    My sister in law still holds on to her Japanese Citizenship because she still has pension and retirement benefits that she earned. For her, Japanese passport is just as good as US Passport for traveling abroad. My brother has a residency card in Japan so he could go there and live there. The only issue is that residency card in Japan has to be renewed more frequently, every 4 years I think.

    13 years of doing this yet you fail to mention the biggest reason why someone would retain their home passport - social security benefits!!! This is especially true with older folks who are eligible for and receive automatic payments from their home country. Likewise you would want to obtain US citizenship instead of just staying with a green card to also be eligible for social security from the US.
    And it doesn't stop at two passports - many circumstances exist where folks have triple citizenship and carry three passports LEGALLY. Just because you obtain US citizenship it doesn't mean you have to renounce your existing one!!!

    It is essential to note that expatriate tax is applicable only to “covered expatriates” - not every person who renounces their citizenship.
    According to IRC Section 877(a)(2), a covered expatriate is someone who meets any of the following criteria:
    Has an average annual net income tax liability for the five years preceding the expatriation year exceeding a specified threshold (adjusted for inflation, $178,000 for 2022);
    Has a net worth of $2 million or more on the expatriation date;
    Fails to certify, under penalties of perjury, compliance with all US federal tax obligations for the five years preceding the expatriation year.

Meanwhile, they were given Social Security numbers, allowed to work, and to obtain U.S. driver licenses. I was really surprised when I found out, they have gun permits (and firearms), and learned that they are also earning Social Security credits, which means they can go back to Colombia after ten years by having 40 Social Security credits and collect U.S. retirement income, regardless if their asylum is or isn't approved.

Countries like Singapore and many Arab countries prefer the foreign born residents to remain as permanent residents and they do not let them become citizens. There are some countries like New Zealand that would let all people regardless of their citizenship to vote in their elections. But in the US, being a citizen would get many benefits compared to a green card holder. Firstly, you will never get deported for offenses such as DUI, battery, theft etc. Secondly, getting a security clearance is easier for US citizens than a Green-card holder. These security clearances are needed for federal jobs and jobs in financial institutions that are affiliated to federal government. Another important but unspoken issue with Green-card is that it can be affected by the political climate and US politics. Most politicians would not disassociate people from their nation, meaning an adverse relation with the foreign country would impact the Green-card holder. Same goes with your neighborhood too. I do remember how some of my neighbors treat foreigners when they come to know that they are foreigners. Furthermore, retiring into home country would pose some difficulties in accessing the Social Security payments since those areas are handled by complex regulations. Some of my friends who went back to their home countries are not currently receiving their SSA payments as they have already lost their Green-card privileges. Remember, SSA payment is your right since you paid into it; but in your home country it may be a privilege based on your economic conditions. So yes, there are stuff to remember. But DO A THOROUGH RESEARCH AND GET ALL THE FACTS. My son who have a New Zealand passport was refusing to take up the US Citizenship for long. But he finally did after doing some research.

    I personally DO NOT BELIEVE in the federal government, but l will try to get any benefit that lm untitled to through whatever contributions l made in taxes since I was 17 years old
    If they denied my benefits, l will not be surprised and l just move on
    I’m planning to leave this country for good anyway

    for MOST Card Holders, the decision to get Citizenship will far outweigh the decision not to based on benefits. All Green card holders are libel for USA taxation no matter where they earn the money, anywhere in the world, just the same as US Citizens do. Green card can be taken away from you, whereas Citizenship in most cases, cannot.

    1:24 the majority of my country? I think you meant "family" right? Honestly 70% of my country live here already in the US. Any videos on dual citizenship? I truly don't see an economic advantage. I was sold this false illusion and other factors are more important, like your age, education, skills, what part of the US you live, business knowledge, etc. I see many non-citizens start businesses and do very well. I see many citizens here do nothing with their lives. Back in the 70's and 80's there was this big push for citizenship. One thing you did not mention is certain jobs you cannot apply too, especially federal jobs. That is why I did it.
