FWIW, That deer piling up in sight is the same experience I have had on multiple animals with the same 100g head. 2 deer and a bull elk have all just kind of bounded off and stopped, looking around wondering what happened, and then just tipped over dead. My thought is that the things are so sharp and produce a great wound channel the animals don't really know they're hit. Blood trails have been ok in my experience, but if you do your part there won't be any blood trailing needed.
Used the double bevel wide last week for the first time. Shot a big doe and she didn’t even know she had been shot. Hopped about 10 yards and stopped and looked around and collapsed right there. Unreal sharp and accurate and edge integrity is great. Arrow passed thru and into a log and was still very sharp. Great heads
I've taken 6 deer so far with Iron Will broadheads. 1 muledeer, 5 Whitetails. I've been very impressed. I took the muley at 75 yards. In right behind the shoulder joint, exited behind the last rib, and shattered the back leg. (520gr arrow, 70#, 30"). None of the whitetails made it more than 50 yards, even with 1 being a liver hit. Sharper blades=more blood. stropping the blades makes a world of difference. they should pop a rubberband with a touch.
I have been running the single bevel iron will broadheads. I have a lot of confidence in my broadheads. The blood trails may always be as intense as some of the expandable broadheads. But if I hit a bone on deer or bear hunting. I know that the broadheads didn't come apart and it damm near passes thru most animals I've have shot.
So two years ago I had one walking like almost straight at me quartering to just a little bit put it on the front shoulder and let it eat the only thing bad about a double bevel the Broadhead done phenomenal but being that it was a double bevel it rolled forward blew his whole shoulder up But it was so razor sharp that it cut everything in its way when it blew that shoulder up he walked over 10 yards laid down and died
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors yes, takes some fiddling to get it right. Then takes patience to get them razor sharp because the metal is so tuff. But they can be sharpened to ridiculous edge.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors You can use the Worksharp jig, it works very good, the other option is diamond plates and a Stay Sharp guide I will say it took some tinkering to figure them out, since the metal is so incredibly hard the burr is very very small to the point you almost can’t feel it, so just go through the full process and trust it and at the end they should be razors. I’m used to sharpening S30V and S35VN and the IW steel is much much harder than that
Look into the titanium components and collars MFJJ sells too at Podium Archer. 30/35/and 50 grain setups all titanium and the way his collar system was designed is really slick. Wealth of knowledge on his channel too
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors couple discount codes too can always use. From Tim Connor and MFJJ. Love theyre content as well. My next arrow build im thinking of going with them
The stay sharp guide works good for me. Use diamond plates as the iron wills are pretty hard. I actually like the double bevels better than the single bevels.
Thats the Jig I was checking out, but I know IW recommended the KME jig. I assume either will work just fine. One is just more expensive than the other
Blood trails are so subjective and too many factors come in to play. I’ve had mechanicals with little to no blood trail and red carpets with my Iron Will Wides, and times where the mechanicals bled a ton and other fixed blades with minimal blood. I’m a firm believer that too many factors come in to play. The wides are cutting 2-1/8” of a channel. That’s more than a lot of mechanicals….my opinion from 25+ of archery hunting and making a lot of mistakes. Shoot what your confident in and know is going to kill
@jonathanperillo1795 well said. I know that many factors come into play with blood trials, but I'm going to continue to test them to see what happens. I also have a lot of confidence in this setup.
Single or double in my experience the blood trail wont be any better or worse. Thats the theme for me with Magnus, Iron Will, Oz Cut, Steel Force, and Cutthroats. Just not enough blood on the ground for me. A hair popping sharpe 3 blade is all i carry these days.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors ive had great results with the grim reaper micro hades. Im currently trying the Terra Firma Gladius. Its a 3 blade Single Bevel. John Lusk did a recent test on them. They are from Austraila but i found someone in Kentucky thats selling them.
No sir. I'll be the first to admit that I suck at filming when it comes to deer hunting. I had the GoPro on my head in the morning and forgot to turn it on.

I agree. I experienced the same with this buck. He didn't even react to the shot; he just ran like he was spooked, stopped, and then tipped over.

Congratulations on the kill! I'm hoping to fill a doe tag tonight.

I’ve been pleased with them so far. I’ve also heard mixed reports on blood trials.
Thats a great buck and a cool hunt. Congrats! I love the photo with the sunset..
Thanks man!

Seems like a successful hunt 😂
Nice buck congrats. I run the 150 single bevel solids and they are super quiet. Have fun sharpening them back up lol they are very hard metal.
Did you buy a broadhead jig?

I need to order on

Plus the iron will heads look good!

I shoot the 100gr single bevel wide. Made a less than ideal shot on an 8pt (liver) piled up at 50 yards zero tracking trouble in heavy brush.
Any thoughts on sound of the vented wides? I’ve tired them, but they seem to be extremely loud compared to anything else?
They have a whistle for them, but I didn't even notice when I shot this buck.

The single bevels won’t change the blood trails. That deer didn’t bleed because it didn’t really have time to.
Thats a valid point!

@deanbrantley ill check them out. Thank you.
Solid 125 grain trifecta is another head you should try.
They destroy the inside of deer.

Hell will completely freeze over before I spend that much on a broadhead.
They aren't for everyone.
