🎊🎉🎊🎉 9 YEARS!! Congrats, John!! And very well deserved that you're here for this long. The game looks like a gem, 15min cutscenes aside... would love to try it one day! It has that perfect 2010 portable game vibe that's so comforting and atmospheric to me.. I would really enjoy if you could bring the second game and other games like this too on the channel!
@@HunieBunnyPop I mean they’re good and engaging cutscenes! But not super well suited for a handheld! Imagine being only like 1/3rd if the way through one and you’ve gotta get off the bus! 🤣
One thing I like about the game is the various distinct gangs that litter Kamurocho who make up the random street fights and combat parts of the optional B-Plot (seen in the substories). There's about 4 here (From the tanned tough guy group known as Diablo, the Hip Hop wannabe grapplers from DIS, the flashily dressed and fighting KINGDOM guys along with the classic High School Delinquents which make up Death Corps), each with their own distinct fashion sense, preferred fighting styles and territory on the map. (Diablo on the bottom left, DIS on top left, KINGDOM on bottom right, Death Corps on top right) Admittedly, I do prefer this approach over the mainline titles, especially with their multi-part system ensuring that no two enemies look completely the same. Like these punks actually look like punks.
@@knocked_for_six I debated going into more detail about the gangs in this video. It was pretty cool to see like what faction each enemy that tracks you down falls under
Love your content man, and I'm super stoked after seeing you cover one of my favorite games! Played the fan translation back in October last year and had a blast with both games. Keep rocking dude, and heres to another year of Strain42.
Happy anniversary. It's been a pleasure following your work over the years, dude. This is the first I've heard of these games, but thinking about it, wrestling and LaD go together incredibly well. As cool as the combat looks, the camera is a bit too close, though I guess you can get used to it. It's impressive how much stuff they fit into this little UMD. It'd be neat to see some mention of Tatsuya in the series, even if it may be very unlikely.
First-time viewer, now subbed. Good review! I played this one recently as well. I agree, it's definitely better than you'd expect from an LAD game shoved onto the PSP. Personally, my big complaint was how the AI would shamelessly spam block-and-counter moves, even making frame-perfect counters that feel like it's reading your inputs. That got VERY annoying after awhile. BTW, just as a suggestion: Have you ever played Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble? It's also on PSP and is kind of like a cross between Like A Dragon and Way Of The Samurai, with the goofiness of River City Ransom. I ended up playing it side-by-side with Black Panther, and it was kind of interesting comparing how the two games took very different approaches to fairly similar "bancho life sim" material.
@@jasonblalock4429 Glad you liked it, and welcome to the channel! Yeah, the enemy AI in this one can be a little annoying. I recall them fixing that in the sequel
9 years? Weak lol I got Yakuza: Like a Dragon from the free PlayStation games and it was my favorite free game beat the whole thing good to see coverage of a game I never would check out. 🤗
It means we're definitely in for one more year of Glover and I think 10 years is a good enough place to realize I don't have to hold myself to tradition lol

Congratulations on the anniversary of this channel and hopefully you can cover more Like a dragon stuff.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU! Thx so much for giving this video game some love
No problem! It's one I've wanted to talk about for a while! Hope you enjoyed it!

Just as an aside, the music in this game (like all LAD games) is absolutely kickass.

I have legit never heard of this game. Nice review 👍

you forget the Syn Sophia(Formerly A.K.I.) was the Developer of the Greatest Rasslin' Game of all time, WWF No Mercy.
Yay! Someone made a review of this hidden gem!
Thanks! I had fun talking about it!

No way, peak (Kurohyou)!
Btw Tatsuya is the best written RGG protag you can't change my mind
He's not my favorite, but I do really like him as a character and his arc.
IKUZO KORAAA!!!!
Please review the second game soon! I don't wanna have to wait 2 years for that.
@@Endlessdarkness0 well that…WAS kinda the plan, but I’m open to rethinking it lol
Hopefully, We'll get a Remake of Black Panther, most like gonna be Renamed "Like a Black Panther"
Does this video mean that anniversary episodes can now be whatever game is intresting enough to you to talk about
