east Pakistan which had much support among general muslim population of east Pakistan.
