Kurt Russell's son, Wyatt, looks so much like like his dad, and if there was a proper remake of THE THING, I want him to playy McCready.

or a sequel to J.carpenter's The Thing. 🤷‍♂️ he could play macready's son, if he ever had one. Lol but that would have to be well written script.

Freak me out because though it's just a movie, pretty messed up way for someone to go in a movie. Imagine the strain on your mind when you can't feel anything of your body anymore yet you are alive. The biologics keeping you alive also and being human yet not anymore. Being alive but not anymore. Thing is that is scientifically possible so it showcased well how far Science can be pushed to horror.

Hate Monger it can be viewed as a type of existential horror, the thought that death will not end your suffering but may in fact prolong or exacerbate it. Imagine being this woman, subjected to gruesome experiments and torture and even when her head and spinal column were removed from her body she was still fully aware. Rather terrifying situation to put yourself in as a viewer.

I watched this film after it came out on blu-ray and I can say it was one of my favorite movies of 2018 as I’m a World Wars buff and to see the Airborne part of Operation Overlord in this kind of way was amazing. I first watched this at a friends house and then later rented it from Redbox so my dad who is a World War 2 buff could see it and yet will the addition of black paratroopers in the 101st (which was an all whites division) was a bit of a stretch, but I can forgive it as it’s not trying to be 100% historical accurate it’s just trying to be a good film that takes place in a different timeline from our own. I really enjoyed the practical affects when used as they added an air of realism to the brutal way some of those soldiers during the climax had been injured from losing arms and legs to one of them having a milky eye to show his eye had been damage and the fact that the movie never revealed to much of what the goo was and that they left it to your imagination was perfect for the horror.

@@Gadget-Walkmen First off, David was just naming history. There was only one Unit that contained black men was one that only contained black men. That’s not racist. That’s just basic history.
Also yeah you can say he was lucky, but it just gets to a point of being bullshit after a point. Like let’s take you for example. You’re thrown into an underground Nazi base, and you have no idea about the layout of the base or the amount of security there. You somehow manage to save a prisoner and you also somehow manage to find the secret exit that leads out of there. What chance would you give yourself? Something like a 1/3,000,000 chance? After so many “lucky” moments, it’s just stupid.
No one said the movie was horrible. You’re just hallucinating that we’re saying that. I enjoyed it but it’s also valid to be able to criticize some dumb historical and narrative inaccuracies.
Also stop throwing the word “racist” and “racism” around so much when he says anything about a race that you just happen to disagree with. You don’t know David’s race. And he clearly wasn’t racist. He was just speaking factual information from what actually happened in the 40’s.

Studios don’t want to take risk w/ original works, so anything that is original instantly gets looked at more favorable to me. Dope movie, but I agree that the stereotypical evil was a bit of a detractor. I think in the future bc of GOT and Thanos, we may start to get protagonist who are villains bc they lost in the story. Not bc they’re just plainly evil. They’ll be evil bc history is won by the victors and they lost, but viewers will still be able to see and justify their positions even if they are still flawed.

Historically speaking it would have been very easy to integrate a black soldier into the storyline as there were many units that participated in the D-Day landings he could have come from, particularly artillery and barrage balloon units. The danger with including the sergeant is that it ignores the segregation policy in place in the American armed forces and gives a distorted view of life for frontline soldiers. Unfortunately, lots of people believe what they see on the screen is an accurate representation of events (look at U-571 for instance, people believed that American forces captured the first Enigma machine!). Directors/producers need to be careful when playing with real events, even in a cartoon violence movie such as this.

I really liked how the movie leads us into the cliche’s and tropes of action/horror movies. Spoiler: The one scene when they lose a guy to a landline, you fully read into and expect that scene as exposition behind character building. You expect “Oh, this’ll probably be one of the last guys alive too, and Boyce will save him.” He dies from a land mine and defies the expectation of the Saving Private Ryan esque exposition scene when they’re marching to their objective. It took me by surprise and set the tone for the rest of the movie.

this movie is underrated and well-done. i will never forget how the movie blindsided me so hard with the realistic (and easily cool) scenes of Hollywood war - and i really thought i was going to watch a cinematically-updated war movie. so, that intense buildup of stress boyce felt as he first stumbled into the german base and discovering fantastical experiments no one could've imagined... i felt that, i really really felt that sense of horror. when we're watching a horror movie, we're scared of the "villains" but it doesn't surprise us that it exists. overlord, though, provided no hints of breaks from realism up until that science lab reveal - it really made me feel the fear i would've felt if i had really seen something so unimaginably horrific in my own reality. boyce did such a good job acting that scene as i hyperventilated along with him as he struggled to maintain his nerves after discovering such a horrible event AND trying to escape the worst place he could've ended up in alone AND trying to bring along an injured friend.
