Laptops are cool because you can make music in every place only you need is a good pair headphones . I recomend buy a laptop with a SSD Harddrive is more faster and Asus made recently new laptops the serie S15 is great .
The truth is when you have something portable, it becomes uncomfortable to make music anywhere, the noise, the ergonomics and especially the battery. The laptop is for those who travel between studios and DJs, portability is really of little use.
Desktop all the way... I have both but I do not really use my Laptop for Music production... As you said laptops are expensive buy and to maintain, and them being expensive doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a reliable one... Remember the more specs that things has the more complicated the engineering meaning it could fail you ANYTIME!!! A desktop on the other hand is more reliable and stable coz it's a simple built that can do literally anything you want and when fails(Hardware) you can fix it without breaking too much of a sweat... Currently I have a Dell Inspiron 5587 which is a beast that was hella expensive I got it for 26k but I only use it when I'm away from home and at home I have a rebuilt computer, I got that thing for literally R 1400, I upgraded that RAM to 32 Gigs(I only archived this last moth) and it's a 5th Gen I7(Had to upgrade the Motherboard to get it from dual core to that), Got 500 Gigs SSD to add to its 500 Traditional Hard drive and I threw in a graphics card... That thing is faster than my Laptop but even the upgrades didn't get to 6k!!
I really want to start music production because I’ve always loved playing n was band. I just have no clue about desktops and laptops and all this talk about adding parts is just really confusing. I would like a desktops preferably but I just don’t know where to start. And I would love to do some gaming as well, I play controller but wanna switch to keyboard
I think everybody should have a desk top to DJ, and use the laptop as a backup. Its battery run, so if desktop fails then use laptop. Desktops are becoming smaller then they used to be and can be added to you dj case and it probably wont over heat like a laptop
I’ve got a Imac 🖥 but really want to a laptop to make music on the move and play around while out of my bedroom studio. Not sure whether to get a MacBook or laptop tho but I prefer windows laptop really
I am about to buy Dell gaming laptop. Intel i7 9th Gen, Geforce GTX 1660TX. 8GB Ram. Do I need sound card (to attach to motherboard) for music production? I read that it's needed, some says it's not needed. I need help. Thank you.

Bedroom Studio Corner yhea man please do , recommendations on what can i buy because recommendations i been getting they out of proportion ,the guys from us ,uk 's videoss are mostly sponsored i find you as avery relevant solution for my problem andconsidering that you helped me in that R10 000 studio budget video yes please do a video on this issue , if you can can also recomand fast video editting softwares that are not that lagging (pc),no water-markers that i can use for the moment , since am on you-tube ,i want to upload content maybe 3 or 4 times a week but the softwares i have they are lagging
bukho pin-k hey man i suggest to you to get at least 8gb of ram it will be enough but the sweet spot is 16 but 32 is overkill if you dont do heavy work i reccomend a 2/4/6/8gb gpu and at least an i3/i5 but the best is ryzen 7/9 or i7/9 get atleast 500gb of storage but u can make it work easely with 1tb and yeah i would reccomend laptops if you are on a budget but desktop is way better but if you get both make sure that the one that you work on the most has the most horsepower it doesnt makes sense to have 2 shitty pcs/macs good luck finding one ; )
if I want to run omnisphere and all the plugins that arent very CPU friendly should I get a gaming/high end desktop? (I also want to be able to play games when I want)
You can essentially change every ounce of the whole system with 0 of the same parts and still technically have the same pc as long as all the information is transferred over, so yes... Basically... It's kind of like how over time pretty much every atom is replaced in your body multiple times as cells die and replenish. Making you physically a different person many times throughout your lifetime yet you still have all your memories, knowledge ect ect intact.

Especially with dual core processors and 64 bit storage
SolidStateDrive Harddrive

Rosey g14
@@rosey7433 honor magic book 14 going for £560 or USD $600
Heat is the enemy.
Sadly csnt use with apollo
So it seems like get a desktop until you are ready to preform or doing gigs at clubs. Therefore I’ll master ableton with a new desktop.

Its best to have both, but if your budget allows
And for both Desktop and Laptop its best to have core i7 and above
Lort B. Newer generations tho
Title of the background song please
What about digital noise, fan noise, etc, because my desktop makes too much noise, even with fans at lowest speeds.
You can clean it or get a quieter fan

Dumb question here: In theory, can your desktop last "forever" so long as you keep upgrading its parts?
It can last a long time not sure about forever tho.
