    Hi Alex, love the videos! The A319 in your video, Fin 260, came out of storage in Marana, AZ in November of 2021 and went to Mobile, AL for a heavy check. It left Mobile on Jan 27 and went to YRQ where it had newly overhauled landing gear installed and then went into service from there. Nice to see the A319's flying!

      @@maccarr9923 AC does have options for the 737 and A220's. Their CCO was recently quoted mentioning the Rouge 319 fleet will need to be replaced so my guess is they will look to replace a large portion of their older airbus fleet with one large order

    The A319 was (I thought) one of the best sized aircraft for Canada and getting around in the late 90s, early 00s. Always liked the takeoff and legroom in the cabin. At the time AC were receiving these, WJ was still flying 732s, recall.

    The 319 is the “sports car” of the 320 family- the 321 is the “station wagon”. Fun plane to fly, good power for its’ weight and handles nimbly unlike the 321. Always enjoyed piloting the 319.

    • @marcusdamberger
      @marcusdamberger 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your insight into this plane as a pilot who has flown it and it's siblings. I guess for AC back in the 90's it made sense to get a smaller version of the A320 since training was virtually the same across Airbuses they had, i.e. type rating easier and quicker for pilots to get. With your pilots in the fleet able to fly different size aircraft depending on the airlines fluctuating need. Guessing efficiency of the newer reginal jets had nullified the cost to train a pilot on multiple types of planes now. So something like the A319 today doesn't gain them much anymore.

    I though "Rouge" was keeping the 319s. However when you consider the 737-MAX delivery stoppage, as well as the A220 unable to ramp up production, I suspsct AC's fleet plans had to adpat so bringing back some 319s makes sense.
    Note that at AC's bankruptcy of 2004, AC no longer owned any aircraft. Its The DC-9s and CP,s 737-200s were the last it owned and they were discarded. The rest all leased. Not sure if any of the aircraft received since (777 787 or 737 are owned or leased, but the Airbus aircraft all pre-date bankruptcy so definitely not owned.
    Forgot: Air Canada also reduced its orders for 737 and A220s during that virus thing. Not sure how much deliveries for remaining orderes were defered.

      I have a friend who was a cabin attendant before COVID, AC has a very thorough maintenance schedule for their indoor plumbing. She says she has no problem drinking the water on AC planes, although she also said she wouldn't drink the water on aircraft based in the US

      Most of those 25 year old aircraft are gone. I would pick AC over UA anyday

    a319 should be retired..just saw one over Toronto and it causes more whistling noise and engine noise on the ground while in flight than a plane twice its size! inefficient, loud and from a bygone era.

      They really aren't that loud though compared to a 737NG or a 777.
