She basically was bitten by an oversized version of a flea that are on the body of the Cloverfield monster, imagine getting a mosquito bite but the swelling is on your entire body
The HSP (The Parasite) bited her causing a mild infection in the body. But since she drank slusho which contained extreme amounts of nectar which caused a massive swelling with the nectar came in interaction with the parasite infection in her body, blowing her up from her central cavity where the parasite is able to infect successfuly. Although if she din't drink the slusho she would've been alive but probaly still die from the toxicness of saliva.
When the trailer originally dropped, the scene of Marlena about to explode had people going "What the fu**?!" I can't believe that movie is almost 20 years old.

She got bitten by one of those things 1:44 when they were trying to escape the subway tunnel and somehow the toxin (or someting) from the bite cause her to swell and explode, like this dude 1:01
It's easier to slee if you slow it down in the settings menu, but once they pull her behind the plastic curtain, her entire midsection suddenly bloats until she explodes. I could've sworn I saw the shadow of her ribcage just before she fell.

@sjonnieplayfull5859 could also be that they wanted to isolate her before the reaction happens fully and maybe try to save her. Military is so on point and decisive it serves the setting well
When hud heard about we got another bite here 1:01 with the person open stomach and chest cavity they should have made the connection and said AH OHOO 😳😨😬
Realistically, he probably thought bite was used in the context of mauling.
@@WholesomeMemes Considering the whole 'we got another bite' with the corpse was just meant for the audience. Because that would clue us in when they started screaming "WE HAVE ANOTHER BITE!" followed by dragging her away.
@@agentmaryland1239 aye, that was evident.
Its crazy that all these years later, i can still remember that pop vividly
"I don't feel so good"
Now THATS an understatement!!!!
I searched up cloverfield best scene and you didn’t disappoint
The shaky cam throughout the film was just too much, it’s like it was filmed by Michael j fox
If this was shot like a normal movie this would of been phenomenal.
2:33 POV you ate mentos and drank diet Coke
I've seen this a few times but I never noticed Marlena's body swelling before the popping of her stomach... I'm not blind, promise
It happened so fast. It's hard to see at first
I saw this in theatres when I was in high school. I've never forgotten this death lmao.
I always thought she vomited blood and died, but it turns out she explodes 😮
Me too
It went so fast I thought she was shot.
@@sagesaria My first thought upon watching this way back when was that she exploded, she wasn't shot. Mostly because there was no gunshot sound. Given the circumstances, it's highly unlikely any of those soldiers are carrying silenced weapons, and the soldiers I don't think went back with her, they just helped drag her. Medical personnel wouldn't have weapons.
@@agentmaryland1239 Oh sure, watching again I realize all that. But on first watch I had literally a second to process what had happened, so that was my first thought.
Silencers or not, youd hear the shot when its that close.
tbh i loved this scene
One of my favourite movie
WAIT A SECOND JUST WAIT A SECON WAIT WAIT A SECOND WAIT MARLENA WAIT A SECOND JUST WAIT A SECOND JUST WAIT-
My God, after years this scene still disturbs me, the first time I watched this movie was when I was about 12 or 13, today I'm 18 years old and this continues to be the worst death in movies that I've seen it, it's fast, scary, and brutal, a very good movie by the way.
Marlena went KAPLOWEE!
If I hear bro say “wait a second” again I’m gonna lose it.
Everyone had the hots for Marlena.
Rob is proof that simping kills 😂
i always pause it when her belly is about to explode 😂😂😂
>>>>>>
Does anyone has any idea what happened to her? And why?
She exploded from one of clovers little minions bites
2:34
She basically was bitten by an oversized version of a flea that are on the body of the Cloverfield monster, imagine getting a mosquito bite but the swelling is on your entire body
The HSP (The Parasite) bited her causing a mild infection in the body. But since she drank slusho which contained extreme amounts of nectar which caused a massive swelling with the nectar came in interaction with the parasite infection in her body, blowing her up from her central cavity where the parasite is able to infect successfuly. Although if she din't drink the slusho she would've been alive but probaly still die from the toxicness of saliva.
@@zukothestupidcat3686 how the fuck is that possible
When the trailer originally dropped, the scene of Marlena about to explode had people going "What the fu**?!" I can't believe that movie is almost 20 years old.
This part made me sad. I really really liked Marlena 😢
Zombie: become a zombie
Vampire: lose blood
Cloverfield: 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
DAMN her stomac expanded and she bursted
The audio really ruins this. Its edited so to someone who likes treble it sounds good. All I hear are high pitch squeels.
Instead of being recorded how it would have sounded.
Funny how there is literally an active emergency field hospital right there in the mall, and there was no sound when they were talking to eachother
I hate when civilians ignore directions putting others in danger
its sad to hear her screaming hud name while she was being dragged away. Horrific death
I’ll be honest, when I first saw this part in the trailer I thought she got torn apart by giant teddy bears. 😂
own safety comes first. NEVER follow anyone like Rob..
I love how marlena just exploded and the person
sitting is just chill
I keep forgetting that the cameraman is TJ Miller lol
Movie still holds up pretty good
This comment section is filled with the worlds most unfunny people
slusho + bite = boom
Marlena turned into discord before popping 💀
Nowadays, her exploding would just be a Tiktok challenge.
Thank God that app is finally getting banned!

ok grandpa let’s get you to bed ❤
Tiktok is filthy slop. Time for your gen alpha ass to go to bed @@samuraisharkie
What exactly happened to her?
She got bitten by one of those things 1:44 when they were trying to escape the subway tunnel and somehow the toxin (or someting) from the bite cause her to swell and explode, like this dude 1:01
It's easier to slee if you slow it down in the settings menu, but once they pull her behind the plastic curtain, her entire midsection suddenly bloats until she explodes. I could've sworn I saw the shadow of her ribcage just before she fell.
@@tytoalbasoren9457yeah and there was an early warning ⚠️, if you see animals like rats and mice or small fish or anything like that running away or swimming away...be warned...they are scared....which means there is something bigger and nasty comeing your way...remember this
By the way they react this furious, there is a chance that this is how the creatures procreate, by infecting humans who burst open when filled with really fast growing beasts
At least that was what I always thought
@sjonnieplayfull5859 could also be that they wanted to isolate her before the reaction happens fully and maybe try to save her. My guess for how is preemptively creating exit holes for the gas created by the reaction to go through and give her something to help clot her blood. Better to a hole in the chest than an exploded body.
