I don't believe this had anything to do with his father. It looks way more like he wanted the Expedition and an inheritance. As for calling his father "Hitler", I called my dad that during arguments when I was his age. Even though, looking back, my dad was pretty chill. Also, he would've had some emotion if his father was abusive. Even relief would fit more than no emotion at all.

That photo of him and his beautiful family is completely heart-wrenching. All their big smiles (except for him, really). I started to cry when the detective mentioned that they were in the about to inform his grandma and aunt what had happened. Thinking about them receiving that news…devastating and horrific and horrendous beyond words. I do think that he’s just a psychopath. He was always joking about killing his whole family…who the fuck does that? I could say my friends and I had dark humor around our teen years but that’s something else entirely. I feel so sad that his little brothers didn’t get to grow up and that his parents didn’t get to grow old together and watch their sons experience the milestones of their lives. I’d lie if I said I gave a single fuck about this dude’s accomplishments in prison. What he did is truly evil and irreversibly tragic. I agree; unless his grandparents and aunt are extremely strong and stoic individuals, this could crush them. People realize you CAN die of a broken heart. It's been said in books or movies for decades, but now it's been medically proven. When Ezra McCandless killed Alex, his grandfather suffered a heart attack from the stress. (I don't mean psychopathic and cold; I mean there are usually one or two people in every family, whether due to shock, dissociation, can stay calm and focused as long as they stay busy, to plan things and make the funeral arrangements.) I remember someone telling me 30 years ago that only the strong break down when comforted, and I've found it to be true. I've seen men, especially , act completely stoic, (as long as they are keeping their mind busy and not letting the sadness in) until someone with real empathy comes up and hugs them and says, "I'm so sorry". Then they fall apart.

My dad was a widow and left to raise 4 daughters ages 1, 3,4, and 6. I was the oldest and he was the strictest on me. I remember hating him so much for not letting me go roller with my friends on weekends, go to sleepovers, forget dating, and chores were never ending. I realized later in as an adult that my dad just did what he thought was right and safe. If Nick was telling the truth about his father being abusive, and that's a very big IF, then I could possibly understand him killing his father and maybe his mother if he also blamed her for allowing the abuse to happen/continue. However I can see no reason at all for killing his younger brothers in that type of situation. Also I believe that if he was capable at 15 to cold bloodedly plan and carry out the murders of his entire family then there is no telling what he would be capable of doing if he is ever released from prison.

I was terribly abused by my father….in EVERY WAY….my mother just let it happen. As soon as I graduated high school I got the hell away from there and got married. I was running. My own mother said I was jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Thru all that I never thought of killing them. He even choked me in my 40’s. My mother told him to let me go or he would kill me. She was afraid her meal ticket would go away. I still didn’t do anything but try to make them love me. I finally walked away about 8 yrs ago… never looked back. Still never thought of killing them. Nick is dangerous! Very very dangerous!

Here’s a baseless theory… Have you seen the documentary, Scout’s Honor? I wonder if someone who was victim of SA and develops psychopathy would be ashamed to admit that they were SA. Honestly, just trying my hardest to figure out what led him to this. If his mom knew he was SA and did nothing, that could be a motive? Then again, I feel like you would have some sense of self preservation and would ultimately admit it as your defense. Also, found it compelling that he wants a pen pal and says he has an interesting story… kinda like he wants to tell more.

Mental and physical abuse with high expectations led to the murder of his dad and mom. Somewhere over time he thought he could kill them, serve a few years in a mental hospital and then be home free with all mulla. It's an immature boy getting his ideas from movies etc and these fantasies became his coping mechanism. Dissasocitive behaviours yes but it's still callous because he also planned his brother's deaths.
p.s; for anyone that's ever hidden anything under their mattress, your parent/s knew (unless you always changed your bed yourself.) This is actually a simple sign of his immaturity.
He only showed emotion for himself 1st when he realised his few years in a psych ward plan wasn't going to work and 2nd when he realised he was going to prison.

How can you be so cold and callous to grape 3 human beings and then toss them into the sea like its nothing...shyt stains that grape people then unalive them for their 10 seconds of pleasure should be thrown into solitary confinement and forgotten about cause the death penalty would be mercy even though Oba got the death penalty

It was said he was angry that for his birthday the week after the murders, he was pissed that he wasn't getting a better car than the families jeep. He was just a budding psychopath and prick. Very manipulative. I don't believe he was being abused, his parents had expectations, but not unreasonable

And I got a customized simgle shot 22 just my size, at 6 I got a 410 for Christmas and a bigger 22 lever action/ cowboy style that following august. And 2 firearms every year , except at 8, I got a boat and motor and 1 firearm - them at 12- I got a 4wheeler and 1 firearm , and at 13 I got a bigger boat and motor and a 1 firearm .
But yall get the pocture. I grew up on firearms and knew my dads as well as my own. And I aced the hunters safety course at 6 years old , made 100 +, and at 12 , I aced it again 100+.

Just came across this to watch, and ironically- there is a 15-year-old near where I live (Seattle, WA USA) that just killed his parents and 2 brothers. His sister survived her wounds. This just happened last week. I'm certain I'll be watching the story next year.

This case is so insane. Btw, I really like this video format!
