Yeah, if it wasn't for the slusho bobblehead or the cloverfield monster at the end, you wouldn't know the movie is meant to be shoehorned in the cloverfield universe. It almost feels like something the execs came up with to help drum up interest in the movie.

Not only is a unique story, but it allows writers and producers to grab stand alone scripts that might have otherwise been shelved and use them in an artistic way. Hope they eventually make a 4th installment. I really love the idea of it changing WW2!

Just one thing - all of the movies can exist in the same universe, same timeline, but different points on it. This would also align with the title The Cloverfield PARADOX. What i mean is that the actions from the 3rd movie could be the reason for the monsters in the first and second. Assuming the Shepard really opened a dimensional portal, it's entirely possible (if we think of time as a 4th of N number dimensions) for the effect to be travelling not only across space, but also time. Basically using the Shepard in 2028, can summon monsters back in 2008, which stay there for the 2nd movie all the way to the 3rd. Sort of the effect from the mini-series "The Triangle" where every action has effect not only on the present and future, but also the past. That's why i love sci-fi movies with space-time. Everything is possible and nothing can be completely ruled-out.
I'm guessing 3 years on you learned your theory is wrong right? All 3 movies if started at the same exact time unleash monsters/strange events at the exact time and second the accelerator is fired. I forgot if its 32 minutes in or whatever but in all 3 movies if it is the 32 minute mark the accelerator is fired monsters and strange events start at that point in all 3 of the movies.

I'm liking the multiple universe thing. Makes it really complicated and quantum. Might not be the best of movie series, but it's premise is like an idea created by Arthur C. Clarke in a horror movies mood lol
I really liked "The Mist" though I thought it lacked enough detail. I would like to see either a sequel or reboot that hoes in depth on how and what is causing the window into another dimension and to follow up on how it is dealt with.
I had high hopes for the Cloverfield universe. I enjoyed movies being in the same universe but only connected by clues. Was hoping it would lead to a climax movie that tied it all together. After this movie it comes apart.

The film "Overlord" was only rumored to be the 4th film in the series. Abrams himself has denied that. It's a standalone film. It's not part of the Cloverfield franchise.
“ they risk tearing open space time” according to Albert Einstein, that’s not how space time works… If I recall correctly, Einstein theorized that space and time were linked pretty much via gravity. The heavier (mass) something was the more gravity it had which “warped” time around it if you considered time as a plain that mass sat on. The more thr mass “sank” into this plain the slower time went around the object, its why it’s theorized that around black holes time moves so slowly that’s the outside observer, it’s as if it’s standing still. To “break spacetime” you would need to build a device capable of generating gravity so massive you’d likely destroy the solar system the moment you turned the thing on. I like JJ Abrams, but sometimes I think he throws science jargon at you hoping that you’ll just take his word at it.
Fun fact about theories, they haven't been proven yet. So, in theory(see what I did there), the tearing of the space/time "membrane" between verses is a possibility.

I have a wild fan theory What if the object that fell in the ocean was the original ship that was replaced by the new one and when the new ship left it brought the clover monster with it to the original planet which explains why Abrahms said it was still the same monster
