Doc, my man. ‘Preciate that brother. Let’s be honest, I neither have the face nor the voice for vlogging - gotta make up for it with the trail shots! 😂
Gravity filtering at camp is convenient, but I get spill over when the bottle I'm filtering into gets full. If I'm in a tent and using a tree to hold up the filter system and it dribbles onto the ground, it doesn't matter so much, but it happened to me in a shelter and I got the floor wet. No one was staying in the shelter with me when it happened, so it wasn't a huge deal, but I know I can't always count on that.
I'm not a biker, so I had to look it up, but "riding sweep" is a thing in cycling. There is also something called a broom wagon, that is a vehicle that picks up stragglers at the very back of the pack in a race, who won't finish in time. Something new for me.
@@DixonHikes Wow. That's disappointing to hear that the bikers are not more respectful to pack out their trash. Hopefully after the event, someone organized a cleanup crew. I'll be hitting the OT for my first thru hike coming up soon. I'm very glad we're getting some rain right now. I was getting worried about how much water I was going to have to haul.
@@DixonHikes November/December. Counting down the days. Hopefully we get a good amount of rain now to recharge the creeks and springs, and dry while I'm on trail! Haha. Can you work on that for me?
You should be fine. We’re getting a nice, all-day soaking rain today. The only stretch I would be concerned with would be Foran Gap to Big Brushy Creek. More rain on the way next week.
I shared shelters 3 nights in a row. Not a knock on anyone, but between the snoring & noisy sleeping pads + staying up a little later than normal visiting. I just sleep better when alone, & preferably in my tent. Majority of my trips are solo.
Another fine OT video. Thanks for posting.
Good stuff 👍👍
Way to go baby! Had a hard time waiting till three to be able to watch it. Just gets better and better with each video!
Me and Ol Rowdy just watched ya walk. Great camera work buddy.
Put Rowdy right to sleep I’m sure. Ha! See ya bright & early my brother. Back to the grind!
You’re killing it on these videos Chris! You captured the trail on camera like a pro

Don’t sell yourself short man! Your videos are legit
Dude, thanks. Hope you can catch the finale of this hike - I break down my purpose & why I even make these videos. ✌🏼

Gotta keep an eye on it, for sure. Floors in OT shelters are pea gravel. Gravity is nice while setting up though!

That makes sense. “Sweeps” job should’ve also been to pick up all the trash they left behind on the trail. Ha

Hell yeah. What month you looking at doing the OT?

Why do you think you sleep better in your tent than in a shelter? It didn't look like you had company at the shelters when you were there.

Sorry we beat you guys 😂
