    Very helpful. When putting back the capacitor hold down screws, it is very important to press down on the capacitor hold down plate with one hand while inserting the screws. I lost one first try because it sprung out of the hole. The screw vanished like a magic trick never to be seen again. I ordered a pack of two Seiko capacitor screws on eBay. Good thing they came in a pack of two because the exact same thing happened again and I lost one. I think my hands shake too much from all the medication I take but the job is done and My Seiko SKA187 works like new again.

    Indeed, much braver! My hands haven't been steady enough for that replacement since my early 20's! That;s IF I had all those fine carbon tools. Cheers mate! Top shelf, brother.

    Just found my Kinect watch that's 22 years old. Had the capacitor replaced, then had it sitting in a drawer for about 3 years. Started wearing it again recently and it still holds a good charge. Now I know I can change the capacitor myself if I need to.
    Thanks for the video.

    I replaced the capacitor on my BFK a few year's ago, was sweating when taking the screws out and that was without a camera in the way. Good job and a nice video.

    Thanks for this video. Just bought a preowned SBCZ011, and it wasn't holding a charge above one day. Ordered a new capacitor (Seiko 30235MY), followed the process in this video, and I've got full 4-6 months charge. Hope yours is still going strong. All the best.

    You are much braver than I am lol.
    I've had my Ska 371 for 5 years, it was given as a gift second hand from my step father that brought it new, Its one of the best things he ever did for me 😒but this watch is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!
    They were like £300 brand new and such an iconic watch and can get them £200 2nd hand on ebay, its got to be the best ever watch ever made for that price, its a very heavy robust watch, I watched a stress test video on it years ago but cant find it, they drove over it in a 2 ton truck (weight would have been 500kg on one wheel), freezed it for 24 hours then boiled it and it never lost time!
    I haven't had to change the capacitor in mine yet, it still holds good capacity and time, its also best not to let the capacitor run low.
    The best way I found for charging it when not wearing was to put a round hook in ceiling with a bungee cord and swing it in slow circles, kinetic energy makes kinetic energy 😃

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like the idea of the bungee cord but not sure if it would catch on in the horology world 😁👍🏻 They are pretty bombproof shame Seiko have stopped making kinetic watches, so it worth keeping hole of it

      Everones an expert Leon ;) , Around two years ago I quit my job and started a 3 year degree cause in clock and watchmaking at University and for the last 8 months been working alone side a watchmaker. I'm happy to strip down and service most 3 hand watches and even polish them, as you can see in this video th-cam.com/video/reoYMwzOYjE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KmSduz5wWcFxE1vh ps thank you for taking the time to moment 👍🏻

    Thanks so much. My BFK stopped holding charge less than 5 yrs from when I purchased it.
    I just swapped out the Maxell TC920S with a new Seiko packaged Panasonic capacitor, packaging says part number 30235MY
    I'm hoping this one will last a lot longer than 10 years which should be easy surely! I'm very disappointed so far! I was thinking that Seiko would have outperformed a Casio, but not so.

      What you need to remember is that the charge life of the capacitor is directly related to how long and often the watch is worn. I have a Sept 2012 BFK model and it is still going strong but that's only because I have worn it everyday since I purchased it early in 2013 so the charge has been kept up to maximum all the time.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Edward1312 if you keep it charged up you won’t have any problems it’s when you let it discharge and leave it for some time they don’t let it

    • @GlenEdwards
      @GlenEdwards 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Edward1312 sounds great. So if I never took it off it would never have run out of charge. That makes a lot of sense… But they advertise it as “6 months life from full charge” so why would I wear it every day and never take it off for the fear of damaging the battery life.

    • @Edward1312
      @Edward1312 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GlenEdwards The charge lasts 6 months yes but if you let the charge degrade by not wearing the watch regularly and keeping the charge at the 6month mark you damage the capacitor. Kenetic watches have to be worn regularly that's there biggest drawback.

    like and subscribed! i have this particular model, and with rapid circulation in the same direction, i can get it fully wound in about 45 to 60 seconds. a second press and its down to about ten seconds, a third press and down to just about four seconds. now this is the original power supply and it appears on its last legs--or is checking repeatedly discharging power? at any rate, i'm wondering about buying a new part--will it lose power if it's a while before installation-and be a waste of money?

    • @ClickSpringReview

    Saw another video, same movement, job, and he didn't remove the rotor. Also the capacitor he fitted came with a new bridge plate and translucent film cover. 🤔

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its always safer to remove the rotor as you don't want it spinning and getting in the way when your handing small screws , You can get some which come with a new plate but they cost more and its really not needed if you have the old one 👍🏻

    This is really a great watch, mine is about 9 years old, finally running down, wont hold a charge longer than 3 days.
