Thanks for a timely review, Tiago! I am picking a first Lego set for my friends who are HP-loving couple and was deciding between the two sets. The castle was winning simply because it's a lot more iconic imo, but your video really helped to cement the choice and feel good about it :) I really appreciate that you don't sugarcoat the sets, and give your honest opinion, same happened with Barad-Dur set which I decided not to buy after seeing your recommendation (I'd just bought Rivendell at that time and was financially recovering, lol). Thanks for the reviews and keep doing the great job!
Ooh! Another Tiago review! I started watching your channel right about the time you started doing reviews. And it's become a favorite must-watch as soon as a video shows up in my feed. Love your reviews
As kids in the 70s, we stacked 2 one-erds atop each other to be people. The minifiges are great. It's the full size figurines that messed up the scaling.
I too love the micro castle, but am not a fan of this. Just too busy. I have the large diagon alley, and am disappointed they didn’t add to it. I am hoping they continue adding buildings to the new mid size range they started last year. Thanks for another fab review.
I have the castle which is a grat set, don't think I'll be getting this though for exactly the reasons you describe. Hoping for some LotR micro scale sets in the future, many iconic locations there!
@@ano_nymYes! That would be the #1! I suspect micro scale is the ONLY scale that Minas Tirith could be affordable and of a size you can actually fit somewhere.
@imaduck5564 my point is it’s not super detailed. Also, there can be references without it being super detailed. As Tiago says, the amount of stuff in each building clutters it.
@@rogerhalt3991 Yeah, the interiors are cluttered, but i don’t really care for them; because of how thin this set is, it lends itself to being on a shelf - where you can’t see the interiors. The exterior isn’t cluttered for Diagonal alley standards, so whatever. Will you be buying?
I really do hope they create the other shops in the same way as the main diagon alley set once the current one retires It would be great to have them all
I love it. Looks awesome! I also love they you can display it in different ways. Just because someone would not display it one way does not mean another person wouldn’t.
I love this set and will definitely buy it as well as a light kit for it, but I'm concerned too about how to display it. It would be cool to display it like the alley which it is, but then all you'll see are the backs of the shops which are open here and less pleasing to the eye.
I love your reviews but in this particular case I don't agree with your verdict. 😄 I loved the build and all the different details and colors. I have the big Diagon Alley set and it's my favourite of all my sets, so I might just be biased... 😂 Also, I love color and this set gives so much of it. Thank you for an honest and well thought out review, even if I don't agree. 😄🙏
I'm continually impressed with Lego's ability to make the Harry Potter franchise cool. I'm someone who liked it in the past and now rather dislikes it due to both overexposure and the *ahem* unpleasantness surrounding some of the people involved with it, to the point that I stay away from just about anything HP, but Lego keeps making products that make me want to get back into the fandom. Genuinely impressive.
Totally feel the same way. I was obsessed with Harry Potter as a kid/teen. I've gone right off it due to the creator being a bigot. But the Lego sets they've been coming out with have been amazing. I'd love for these designers to do other lines as well
@@joevictor53 what is life like caring so much about the author/creator/etc.'s political opinions? Personally I would probably not be able to enjoy anything if I was like that.
@@ano_nymI don't think it's that crazy to feel put off from somebody's body of work because of their personal life. When people are so outspoken it can be difficult to separate art from author. I used to enjoy kanye a lot but it's hard to listen to him and not feel disappointed and or put off to the point where it's just not worth it to me anymore
Microscale is sadly not for me. BUt I love some of these pieces like new windowspanes. Weird they are not molded... IMO its also time for Lego to finally UPGRADE those statues with hair/hats. They just look awkward.
Personal, I prefer microscale figures above the minifigure in the castle. But building the castle myself, I see the other points. Except the colorscheme, because this is what DA is. A messey marketstreet.
Although this is more display friendly in terms of its size, I think I prefer the original set. It looks like it would be far more fun to build and play with. The only downside to the original set is how much you need to spend. It would've been good if they broke the set up so you could buy each building when you had the funds, then add to it as you could afford.
The mini Hogwarts Castle is the perfect size to fit on a bookshelf, on that same bookshelf I have the mini Disney Castle. The microscale shops are so long I have no idea where I’d be able to display them.
The only thing im rrally impressed about by this set is probably the price. It has some merit, if you want a minimalist display, but other than that, it feels way too busy for a micro scale set. Diagon alley is a comically overbusy place, and it doesnt translate super well to micro. Of course, take this all with a grain of salt, cause im also not a HP super fan or anything like that lol
Thank you Tiago ! How could you resist giving us an inside shot with your special micro-thin-long camera, walk through the alley. If more explanation needed, close the model in the alley "like in the movie" look, and "walk" in the alley using your special liitle camera. Thanks again for another great review.
That set represents everything I hate about the current era of Lego. I’m sure they would love it if every set going forward was made out of 1x1s. Nothing about that makes me happy sadly, as someone with many ucs scale sets in the house. Including ucs hogwarts castle.
Ugly i have to Say it. They tried to fill the rooms but at that scale it's pretty unacessible for standard hands. Pittoresque and crowded but that's all

In fairness, Diagon Alley looking like a colorful garbage heap of visual noise is pretty faithful to canon...
I was confused by his issue that it looked messy and non-cohesive - like yeah, that's kinda what diagon alley looks like

Have loved and will always love good ol' Harry Potter
Ooh! Another Tiago review! I started watching your channel right about the time you started doing reviews. And it's become a favorite must-watch as soon as a video shows up in my feed. Love your reviews
I don't get the feels for Potter the way a lot of younger people do, but I will definitely get THIS, because I LOVE this scale!
As kids in the 70s, we stacked 2 one-erds atop each other to be people. The minifiges are great. It's the full size figurines that messed up the scaling.
Looks EPIC iv always wanted a diagon alley and gringotts bank this is just the right size for my longe great review 👍
Thanks! 👍

I have both sets and yes the castle is better but if you put diagon alley together it looks amazing .😊
Now im getting into that adult age, these small but super detailed display are what I LOVE seeing from Lego
Super detailed? Squint your eyes and guess what some of the interior details are
@@rogerhalt3991 If it wasnt super detailed, there would be no references and no interior.

They could do a Knockturn Alley one. Then you would also get a more uniform color scheme as Tiago wants.
Similar to the Hogwarts set, I think this is a nice alternative to collecting all the larger Diagon Alley sets in a smaller form
I love it. Looks awesome! I also love they you can display it in different ways. Just because someone would not display it one way does not mean another person wouldn’t.
I don't get it. Was there 2x the figures included? 1:21
Since they're so small, extras were included. The same way the small 1x1 plates and stuff always come as extras!
@@TiagoCatarino Oh, wouldn't have imagined that.
I love Hogwarts and grounds set. I did ended up removing the ship and flying wagon just because I like that architectural look
Please review the Lego bdp siege encampment...

Really hope the fact the leaky cauldron is included means Lego will finally do a leaky cauldron set
Great review, Tiago!

Are there any unique prints? I wonder how much it would cost to use Bricklink for parts?

Not a fan of Harry Potter at all. But do think these micro scale sets with micro mini figures are really neat.
I miss architecture city set soo much
I can't help but feel this would be an incredibly good set to buy just as a general parts pack without even needing to put it together
Love the detail, the open back is a bit annoying
Im not sure about this set. Seems too* impractical to display. Thx for the review (Edit; * removed that typo)
Agreed. Hogwarts Castle is SOO much better!
The mini Hogwarts Castle is the perfect size to fit on a bookshelf, on that same bookshelf I have the mini Disney Castle. The microscale shops are so long I have no idea where I’d be able to display them.
I'd rather have enclosed the backs of buildings vs. the interior detail for display
I like the set but I could do without the interiors. Close the backs and make it feel complete.
It's going to look better yellowed by the sun and with some dirt on it. 😂
I loved the Hogwarts one, but this one is just not it... imo
I hate these micro sets. I wish they had continued the Diagon Alley D2C set. There are so many shops they could include there.
