Actually i went through fue transplant on 10th april. My doctor didnt gave me enough guidance post surgrey. I was worried about scabs and crests as i saw small hairs in scabs after 8th day. So i watched your video and it gave a confidence to touch my recipiemt area after 8th day.
Best of luck with your transplant,@@cruise2257! In case your doctor didn't mention it to you, treatment is still needed after a hair transplant, as hair transplants alone don't treat progressive pattern hair loss. You can refer to this video about it - th-cam.com/video/rIlI55F478w/w-d-xo.html
Hi@gitiskd180, Hair shedding due to severe stress called telogen effluvium can cause temporary hair shedding, including shedding of transplanted hair. However, shed hair does grow back, so it's not lost. Hair is lost due thinning, then eventual miniaturization. I hope this clarifes things for you.
So grafts are hard to fall out but how easy are they to damage after fue? At what point is the follicle safe, some doctors say 2 weeks some say 5 days, why is there no definitive answer? I know everyone is different but 5-14 days is a big difference, my doctor had me shower on day 6 and massage the recipient area which according to some doctors will have damaged a large amount of my grafts
Doctor, really appreciate ur efforts to reply to our questions. I had my transplant almost 12-14 days back and I m having severe itching of the scalp. I have been scratching my scalp in between due to severe itching, however there hasnt been any bleeding or injury. Will it affect the graft survival or healing
Hi kevin jose, It shouldn't affect your grafts this far out since your transplant, but I do encourage you to give your scalp a good scrub with shampoo. Our patients are often hesitant to scrub their scalp soon after a transplant, so we do it for them in our offices to demonstrate the strength of the grafts. You can contact your surgeon's office about the possibility if you are hesitant, and can watch this video about it for more details: th-cam.com/video/K-t6Eu1McJU/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Doctor. I have. question about the famous graft survival rate. What is that about? How can we say a graft survived? And how long does it take for this to happen? I mean like if the graft survival rate something that is "decided" over the first few days? Or does a graft day a month or two after the transplant? I read a comment saying that after the shedding it will be clear if the graft survived or not. But is that really the case?
Hi @PrepaidKreditkarte81, FUE transplants have a higher percentage of damaged grafts due to the graft harvesting process, which can be as high as 30%. Damaged grafts won't grow if the root has been damaged. High blood pressure during transplant surgery can also push grafts out, known as "popping", which I reduce with local anesthesia, and LITE IV sedation so patients are more relaxed, and less anxious. Transplant technique also affects graft survival, such as placing grafts at too high a density that limited blood supply, and skin integrity can't support the healing of grafts so they don't survive. Hair shedding is not an indicator of graft survival, as shed hair can still be regrown as long as the grafted follicle is in place, and healthy. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I have done a FUE recently and according to the doctors I have spoken to and research I´ve come across the grafts are secure after about 48-72 hours. However, it´s always a good idea to be careful. But after 10 days it should be fine to wash the hair as normal.
Hi Mr Jee, Yes, it is safe to wash your hair 10 days after your transplant. You may want to try baby shampoo at first if you are apprehensive, or visit your transplant surgeon. My staff have often washed the hair of our transplant patients who were apprehensive at first about aggressively scrubbing their scalp shortly after the transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you for your reply! I have a follow up question. They washed my head/hair already on the second day and I have washed my head everyday since (Im on day 12 now) Is the danger to lose the grafts or that the schampoo/lotion will destroy them? I no longer have any scabs/crusts and everything looks good except some redness. Should I worry about future results?
I recently got a transplant in May. After 14 days I conditioned the scabs off and my hair looked like a full head of hair. The result was everything i hoped for. At day 30, 90% shed. If most hairs survived 14 days is that a good indication that they will all regrow or is their still a chance that a significant amount of graphs wont survive?
Hi John Isme, It's still early to tell how your transplant turned out as you need to wait for grafts to grow out long, and native hair to grow back after shock loss. You can refer to these videos about what to expect after a hair transplant, and why further treatment is need to for progressive hair loss: th-cam.com/video/dm_XuWidqxE/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/sC_iWjbThxw/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/xfuF2Lqx7mk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/A3huSHGYrFU/w-d-xo.html
Hi @sadiqidris1379, Finasteride for slowing hair thinning due to male pattern hair loss should have been used before, during, and after your hair transplant. Since finasteride is a prescription medication, you do need to see your doctor for a prescription. Your transplant surgeon can prescribe it to you. I hope this clarifies things for you.
None of my grafts fell out. However, my transplanted hair is falling off after 4 weeks from the transplant. I have been using Minoxidil since 10 days after surgery. I hope that this is normal.
Hi BananaBatsy, It’s normal to have hair shedding after a transplant, which could be normal shedding, shock loss from the trauma of the hair transplant, or it could be graft hairs transplanted to close to existing hair causing damage to native follicles called collateral loss. If you are worried, you can follow up with your transplant surgeon who can examine your scalp, and knows details of your transplant surgery. I hope this helps you
Hi dr Prasad. I love watching your hair transplant videos, today is 5 months and 7 days post transplant, I have two questions, the first is, after 35 days I got chicken pox, could it have harmed anything? and the second question is, a few days after the transplant I strained my face a lot and laughed, could it be that my hair fell out like that? I didn't see any blood or anything like that, at the moment I have quite a lot of hair on one side and it's very rare on the other side, thank you in advance,
Hi n0th1ng 9, While chicken pox should not affect your hair grafts, you can see your surgeon to examine your scalp to make sure. Straining your face by laughing will not affect your grafts. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Fares E, I suggest you have your surgeon examine your scalp for proper healing of scabs, and openings for the follicles, because you do risk infection if you swim with your scalp not adequately healed. I hope this helps you.
Hi @rajpreetsingh5873, While wearing a hat should be OK this long after your hair transplant, you should ask your surgeon who knows where you are in your healing, and knows the details of how your transplant was performed. I hope this clarifies things for you.
How does the regenerative treatment for native thinning hair compare to Finasteride? are the results of regenerative treatment permanent compared to Finasteride? Is this only for improving thickness of baby/thinning hairs or also for new follicle generation?
Hi The world in the VLog, Finasteride is primarily for slowing hair thinning by blocking DHT-formation, with a limited effect on thickening thinning hair. If you want to thicken thinning hair, finasteride can’t do it alone. It is not possible to regenerate dead hair follicles, or generate new ones as hair follicles are basically tiny organs. You can refer to these videos on the importance of finasteride in treating male pattern hair loss; and how we thicken thinning hair, and increase scalp coverage in men who were already on finasteride for years: th-cam.com/video/fLSB-tE0gco/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/4YowPNRsv6I/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for your video, very reassuring 👍 could I ask a question? I’ve had a fur transplant, but need to get back to work as a window cleaner, how long do I need to wait before I can wear a hat? Thanks again
Hi bobbymac 131, Hair transplant patients actually often walk out right after surgery wearing a hat. However, if you are wearing a hat for work, you will want to give it a few days for healing before you do that. You can ask your surgeon about the appropriate time for you to wear a hat while working, as your surgeon can monitor where you are in healing progress, and knows the details of your surgery. I hope this helps you.
Dear doctor tank you very much for your videos. I am from India, had done 3500 grafts 9 months earlier. From three weeks suddenly are crusts on my head and hair are falling off with crusts. Can these be follicle or wounds not healed yet, please give some suggestions.
Hi H Soni, I'm a little confused by your question - did the crusts form 9 months after, or 3 weeks after? It is normal to have scabs 3 weeks after transplant, but not 9 months. I can't tell exactly what it is after 9 months without physically examining it. I suggest you return to your transplant surgeon to have it checked. I hope you can have it checked by your surgeon soon.
Hi Dr, its been three weeks since my first HT and its like 30% of my hair getting shed, my question is how do i know that it is normal shed or my graft are fail due to not survive?
Hi @Mrmeteora1998, You can start by following up with your transplant surgeon to examine your scalp for any issues with your grafts. You can reference terms in these videos like collateral loss to your transplant surgeon: th-cam.com/video/885_UrKpfMo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/8VBL_tMg2qA/w-d-xo.html
Hello sir... It haad been two and half months of hair transplant and already start little fungal or dandruff in both donnaar and recipient area. Plz suggest some treatment .
Hi Susheel Sharma, Sorry to hear about your problem. Treating scalp fungal infections, and dandruff are beyond my practice focus, so I suggest you see a local dermatologist to examine your condition, and they can recommend treatment. I hope this helps you.
Hi ZeoWorks, It is unlikely you damaged any grafts, but I would still advise you don't make unnecessary contact with your scalp during the healing period. If you suspect any issues, your transplant surgeon can examine your scalp. I hope this helps you.
Hi Buzz Dxb, I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older TrichoStem™Hair Regeneration patients don’t use maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride is a must for our younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss due to high DHT-sensitivity as TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is not a DHT-blocker. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely. Some TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients with advanced hair loss get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first which we call the booster, but this is already included in the cost of the treatment plan, so you don’t pay extra for it. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil completely, or be weaned off it to prevent a sudden hair shed. You can refer to these videos about the differences between TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration from PRP alone: th-cam.com/video/vZAGaAssewY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/xSMTd9qVwNo/w-d-xo.html
Dear sir..i recently gor a transplant done from DHI..it looks remarkably amazing..my question and worry is..does shredding happens forsure or the transplanted hair can grow as well..?
Hi Vishal Sudan, Transplanted hair, if taken from the true permanent zone, is genetically resistant to hair thinning. All hair sheds, but it does grow back - hair loss happens when it grows back progressively thinner until it stops growing. It is also important to note that hair transplants do not stop thinning of native hair on your scalp. You will need a treatment like Hair Regeneration to thicken native thinning hair, or finasteride to slow hair thinning. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. Thank you sir..for your kind reply..but i believe you have slightly taken the question in different way..my question was " shredding is the process in th hair transplant, wherein the transplanted hair shreds and new hair grows out, so is it definite that the transplanted hair will forsure shred, cnt the same (planted hair) start growing once planted, rather thn first shredding and then sprouting out"..thanks!
Hi @peterlloyd8358, It's normal for everyone to shed 50-100 hairs a day. Finasteride can also increase normal shedding temporarily for up to 6 months when it's first used. PRP or any scalp injection may result in hair shedding due to the trauma of the injection on the scalp. Minoxidil delays hair shedding so you appear to have more hair, but this can result in severe and sudden shedding if you stop using it. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi doctor can you please reply to my question honestly and ur answer definitely will change my life ,I had a period of severe depression , i hated my hair ligne i went to turkey for hair transplant, i did , the problem is after one year the natural hair around the hair transplant cose the transplant was mixed with the baby hair and natural hair , after each shower iam losing natural hair and now i have in the front only hair transplant it doesn’t look good cose the is space between each graft, i did prp no result such as befor the hair full iam having pain in the place , pleaaaase dear reply to me i will never aver get back my natural hair , is the graft transplant kill the natural hair ???? Please reply
Hi Buzz Dxb, Sorry to hear about your problem. How old were you when you had your transplant? Hair transplants do not treat progressive hair loss at all, they just move hair from the back of the head to the front, or to the mid scalp or crown. You still need a treatment like finasteride to slow further hair thinning, which you have not indicated you are taking. You can refer to these more videos on why treatment is still needed after a hair transplant, and how it is possible to lose natural hair during a hair transplant: th-cam.com/video/rIlI55F478w/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/9IUjsrbVh9s/w-d-xo.html
Hi@@soumiamohamed9037, Your description of losing hair behind your grafts sounded like you were too young to have a hair transplant. Ethical hair transplant surgeons do not perform transplants in men under 30 because they are losing hair faster than a transplant surgery can keep up with. You can refer to this video about why transplants are not advised for men in their 20s because of the problem you are having now - th-cam.com/video/2GkCy-30hFg/w-d-xo.html
Hi@@soumiamohamed9037, Sorry for the mix up, but this was not indicated. I did make a video about why hair transplants are not advised for most cases of female pattern hair loss, for your reference - th-cam.com/video/-qqYdDT9jnI/w-d-xo.html
Hello doctor,, i would like to know what other treatment n surgery is necessary after a hair transplant,, and after how many days i can continue exercising n playing sport like physical sport??
Hi Kh Shivakumar, Pattern hair loss is progressive, and progression is not treated by hair transplants at all. You will still need to be on a DHT-blocker like finasteride to slow continued hair thinning. I often apply the Hair Regeneration treatment 1-2 months after hair transplant surgery to help heal hair grafts, increase graft survival, thicken thinning native hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles. Hair loss is not cured, but it is continually managed. You may need additional hair transplants for more density, especially if you had your hair transplant done before age 30, and are losing hair faster than it can be transplanted. You can refer to this video about further treatment after a hair transplant: th-cam.com/video/AciyxYIC2uQ/w-d-xo.html And this one about resuming exercise after a transplant: th-cam.com/video/5SNt8OQopjs/w-d-xo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you doctor for your reply,, i would like to know whether taking finastiride is really necessary,, because my doctor recommended other drug like F Sprirulux,, F Tricho ferrum, F Trichorise n a growth serum.. N yes i m in my 20s,, so will i need prp treatment,, laser treatment in future.. Thank you
Hi@@khshivakumar7610, If you have male pattern hair loss in your 20s, then you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and will need a DHT-blocker like finasteride. Finasteride and other DHT-blockers like dutasteride are prescription medications. Growth serums are not DHT-blockers. I hope this clarifies things for you.
My first day showering I used way too much water pressure. Since then i was super careful I remember there was some blood on my towel for my first two showers when dabbing it dry. Is it normal to get blood for graft area? Its 10 days post op now and everythign looks fine, scabs are gone too. Im concerned that the transplanted grafts currently on my head might have been damaged
Hi Isaac Reeve, While seeing some blood on your towel shouldn't be alarming, as it could be from the scabs after your transplant, you can follow up with your surgeon for an examination of possible graft damage. I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD thank you for your quick reply. I checked in today and it looks like my hair is growing well. Perhaps some grafts were damaged or fell off but looks like all of them took root successfully :)
Hi ozmo69, Grafts are still healing after they are firmly in place in the scalp, so you should follow your surgeon's advice. I made this video for people who are concerned that hair shedding means they lost a graft, which is not the case. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi najat mrini, Sorry to hear about your problem. A proper diagnosis is needed for your cause of hair loss first before treatment can be recommended. If you are a woman as there are more causes of hair loss than for men, and female pattern hair loss is harder to diagnose, so scalp biopsies are needed to confirm the diagnosis. I hope this helps you.
Dear Sir, had a hair transplant on crown area from beard, it's past 3 days only so far. Question is :- Does crown area gives less results in comparison to frontal area? ; Also I heard blood supply is poorer in crown so can I use some handstand exercise while making sure to avoid any physical trauma to grafts?
Hi jahankavaasi, No, the whole scalp is very vascular, including the crown and hairline. Blood supply to the scalp only becomes a problem if you have more grafts than available blood supply, which is a big drawback of megasessions. Unless you had a megasession, blood supply to crown should not be an issue. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank You Very Much Sir, for taking your time to answer this question, Very much appreciate you for sparing time for us to answer our questions ... thanks much again
Hi Naja Saber, A megasession is when an unsafe number of hair grafts are done once, putting graft survival at risk as blood supply in the scalp is not enough to support that many hair grafts, usually 5000 grafts or more in a single transplant surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Dr Prasad - i have recently had a hair transplant in the front corner area of my head (receding hair line) and its day 8. There has been very heavy scabbing so I used a q tip today to gently dab the scabbing off. Im worried I shouldn't have done this as the grafts could have fallen out. What do you think?
Hi Achillea Kyriakou, Hair grafts are so firmly in place 48-72 hours after a transplant that it would take a surgical instrument to remove them, so a gentle dab of a Q-tip will not dislodge a graft 8 days after transplant surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Dr. Prasad. Please help. I had a HT A few months back. Already did the shedding phase. But now I notice prickly stubble that doesn’t shed or grow. Also, it I pull in them with a tweezer, they come out with zero resistance. Is this a failed graft? Because there are quite a few. I’m beyond worried about this.
Hi jstoke9, First, I suggest you don't use tweezers on your scalp. Second, I suggest you follow up with your transplant surgeon as they can examine your scalp, and know details of your transplant surgery. I hope this helps you.
Hi mark tho, You can consult with your transplant surgeon as I'm not familiar with the details of your surgery. However, grafts that fall out within the first week after surgery more than likely didn't take to the scalp, and would not have grown hair anyway. Ensuring that grafts do take is the type of detail only your surgeon knows about. I hope this helps you.
Is the seborrheic dermatitis. .white scabe would afeect the hair transplant result? ?when i am try to remove those scabe...gentaly..transplant graft are shaidding...is that graft shaids or the graft are comming out ??plz do rpy..
Hi Santsh Dandge, It isn't likely you are losing grafts, and more likely it's the hair shedding. If hair sheds, the grafted hair follicle remains in place, as they are strongly in the scalp 48-72 hours after a transplant. As long as the hair follicle is in place, hair will still grow. I hope this clarifies things for you.
hi dr prasad! i doo my hair transplant about 2 monts ago.so my skin is very dry..its some yellow skin.like a dead skin and like dandruff..its very ichy and when i massagde that area this is big bite of skin falling down and some hair follow with it..like hair in mithle and this dead dry skin around.i dont pull this off with nails ,only with finger tops.like massage..and 4 ,5 hair straw following..i am vory..this is yellow skin, like dundruff but my mother thell thats skin same like litle babys have .this hair how follow out i hope this is not grafts?can i send you picturse too see this?tank you
Hi jusic elvedin, Those aren't likely to be grafted follicles, but dead skin or keratin attached to hair shafts. If you have concerns about your transplant, you can follow up with your transplant surgeon who knows the details of your scalp and transplant surgery. I hope this helps you.
Hi Doctor Prasad, is it a good idea to return to regular showers & sleeping normal after 3 weeks of a hair transplant? Also can I return to playing soccer & doing cardio in a treadmill? Last, I play soccer on Sundays through the day but the temp here is always around 70-90 degrees hot or higher would I be able to use some type of sunblock so I wont damage the hair transplant?
Hi Edgarlinho Ramirez, You should ask your doctor why they recommended that. I think as long as you stay away from any activities that can damage your scalp skin, for example excess sun exposure that leads to sunburn and flaking, I don't think the sun needs to be avoided. Ask your doctor about the specifics of what they are recommending. I hope this helps you.
Hi Doctor Prasad, Informative video but my question is a bit post that point. Now I had an FUE from turkey nearly 5 months ago. 60% hair fell off and have started regrowing which is great but 40 % of them are neither falling off nor started growing. They are just firmly stuck on the scalp. I spoke to the clinic and they they say they will start growing as it is an individual thing but in my previous 2 FUT procedures they all fell off and then re grew. Any idea whether they WILL grow or just fall after rotting there for a while. Dr please let me know as I have no more grafts left in my donor area and the worry is making me lose more original hair (only joking). Thanks
Hi Yasser Hasan, As long as the transplanted hair follicles remain in place and alive, they can grow hair, even after shedding. Wait at least a full year to assess the success of your hair transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Supersmooth007, I have to say your results look pretty great! Your surgeon did a good job with the density, and it appears your graft survival rate months after is pretty good. However, you should be aware that having a pluggy look after a hair transplant doesn't happen right away - it happens years after when your transplanted hair remains, and the hair around the transplant continues to thin until it is lost. Hair transplants do not stop hair thinning, so you do need to take finasteride to slow thinning of your native hair, or a treatment like Hair Regeneration to stop and reverse hair thinning by making thinning hair grow thicker. This treatment has sustained thicker hair growth for our patients with thinning hair since 2011. The vast majority of patients don't need to take finasteride after the one-time Hair Regeneration treatment. I hope the added information helps you.
Hi Kam Edy, Transplanted hair taken from the permanent zone shouldn't thin, but native hair on the scalp as well as hair grafts taken from outside the permanent zone are still prone to thinning, which is why a hair transplant alone will not treat progressive hair loss. Other treatments like finasteride and Hair Regeneration are needed after a transplant to treat native hair and increase coverage. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Kam Edy, We don't currently offer the treatment in Texas, but we do have many patients coming to New York or Virginia from around the country and around the world for the Hair Regeneration treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the New York or Virginia. Many patients actually get back on the plane or train, or drive back home the same day as treatment, but to be sure you could do this for a flight, I would assess your general health condition first. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Vikas Yadav, Ideally, hair grafts are taken from the permanent zone which contains hair genetically resistant to hair thinning, so they do not get progressively thinner like native scalp hair. However, with FUE procedures some hair grafts are taken from outside the permanent zone, so they are prone to hair thinning. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi 他殺自殺, It depends on how your transplant is done. FUE transplants have a higher rate of graft damage than FUTs in the extraction process, so up to 30% of grafts can be damaged and not take. If you have a megasession of 5000 or more grafts in one surgery, your scalp does not have the blood supply to support all those new grafts in the healing process, and can lose up 90% grafts. Exceeding 20 grafts per square centimeter in one session can also cause graft loss because there isn't enough blood supply for them to survive. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD thank you doc. ive undergone with fut procedure about 2000grafts. The doctor suggested it on me since i have long hair and said it has higher follicle survivability than the other method, the fue. Gonna meet her tomorrow though for another post op check up 👍👍
Hi@@4cricket24, Hair transplants are practiced by surgeons from many different disciplines and specialties, so it's best done by a doctor with experience in transplant surgery, and who you can see after the procedure for any follow ups needed. Look for a surgeon who can show their results years after the transplant, so you know you are getting a doctor who actively manages your hair loss after surgery is done. I hope this helps you.
Hi sir I have completed 40 days of my transplant I am using minoxidil and finestride solution and finestride and biotin capsule in my headwash after scab removal I had a good density but now some of the hair has grown up as normal as I had very minimum hair fall will it grow back the hair which is already shed off and the hair which are not falling will continue to grow
Hi pradeep bisht, Shed hair does grow back, but pattern hair loss causes shed hair to grow back thinner, and there could be a delay in regrowth because it also limits the number of hair growth cycles. You should talk to your surgeon about oral finasteride as it's more effective than topical solutions, but even oral finasteride alone is limited in stimulating hair growth. You can refer to these videos about why treatment is still needed after a hair transplant, how we can go beyond finasteride alone in stimulating hair growth, and why our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil entirely: th-cam.com/video/rIlI55F478w/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/4YowPNRsv6I/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/T5iPdCfZ2Ng/w-d-xo.html

Good Pm Doc, i had my hair transplant FUT method, i’m in my 11 days my doctor advised me to resume excersise after 1 month. But my job here in japan is quite physical is it okay for my transplanted hair? Thanks in advance
Hi byron John Alvarez, There will be variability in doctors opinions on when you can resume exercise after a hair transplant, but there are certain factors I discuss in this video about when to exercise after a transplant th-cam.com/video/5SNt8OQopjs/w-d-xo.html
Hey sir I’m from LA I’m of 23 I started getting hair shedding it been a year I consulted to a doctor he suggested me for prp I had one injection last month nd now it’s been month what I noticed my hair shedding increased nd got baldness on my sides but can see little thin hairs are my hairs getting thin or new one coming? what does it mean nd hairs got thin .. could you plz tell me what’s going on ?
Hi Swaraj A, PRP is not a treatment for hair shedding, and hair shedding is not pattern hair loss. Pattern hair loss is hair thinning where hair normally sheds, then grows back thinner. Pattern hair loss in men also normally happens at the top of the scalp and crown, as hair at the sides are genetically resistant to hair thinning. I think you need to consider a second opinion from doctor with experience in diagnosing and treating pattern hair loss if your current doctor has not confirmed or ruled out pattern hair loss. I hope this helps you.
Hi Swaraj A, The risk of sexual side effects is only about 2%, so the vast majority of men on a DHT-blocker don't experience them. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Swaraj A, If your doctor can confirm hair thinning and miniaturization of hair, then you should go on a DHT-blocker. Your doctor can write you a prescription.
Hi guys I’m 35 days post Op and just starting the shed, At work today first time hearing back someone ruffled my head with their hands on the back of my head more around the donor and a little bit on the transplanted area, it was quite forceful, there wasn’t any blood or anything I’m just worried they may have upset something ? I understand from your video it is very difficult to remove a graft. Any reassurance would be brilliant! Thank you
Hi Callum Shove, Your grafts are very strong this long after a transplant, so you should have nothing to worry about. Hair transplant patients are often hesitant to scrub out scabs from their transplant, so we do it in here in the office for them, and they are surprised at how aggressively the scalp can be safely scrubbed after a transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Dear Sir , as you said you aggressively scrub the scab , but after how many days of transplant it is recommended to do so ? What is the minimum time needed to hair to fulfill the object of transplant ? May be 24/48 or 72 hours ?
Hi mahesh patil, Hair grafts are strongly in the scalp 48-72 hours after transplant surgery. We normally advise aggressive scrubbing of the scalp after the first week. We often shampoo and scrub patients' hair at the office when they are afraid of an aggressive scrub soon after surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi@@CAS15051981, At 6 weeks, it's more than enough time to scrub the scalp aggressively to dislodge scabs. Don't worry about hair falling out, as it's just the shaft shedding. The transplanted hair follicles are firmly in place 48-72 hours after transplant surgery. Any grafts that may dislodge after that time would not have survived to growth anyway. I hope this helps you.
Hello doctor. Is it possible for transplanted hairs that had naturally shed in the first few weeks after the hair transplant to shed again e.g. 9 months after the procedure? I have noticed this with some really coarse and wiry hairs so maybe the follicle is correcting itself?
Hi Vince Warren, The visible effects of the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration can be seen soon after treatment, depending on where an individual is in their hair growth/shedding/resting phases. Results can be visible as soon as a month after treatment, but full effects are usually seen in about a year as different areas of the scalp have different timing in their hair growth/shedding/resting phases. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD yes it does. I didn't mean to put a question mark at the end lol okay maybe the great results are people who were already in the growing phases.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD I'm on day 12 post op transplant and had a graft fall out of the back of my head that had three hairs in it. I panicked but I guess this is normal because the shaft sheds but the root (bulb) stays correct? I was concerned because I used an inversion table to stretch my back and it puts a lot of pressure on the head and I thought maybe I pushed the grafts out via pressure from being upside down but people workout 10 days post op which increases pressure around the head as well. This is normal correct?
Hi@@vincewarren1271, It is normal to have hair shedding after a transplant, and the hair will grow as long as the grafted follicle is in place. If you lose the actual grafted follicle this long after the transplant, that grafted follicle never took firmly to the scalp during surgery, and wouldn't have survived to grow hair. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello sir i had gone through hair transplant of 4000graft unfortunately i rubbed my transplanted hair on 10 th day of my surgery when i was sleeping i didnt found any symptom of bleeding but lots of grafts where not there in morning is it i damaged my transplant or lost my new grafts??i m worried pls reply.
Hi Vaibhav Shukla, As explained in the video, hair grafts are so strongly in place at this time that you need surgical tool to remove them. Hair shedding after a transplant is normal, but the transplanted hair follicles remain in place, and will grow hair. I hope this clarifies things for you.
dear sir I have done Fue hair Transplant here in India, I have done 4000 grafts on my crown on 23rd and 24th May this year , after 15 days of my Transplant I joined my work place , after working some days I m feeling itching on planted area or sometime my planted area looks oily. I have to walk inside my workshop for my nature of duty. Is there any chance to graft come out after taking complete bed rest of 15 days and taking proper care ? But yah it's true I have to walk in my office for some time like here and there. Please give me some suggestions
HI ATISH Kumar, Hair grafts are so firmly in place 48-72 hours after surgery that a surgical tool is needed to remove them, so you are not likely experiencing loss of grafts at this time. However, 4000 grafts is bordering on a lot in one session, so consult your doctor about adequate blood supply in your scalp to support those grafts. Best of luck with your results.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thanks for you respond and valuable advice , Dear sir my 4000 grafts plantation completed in 2 sessions and 2 days . Sir I have shown my scalp to doctor he said it is looking normal , and some hair loss from planted area due to sheding process, when New Hair will start to grow you feel itching for some period then all will be ok. But he said there is no chance to graft come out for some normal physical activity.....so not to worry. Sir any suggestions regarding those words and please inform about taking care of my planted area or medication so that I can get a good result.
Hi ATISH Kumar, You need to realize that hair transplants don't stop hair thinning. You will need to take finasteride after your transplant to slow thinning of your native hair, or a treatment like Hair Regeneration we feature in our videos to stop hair thinning and make thinning hair grow back thicker. If you do not take a stabilization treatment for hair thinning, your grafts will remain, but the native hair around them will continue to thin. I hope this helps you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thanks a lot sir for your valuable advice , sir is there any doctor or clinic doing treatment of hair loss by your ECM process in India? Yah finasteride I know but it has some side effects like sexual disorder. is there any other medication which act like finasteride or without having any side effects ?
Hello doctor, i am 23 days post fue, today when i was gently massaging my scalp in the shower with shampoo i noticed 2 small crust fall off from the receipent areas (the only 2 crusts remaining) when i looked at my fingures there was blood on it, i started shedding transplanted hairs after 14 days post hair transplant and have almost lost all the transplanted hairs, i can see 2 small red dots on the left and right side of my scalp above the temple area one dot on each side, im assuming thats where the blood came out from, there was a little bit of blood, im now very worried, have i lost my grafts?
Hi Dude Plays, It isn't likely you lost hair grafts this long after transplant surgery. If you did lose grafts this long after surgery, those grafts weren't likely to survive to full growth anyway since they didn't fully take to the scalp. It really is difficult to dislodge grafts this long after surgery. If you have concerns, your transplant surgeon can examine your scalp. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Khalid Khan, Sorry to hear that, but I would have to examine your scalp, and know details about your transplant surgery to clear up your confusion. I suggest you follow up with your transplant surgeon who knows your scalp, and details about your surgery. I hope this helps you.
Hi SalmoTheFirst, The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video is not PRP alone, as it is a combination of PRP and extracellular matrix by ACell as the main ingredient. It was first used to heal hair grafts and the donor area after single injection session, and later yielded thickening of thinning hair that wasn't transplanted. Unlike PRP alone which takes an undetermined amount of treatment sessions, most patients have one treatment of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration to thicken thinning hair, stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles currently not growing, and to improve hair transplant results by increasing graft survival, and thickening native hair, as well as thickening transplanted hair taken from outside the permanent zone. Patients with advanced hair loss get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first, with results of 1-2 treatments lasting 3-5 years. Minoxidil isn't used after this treatment, but a good percentage male patients with high DHT-sensitivity will still need finasteride to continually block DHT-formation. You can see more about it in these videos featuring improving hair transplant coverage, as well as a standalone treatment without surgery: th-cam.com/video/A3huSHGYrFU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/C5BcMHB0zZ4/w-d-xo.html
Doctor, I got hair transplant on 5th April of this year. till now there is no growth in my transplanted hair and they are not shedding. I do not have any inflammation or itchiness on my scalp. Moreover I almost lost my native hair on the transplanted area. now my scalp is clearly visible. Im worrying about the results. please advise me on this.
Hi Ram Chennam, Sorry to hear about your problem. It may take up to year before transplanted hair really achieves growth, so you still have some time. As for your native hair, it is still too soon to determine if this is a case of shock loss from the transplant which will grow back with time, or permanent collateral loss from the trauma of transplanted hair too close to your native hair. I suggest you stay patient, and consult your surgeon to monitor your progress. Also, keep in mind that the transplant does not not stop continued hair loss progression, so look into taking finasteride or the Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video to slow hair thinning, or reverse hair thinning by thickening thinning hair. Doing something about progression can prevent or lessen the extensiveness of future hair transplants. I hope this helps you.
If your hair on your head is thinning till its completely gone, does it mean that the newly transplanted hair will eventually fall out due to dht or whatever is causing it?
Hi Baldoxxx4000, Generally, transplanted hair is not affected by DHT because it is taken from the permanent zone at the back of the head that is genetically resistant to the effects of DHT. Taking hair grafts from permanent zone is more guaranteed with FUT, or strip hair transplant procedure. However, with FUEs which are taken from wider area, some grafts may be taken from outside the permanent zone, which can be prone to thinning. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey Doctor, another question. Its been about 3 months since my FUE Transplant and I am seeing some hairs starting to break through the skin around my temples but not all of them have come through yet. I had my temples and crown done, and I haven't seen any break through my crown yet. How long does it usually take for most or all of the hairs to break through the skin? Thank you doctor.
Hi Nathan Henn, It does depend on where your grafts are in the hair growth cycle, but shafts of grafted hair coming through the crown should have been seen right after surgery. I suggest you follow up with your transplant surgeon as they know details of your surgery, your scalp, and can examine your crown. I hope this helps you.
Hello doctor, I lost my first transplanted hair after my second hairtransplant, (in same area to increase density)will those hair will return back with my new transplanted hair
Hi Rumana Firdose, It depends on whether it was shock loss, which is temporary shedding, and the hair grows back; or collateral loss where the transplanter damaged the follicles permanently, and hair doesn't grow back. You should ask your transplant surgeon as they know the details of your transplants. I hope this help you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. Hey , its has been 8 months since Ive had a hair transplant and I HAVE NOT shedded once. I’m starting to get frustrated, I’m not using anything . I did all my post surgery things and my hair grafts grow. Even when I cut my hair , it grows, back to looking like my hair 14 days after surgery. I don’t know what to do. I know you said it can take 18 months , but is there something I can do???
Hi@@razorsharp4ever, If your grafts are growing, you should not be too concerned. Native hair normally grows for 3-5 years before shedding and regrowing, and only about 8-10% of your hair is in the shedding/regrowth phase at any given time, so it shouldn't be a concern. If you have concerns about your transplant, you should refer to your surgeon who knows details of your scalp and transplant surgery. I hope this helps you.
Hi Doctor Amiya. Could you explain the below? Are these process normal after a hair transplant? Growth cycle@anagen phase Shedding phase@catagen (1 month) Resting phase@telogen effluvium (6 months) Shockloss
Hi yus 35, Those are the stages, more or less, of the hair growth/shedding cycle, not necessarily related to hair transplant. However, it's called telogen, as telogen effluvium is actually stress-related hair shedding. Shock loss doesn't always happen. You can refer to these videos about what to expect after a hair transplant: th-cam.com/video/sC_iWjbThxw/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/xfuF2Lqx7mk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/YXEAxJTpumM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/A3huSHGYrFU/w-d-xo.html
Good day doc, i just want to ask if this is ok. I had ht about a week ago and yesterday when i took a bath and washed my hair, i noticed the moment i dried my hair, some of the hair and follicle-like thing aroud it is starting to fall out. Are those the actual grafts thats been implanted on me or just normal shedding? Pls reply godbless
Hi 他殺自殺, It's long enough after your transplant that t's not likely a hair follicle, but rather dried skin or keratin. if you have concerns about your transplant, you should follow up with your transplant surgeon who knows your scalp and the details of your surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Anu kumar, Your grafts should be firmly in place after 48-72 hours, but it may not be comfortable to wear a cap this soon after hair transplant due to healing, itchiness, and scabs. I would wait until you are further in the healing process for your own comfort. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Alaa khedr khedr, Your transplanted hair will still grow without additional treatment. PRP is commonly applied after a transplant to help with graft healing and survival. Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but delays the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects. The Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video can help hair transplants by helping hair grafts heal better, increase the survival rate of hair grafts through advanced healing, thickening existing native hair, prevent the need for future hair transplants by stopping progressive hair thinning, which all improve overall results of a hair transplant. I do advise Hair Regeneration be applied 1-2 months from the time of the hair transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi to you sir and good morning to you 😊 I am form Pakistan I am living qatar 13year sir I have problem my hair I am doing 2 time hair transplant from Pakistan city karachi my hair 4000 hair graft now 9 years is left my hair transplant is old now my hair is thin now please advise this hair problem
Hi Anjum Nisar, Hair transplants do not treat progressive hair loss and hair thinning, so additional treatment after a transplant is needed such as finasteride to slow continued hair thinning. Older hair transplants can still be improved by thickening thinning hair, and stimulating growth from inactive but still viable hair follicles, as shown in this video - th-cam.com/video/A3huSHGYrFU/w-d-xo.html
Hello sir I had my transplant by fut ,in shedding phase my hair fall with root is it normal ? And my donor area's hair falling down also pls give me solution I'm worried about this
Hi Shoaib Raza, Hair shedding is normal after a transplant, and can increase due to shock loss, but shed hair does grow back. If you are worried about your transplant, you should be following up with your surgeon as they have details about your scalp, and your transplant surgery that I'm unaware of. I hope this helps you.
Dear Sir,,, I transplanted my hair 4 years ago, my hair was good all these years. But now when I get nervous or in depression it itches and falls. I have noteced my fallen transplanted hairs won't regrow back again especially when I itch them, this is happening during these last 3 monthes. Does it regrow back? are the follicles dead by now?
Hi KARZAN TAHIR, Shed hair does grow back, and it is normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day. There could be a delay in regrowth, especially if you an FUE where some grafts are taken out of the permanent zone, and these hairs are just as prone to hair thinning as the hairs that were thinned and lost before you had your transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Anil Sharma, You should check with your doctor as I don't perform beard transplants. In scalp hair transplants, 48-72 hours after a graft is placed, grafts are so firmly in place that it takes a surgical instrument to remove them. I hope this help you.
Hi Sundar S, It will likely still grow, but you should address any concerns with your transplant surgeon who knows details of your scalp, and your surgery which I am unaware of. I hope this helps you.
Dear sir, i had hair Transplantation after 10 days of Transplantation my Transplanted hair is started to fall whether its normal or abnormal , thank u in advance.
Hi Pamala Chanikya, It is normal for transplanted hair to shed after the transplant, but it will grow back as the hair follicle is still in place. Transplanted hair is so strongly in place 48-72 hours after the transplant procedure that it will take a surgical instrument to remove them, so you are not losing grafts after 10 days. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello Sir,, I've done hair transplant two years ago,, and now whenever i wash my head i get 3 to 4 or sometimes 5 hairs from transplanted hair,,,,What is this?? And hair has been light little a bit,,,
Hi usman malik, It's normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day, and they do grow back. Pattern hair loss is progressive hair thinning, not hair shedding, where shed hair grows back thinner, and/or there is a delay in hair regrowth. While ideally transplanted hair is taken from the zone that is genetically resistant to hair thinning, some transplants, especially FUEs take hair grafts outside this zone, so these grafted hairs can still thin. Hair transplants also do not treat progressive thinning of native hairs, so additional treatments like finasteride to slow hair thinning, and injectable procedures like TrichoStem Hair Regeneration to thicken thinning hair and stimulate hair growth from dormant hair follicles, are still needed after transplant surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Rikki P, It should be no problem to have jaw surgery as hair transplant surgery does heal quite quickly. You should indicate your previous hair transplant surgery to the new surgeon for your jaw. Best of luck with both your procedures.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. This is very informative. Thanks for your answer. I forgot to ask my Doctor this question and would appreciate your thoughts? - I have just undergone my second 2 day HT procedure 18 months after the first. The first time was more straight forward as it was re structuring the front hairline but this time it's to dense up the middle, front and crown - but hair was implanted into my natural hair that is still growing - can this still be equally as good as the first result and what will happen to the existing hair around the implanted hair? - Or will the existing thinner hair affect the growth of the new implanted hair? Here is a link to my first procedure - as you can see a success , however, the hair was implanted into more or less bald patches whereas this time it's into thinning hair of that island tuff in the front 'Tin tin' - just wondering if the results will be similar to the fantastic result (as seen last time)? Or will it be different because the grafts were implanted into thinning hair as opposed to bald patches as seen - (left and right temples). It could be my last one before I run out of grafts, here video I wish to share: - th-cam.com/video/TLqt86xtbc4/w-d-xo.html
Hi, Thanks for your video, this was useful. But can i ask one thing, I had my first transplant and i didn't use any minoxidil, and grow was very good, no hair fall at all. then i had second session and my doctor asked me to use minoxidil as it good for hair in long term and i start using it twice a week, but after 7 month, I can see hair shedding with white bulb at the end and my density is getting down. can you please suggest what is happening here, should I stop using it or continue, can u make suggestion here please Thank You in Advance
Hi Subroto Bhattacharjee, Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but delays the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects, but these effects can also decrease with time even if you use it daily. You will not be losing transplanted hair after 7 months, but normal shedding, and hair thinning due to pattern loss do continue after the transplant. Not using minoxidil daily may be contributing to sudden shed of your hair. I do think finasteride is more beneficial than minoxidil as it can slow down and stabilize hair thinning. You may want to consider finasteride instead of minoxidil as it does treat hair thinning, which minoxidil does not. You can discuss the details and get a prescription for it from your doctor. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello Doctor... Please Give me Advice My Surgery is complete 2 week's But my doctor say every day wash my transplanted hairs but don't rubb or screach My Doctor says Don't touch your transplanted hairs I wash my head daily with hand shower Sir give me advice for perfect shower mathod
Hi One Man Show, At 2 weeks it's safe to scrub aggressively when you wash your hair, especially for scabs. Don't worry about hair shedding as the hair will grow back, and the grafted hair follicles are very firmly in place. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello Sir, It's been 15 months since my hair transplant and my transplanted hairs are very rough and they curl up so bad compared to the rest of the head. I can't even comb them as they won't just stay even. How can I work with this? Also is Keratin treatment a procedure I should go for? Please Advise
Hi Karthick Raguraman, Sorry to hear about your problem. I recommend you follow up with your transplant surgeon as I don't know the details about your transplant, like where the hair grafts were sourced. I hope this helps you.
Hi @minhazmeher6786, You're unlikely to lose hair grafts after 25 days. If you are worried about your results, I suggest you follow up with your transplant surgeon who can examine your scalp, and knows details of how your hair transplant surgery was performed. I hope this helps you.
Hi doc, i shaved off my beard on the 23rd day post op using electrical clippers. Prior to shaving the beard, my beard had no signs of shedding whatsoever and had grown out pretty well in terms of density and could looked like a full beard. However, after shaving, it started to shed. Now it has been 2 months since, and only thin hair grows and was observed to be patchy, should i be worried?
Hi Hanafi Abd K, You can ask your transplant surgeon about it as I don't perform facial hair transplantation. Your surgeon can also examine your face any issues. I hope this helps you.
Hello Dr. Prasad Your videos are very helpful so first thank you for that. I had my HT done about 5 weeks ago and now i have shed almost 90% of my hair, is this normal? Also everytime I look my fallen hair it appears there is white residue like material at the tail end of hair...could this be an issue? There is no bleeding or anything but how do I know I have not lost my grafts?
Hi Nihin Chavda, Hair shedding is normal after a transplant, and shock loss can make it worse. While grafts are firmly in place by this time, therefore hair follicles, so they will likely grow back. However, it is possible to lose native hair follicles permanently due to trauma of graft placement too close to native hair. It is impossible to tell if this is the case without knowing details of your transplant surgery. It is important you discuss any issues with your transplant surgeon. I hope this helps you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. Thanks Dr. I noticed most of my transplanted hair have shed where I had no native hair. Also my transplanted hair initially grew little bit for 3 weeks and then now suddenly started falling...is this normal phenomenon? I had my HT done on Jan 29 2018.
Hi Nihin Chavda, It is normal for transplanted hair to shed. What is important is the grafted hair follicles are in place so they can grow. If you are worried, go see your transplant surgeon to have your scalp physically examined. I hope this helps you.
Hi abhishek bhadra, Hair grafts are so firmly in place 48 hours after a transplant that it would take a device to remove them. If hair grafts are taken from the true permanent zone at the back of the head, they are genetically resistant to hair thinning, so they are not likely to be lost. However, if they are taken outside the permanent zone as is common in FUE hair transplants, some grafts may be prone to thinning. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Afnan Ahmed, It is generally safe, but you should consult your transplant surgeon who knows details of your transplant, your scalp, and where you are in the healing process. I hope this helps you.
Sorry Dr... Nopecia or Finastride tablets are useful or harmful to prevent hair loss and should I use it all my lifetime....there is talk of its harmful for genitals and other health issues ...sorry for disturbing you by my questions... Thanks a lot
Hi Alaa khedr khedr, Finasteride is useful in blocking DHT formation, and slowing hair thinning in men who have DHT-sensitive hair follicles. Chances of sexual side effects are rare, and occur only in about 2% of patients, both in clinical use, and in official studies. If side effects are experienced, then simply stopping the drug can restore normal function. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Ruhul Amin Jewel, Yes, hair transplants can cause permanent damage and loss to nearby native hairs. Hair transplants are not advised too close to native hairs.

Hi Sergio De miranda, I suggest you ask your transplant surgeon about this as they know details of your transplant surgery, your scalp, and your general health. I hope this helps you.
Hey can you help! My scabs have all fell out but one I might have pulled out too early. I have now a red blood looking areas. Like a scab you would pull off your knee. Will this scab again and be ok?
Hi Gooner Talk Let’s talk, Sorry to hear about your problem. It's unlikely you pulled out a grafted hair follicle, but without a proper examination for me to diagnose it, it's best you refer to this to your transplant surgeon who knows your scalp and the details of your transplant surgery. I hope this helps you.
Hi Tony Jones, You should follow up with your doctor regarding your healing process, but generally you should only apply minoxidil after your transplant scabs have healed, and no less than two weeks after your transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Faraz Akhtar, I don't recommend you wear a hat the day after the procedure, as you should be at home recovering from surgery. I advise minimizing any handling of your scalp for the first 48-72 hours after your procedure. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Sir you speak so gentle. I like the way you do councling.
Thank you for your kind words, mian jalal! And thank you for watching!
Hi@gitiskd180,
Hair shedding due to severe stress called telogen effluvium can cause temporary hair shedding, including shedding of transplanted hair.
Hi Kay Faulds,
By day 6 the grafts are firmly in place, and you would need a medical instrument to loosen them. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi kevin jose,
It shouldn't affect your grafts this far out since your transplant, but I do encourage you to give your scalp a good scrub with shampoo. Our patients are often hesitant to scrub their scalp soon after a transplant, so we do it for them in our offices to demonstrate the strength of the grafts. You can contact your surgeon's office about the possibility if you are hesitant, and can watch this video about it for more details:
th-cam.com/video/K-t6Eu1McJU/w-d-xo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMD sir, it should affect or shouldn't affect?
Hi kevin jose,
Sorry for the typo. It shouldn't affect your grafts.

I thought so too; shedding.
And not grafts falling out.
6 days is really good and the grafts should be strong already.
Hi @PrepaidKreditkarte81,
FUE transplants have a higher percentage of damaged grafts due to the graft harvesting process, which can be as high as 30%.
Hi Mr Jee,
Yes, it is safe to wash your hair 10 days after your transplant.
Hello sir i go in sun to buy a product for 10 minute so is my graft damge please answer me
Hi Vikas Yadav,
No, even moderate sun exposure would not damage your hair grafts. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD yes sir thanku
You're welcome,@@VikasYadav-gt4pg
I recently got a transplant in May. After 14 days I conditioned the scabs off and my hair looked like a full head of hair. The result was everything i hoped for. At day 30, 90% shed. If most hairs survived 14 days is that a good indication that they will all regrow or is their still a chance that a significant amount of graphs wont survive?
Hi John Isme,
It's still early to tell how your transplant turned out as you need to wait for grafts to grow out long, and native hair to grow back after shock loss. You can refer to these videos about what to expect after a hair transplant, and why further treatment is need to for progressive hair loss:

I am 13 days doc , can i strt using finesteride on my transplanted hair?
Hi @sadiqidris1379,
Finasteride for slowing hair thinning due to male pattern hair loss should have been used before, during, and after your hair transplant.
Hi BananaBatsy,
It’s normal to have hair shedding after a transplant, which could be normal shedding, shock loss from the trauma of the hair transplant, or it could be graft hairs transplanted to close to existing hair causing damage to native follicles called collateral loss. If you are worried, you can follow up with your transplant surgeon who can examine your scalp, and knows details of your transplant surgery. I hope this helps you
Doctor, your hair is too good. Wonder if that's a coincidence.
Thanks for the compliment, The world in the VLog!
I didn't see any blood or anything like that, at the moment I have quite a lot of hair on one side and it's very rare on the other side, thank you in advance,
Hi n0th1ng 9,
While chicken pox should not affect your hair grafts, you can see your surgeon to examine your scalp to make sure. Straining your face by laughing will not affect your grafts. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Fares E,
I suggest you have your surgeon examine your scalp for proper healing of scabs, and openings for the follicles, because you do risk infection if you swim with your scalp not adequately healed. I hope this helps you.
Hi sir, so do u have any clinic in australia and can i beanie after 30 days of hair transplant, it wont effect the grafts.
Hi @rajpreetsingh5873,
While wearing a hat should be OK this long after your hair transplant, you should ask your surgeon who knows where you are in your healing, and knows the details of how your transplant was performed. I hope this clarifies things for you.
How does the regenerative treatment for native thinning hair compare to Finasteride? are the results of regenerative treatment permanent compared to Finasteride? Is this only for improving thickness of baby/thinning hairs or also for new follicle generation?
Hi The world in the VLog,
Finasteride is primarily for slowing hair thinning by blocking DHT-formation, with a limited effect on thickening thinning hair. If you want to thicken thinning hair, finasteride can’t do it alone. It is not possible to regenerate dead hair follicles, or generate new ones as hair follicles are basically tiny organs. You can refer to these videos on the importance of finasteride in treating male pattern hair loss; and how we thicken thinning hair, and increase scalp coverage in men who were already on finasteride for years:

Thank you for your video, very reassuring 👍 could I ask a question? I’ve had a fur transplant, but need to get back to work as a window cleaner, how long do I need to wait before I can wear a hat? Thanks again
Hi bobbymac 131,
Hair transplant patients actually often walk out right after surgery wearing a hat.
Hi H Soni,
I'm a little confused by your question - did the crusts form 9 months after, or 3 weeks after? It is normal to have scabs 3 weeks after transplant, but not 9 months. I can't tell exactly what it is after 9 months without physically examining it. I suggest you return to your transplant surgeon to have it checked. I hope you can have it checked by your surgeon soon.
Thanks for your reply. It is after nine months.
Hi Dr, its been three weeks since my first HT and its like 30% of my hair getting shed, my question is how do i know that it is normal shed or my graft are fail due to not survive?

It is unlikely you damaged any grafts, but I would still advise you don't make unnecessary contact with your scalp during the healing period. If you suspect any issues, your transplant surgeon can examine your scalp. I hope this helps you.
What is the best prp brand to use after hair transplant
Hi Buzz Dxb,
I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. You can refer to these videos about the differences between TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration from PRP alone:

Dear sir..i recently gor a transplant done from DHI..it looks remarkably amazing..my question and worry is..does shredding happens forsure or the transplanted hair can grow as well..?
Hi Vishal Sudan,
Transplanted hair, if taken from the true permanent zone, is genetically resistant to hair thinning.
Thank you sir..for your kind reply..but i believe you have slightly taken the question in different way..my question was " shredding is the process in th hair transplant, wherein the transplanted hair shreds and new hair grows out, so is it definite that the transplanted hair will forsure shred, cnt the same (planted hair) start growing once planted, rather thn first shredding and then sprouting out"..thanks!
i’m 4 months into my hair transplant using minoxid finasteride and having prp noticing a few sheds everyday is this normal?
Hi @peterlloyd8358,
It's normal for everyone to shed 50-100 hairs a day.

Hi Buzz Dxb,
Sorry to hear about your problem. How old were you when you had your transplant? Hair transplants do not treat progressive hair loss at all, they just move hair from the back of the head to the front, or to the mid scalp or crown. You still need a treatment like finasteride to slow further hair thinning, which you have not indicated you are taking. Hi@@soumiamohamed9037,
Your description of losing hair behind your grafts sounded like you were too young to have a hair transplant. Hello doctor,, i would like to know what other treatment n surgery is necessary after a hair transplant,, and after how many days i can continue exercising n playing sport like physical sport??
Hi Kh Shivakumar,
Pattern hair loss is progressive, and progression is not treated by hair transplants at all. You can refer to this video about further treatment after a hair transplant:
th-cam.com/video/AciyxYIC2uQ/w-d-xo.html

Hi@@khshivakumar7610,
If you have male pattern hair loss in your 20s, then you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and will need a DHT-blocker like finasteride. Finasteride and other DHT-blockers like dutasteride are prescription medications. Growth serums are not DHT-blockers. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi najat mrini,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Hi jahankavaasi,
No, the whole scalp is very vascular, including the crown and hairline. Blood supply to the scalp only becomes a problem if you have more grafts than available blood supply, which is a big drawback of megasessions. Unless you had a megasession, blood supply to crown should not be an issue. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank You Very Much Sir, for taking your time to answer this question, Very much appreciate you for sparing time for us to answer our questions ... thanks much again
jahankavaasi hello what do u mean by megasession ?
Hi Naja Saber,
A megasession is when an unsafe number of hair grafts are done once, putting graft survival at risk as blood supply in the scalp is not enough to support that many hair grafts, usually 5000 grafts or more in a single transplant surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.

There has been very heavy scabbing so I used a q tip today to gently dab the scabbing off. Im worried I shouldn't have done this as the grafts could have fallen out. What do you think?
Hi Achillea Kyriakou,
Hair grafts are so firmly in place 48-72 hours after a transplant that it would take a surgical instrument to remove them, so a gentle dab of a Q-tip will not dislodge a graft 8 days after transplant surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi mark tho,
You can consult with your transplant surgeon as I'm not familiar with the details of your surgery. However, grafts that fall out within the first week after surgery more than likely didn't take to the scalp, and would not have grown hair anyway. Ensuring that grafts do take is the type of detail only your surgeon knows about. I hope this helps you.

Hi Santsh Dandge,
It isn't likely you are losing grafts, and more likely it's the hair shedding. If hair sheds, the grafted hair follicle remains in place, as they are strongly in the scalp 48-72 hours after a transplant. As long as the hair follicle is in place, hair will still grow. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Edgarlinho Ramirez,
You should ask your doctor why they recommended that. I think as long as you stay away from any activities that can damage your scalp skin, for example excess sun exposure that leads to sunburn and flaking, I don't think the sun needs to be avoided. Ask your doctor about the specifics of what they are recommending. I hope this helps you.
Hi Doctor Prasad,
Informative video but my question is a bit post that point.
Thanks
Hi Yasser Hasan,
As long as the transplanted hair follicles remain in place and alive, they can grow hair, even after shedding. Wait at least a full year to assess the success of your hair transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Yes it does. Thank you Dr, Apreciate your response
Hi Supersmooth007,
I have to say your results look pretty great!
Amiya Prasad, M.D. so the hair transplaned will go thinning to after year?or is same like donor area forever?
Hi Kam Edy,
Transplanted hair taken from the permanent zone shouldn't thin, but native hair on the scalp as well as hair grafts taken from outside the permanent zone are still prone to thinning, which is why a hair transplant alone will not treat progressive hair loss. Other treatments like finasteride and Hair Regeneration are needed after a transplant to treat native hair and increase coverage. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Tq so much Doctor,,u have hair generation at san antonio?
Hi Kam Edy,
We don't currently offer the treatment in Texas, but we do have many patients coming to New York or Virginia from around the country and around the world for the Hair Regeneration treatment.
Tq cor the answering Dr,,
Sir transplanted hair has same strength as natural hair
Hi Vikas Yadav,
Ideally, hair grafts are taken from the permanent zone which contains hair genetically resistant to hair thinning, so they do not get progressively thinner like native scalp hair. However, with FUE procedures some hair grafts are taken from outside the permanent zone, so they are prone to hair thinning. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Also doc, how many percent of probability or chances of the implanted graft to die or not work?
Hi 他殺自殺,
It depends on how your transplant is done.

Hi pradeep bisht,
Shed hair does grow back, but pattern hair loss causes shed hair to grow back thinner, and there could be a delay in regrowth because it also limits the number of hair growth cycles. You should talk to your surgeon about oral finasteride as it's more effective than topical solutions, but even oral finasteride alone is limited in stimulating hair growth. Hi Swaraj A,
PRP is not a treatment for hair shedding, and hair shedding is not pattern hair loss.

Hey sir my doctor also suggested me dht blocker,

Hi Swaraj A,
The risk of sexual side effects is only about 2%, so the vast majority of men on a DHT-blocker don't experience them. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thanks for your help sir soo it means I can go for it right ?
Hi Swaraj A,
If your doctor can confirm hair thinning and miniaturization of hair, then you should go on a DHT-blocker. Your doctor can write you a prescription.

Hi Callum Shove,
Your grafts are very strong this long after a transplant, so you should have nothing to worry about.
Hi mahesh patil,
Hair grafts are strongly in the scalp 48-72 hours after transplant surgery. We normally advise aggressive scrubbing of the scalp after the first week. We often shampoo and scrub patients' hair at the office when they are afraid of an aggressive scrub soon after surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. a wish you were in uk a really need help with my scalp getting the scabs out been 6 weeks since my operation
Hi@@CAS15051981,
At 6 weeks, it's more than enough time to scrub the scalp aggressively to dislodge scabs.
Hi coalblacksmith,
Yes, it is possible. You can refer to this video about shedding after a hair transplant - th-cam.com/video/sC_iWjbThxw/w-d-xo.html
If it takes a year, why are there videos of before and after 3 months, 6 months etc of people with so much hair growth? Thank you for the videos?
Hi Vince Warren,
The visible effects of the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration can be seen soon after treatment, depending on where an individual is in their hair growth/shedding/resting phases.
No problem, @@vincewarren1271. I'm glad it's clearer to you now.
Hi@@vincewarren1271,
It is normal to have hair shedding after a transplant, and the hair will grow as long as the grafted follicle is in place.
Hi Vaibhav Shukla,
As explained in the video, hair grafts are so strongly in place at this time that you need surgical tool to remove them. Hair shedding after a transplant is normal, but the transplanted hair follicles remain in place, and will grow hair. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thank u so much sir i was seriously worried now feeling relaxed.

dear sir I have done Fue hair Transplant here in India, I have done 4000 grafts on my crown on 23rd and 24th May this year , after 15 days of my Transplant I joined my work place , after working some days I m feeling itching on planted area or sometime my planted area looks oily. I have to walk inside my workshop for my nature of duty. Is there any chance to graft come out after taking complete bed rest of 15 days and taking proper care ? But yah it's true I have to walk in my office for some time like here and there. Please give me some suggestions
HI ATISH Kumar,
Hair grafts are so firmly in place 48-72 hours after surgery that a surgical tool is needed to remove them, so you are not likely experiencing loss of grafts at this time.
Hi ATISH Kumar,
You need to realize that hair transplants don't stop hair thinning.
Hi Dude Plays,
It isn't likely you lost hair grafts this long after transplant surgery.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thx so much
You're welcome, @@DudePlays247!

Is this comment section still active ..I have some doubts.
Hi kiran kumar,
Yes it is, and I see our question on the other video.
Bald vs thinning hair.
There's a huge difference.
Remember that guys.
Thank you Dr Amiya Prasad.
You're welcome, yus 35! And you're absolutely right, as treatment for thinning hair and treatment for smooth baldness are different.
Is he talking about prp?
Hi SalmoTheFirst,
The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video is not PRP alone, as it is a combination of PRP and extracellular matrix by ACell as the main ingredient. You can see more about it in these videos featuring improving hair transplant coverage, as well as a standalone treatment without surgery:

Doctor, I got hair transplant on 5th April of this year. till now there is no growth in my transplanted hair and they are not shedding. I do not have any inflammation or itchiness on my scalp. Moreover I almost lost my native hair on the transplanted area. now my scalp is clearly visible. Im worrying about the results. please advise me on this.
Hi Ram Chennam,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Thank you Doctor for your valuable information.
You're welcome Ram!
If your hair on your head is thinning till its completely gone, does it mean that the newly transplanted hair will eventually fall out due to dht or whatever is causing it?
Hi Baldoxxx4000,
Generally, transplanted hair is not affected by DHT because it is taken from the permanent zone at the back of the head that is genetically resistant to the effects of DHT.
Hi Nathan Henn,
It does depend on where your grafts are in the hair growth cycle, but shafts of grafted hair coming through the crown should have been seen right after surgery.

Hi Rumana Firdose,
It depends on whether it was shock loss, which is temporary shedding, and the hair grows back; or collateral loss where the transplanter damaged the follicles permanently, and hair doesn't grow back.
Hi@@razorsharp4ever,
If your grafts are growing, you should not be too concerned. I hope this helps you.
sir how much years can stand hair after transplante means what is age of hairs after transplante
Hi Doctor Amiya.
Could you explain the below?
Are these process normal after a hair transplant?
Growth cycle@anagen phase
Shedding phase@catagen (1 month)
Resting phase@telogen effluvium (6 months)
Shockloss
Hi yus 35,
Those are the stages, more or less, of the hair growth/shedding cycle, not necessarily related to hair transplant. However, it's called telogen, as telogen effluvium is actually stress-related hair shedding. Shock loss doesn't always happen. Hi 他殺自殺,
It's long enough after your transplant that t's not likely a hair follicle, but rather dried skin or keratin. if you have concerns about your transplant, you should follow up with your transplant surgeon who knows your scalp and the details of your surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Can I wear cap after 3 days of ht is there any problem to graft. can i wear tight sports cap ?
Hi Anu kumar,
Your grafts should be firmly in place after 48-72 hours, but it may not be comfortable to wear a cap this soon after hair transplant due to healing, itchiness, and scabs. I would wait until you are further in the healing process for your own comfort. I hope this clarifies things for you.
If I didn't use minoxidil or plasma injection after the operation transplanted hair will not grow? Please give me your advice
Hi Alaa khedr khedr,
Your transplanted hair will still grow without additional treatment.

Hi Anjum Nisar,
Hair transplants do not treat progressive hair loss and hair thinning, so additional treatment after a transplant is needed such as finasteride to slow continued hair thinning. Older hair transplants can still be improved by thickening thinning hair, and stimulating growth from inactive but still viable hair follicles, as shown in this video - th-cam.com/video/A3huSHGYrFU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for posting this video, this is reassuring. Some of my hairs have come out (day 3-8) but I have been scratching at the scabs (I can't help it).
You're welcome sarnobat2000! It is better to scrub your scalp well with baby shampoo than to scratch them.
Hello sir I had my transplant by fut ,in shedding phase my hair fall with root is it normal ? And my donor area's hair falling down also pls give me solution I'm worried about this
Hi Shoaib Raza,
Hair shedding is normal after a transplant, and can increase due to shock loss, but shed hair does grow back.
Hi KARZAN TAHIR,
Shed hair does grow back, and it is normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day. There could be a delay in regrowth, especially if you an FUE where some grafts are taken out of the permanent zone, and these hairs are just as prone to hair thinning as the hairs that were thinned and lost before you had your transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Dear sir, i had hair Transplantation after 10 days of Transplantation my Transplanted hair is started to fall whether its normal or abnormal , thank u in advance.
Hi Pamala Chanikya,
It is normal for transplanted hair to shed after the transplant, but it will grow back as the hair follicle is still in place. Transplanted hair is so strongly in place 48-72 hours after the transplant procedure that it will take a surgical instrument to remove them, so you are not losing grafts after 10 days. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. that’s so comforting. Thanks
Hello Sir,,
I've done hair transplant two years ago,, and now whenever i wash my head i get 3 to 4 or sometimes 5 hairs from transplanted hair,,,,What is this?? And hair has been light little a bit,,,
Hi usman malik,
It's normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day, and they do grow back. I hope this clarifies things for you.
thank you sir

It should be no problem to have jaw surgery as hair transplant surgery does heal quite quickly. You should indicate your previous hair transplant surgery to the new surgeon for your jaw. Best of luck with both your procedures.

But can i ask one thing, I had my first transplant and i didn't use any minoxidil, and grow was very good, no hair fall at all. then i had second session and my doctor asked me to use minoxidil as it good for hair in long term and i start using it twice a week, but after 7 month, I can see hair shedding with white bulb at the end and my density is getting down. can you please suggest what is happening here, should I stop using it or continue, can u make suggestion here please
Thank You in Advance
Hi Subroto Bhattacharjee,
Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but delays the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head.

Hi Nihin Chavda,
Hair shedding is normal after a transplant, and shock loss can make it worse.
Hi Nihin Chavda,
It is normal for transplanted hair to shed. What is important is the grafted hair follicles are in place so they can grow. If you are worried, go see your transplant surgeon to have your scalp physically examined. I hope this helps you.
After when graft are safe ? And less chance of graft loss
Hi abhishek bhadra,
Hair grafts are so firmly in place 48 hours after a transplant that it would take a device to remove them.
Thank you sir it helps me a lot

Hi Alaa khedr khedr,
Finasteride is useful in blocking DHT formation, and slowing hair thinning in men who have DHT-sensitive hair follicles. Chances of sexual side effects are rare, and occur only in about 2% of patients, both in clinical use, and in official studies. If side effects are experienced, then simply stopping the drug can restore normal function. I hope this clarifies things for you.
