I really didn't like Shinada and I don't understand why people do like him. If you need a lasy, funny guy, that is doing all things badly, well, there is Akiyama for that
My favorite part of Yakuza 4 is a substory where Tanimura has to save a man threatening to jump off a building by beating him in a fight but you can use a heat action where you throw him off the roof.
I quit at 90% after 300 hours. Just got too mundane. Also a lot of stupid achievements. I started hard and had to spend 20 hours to the replay the game on normal or something just for an achievement. And a very difficult coliseum on hard.
Kiryu and Tanimura's main side things were actually combat related. It's so weird that Saejima, the man who practices by MINING in areas that Osha would shut down in a glance, doesn't have a direct fight related one, instead his is just kinda forced. Doesn't add up to me and I wish his coliseum was more story driven
I feel another combat-related side story for him would be boring, especially after Jahnub called his combat boring lol. And he’s a strong dude, he should be doing physical activities anyway
Saejima is a character with so much potential but I really feel like he wasn't utilised properly until 5 (loved his hunting minigame, one of the best in the series IMHO, and it really suits and enhances his personality). Despite being such a significant contributor to the plot of 4 he really deserved more; he especially deserved a more diverse and engaging fighting style IMHO, I found his combat to be sluggish and so simplistic that it became painfully repetitive, especially when fighting quick, agile antagonists. A brutal, forceful style definitely suits his character to a tee, but they should've given it more depth and variety. I felt similarly about Shinada's style - too rudimentary to be fun. I'm really hoping that Saejima will get a game to himself someday - or perhaps shared with Akiyama (maybe even make it a trio with Tanimura in the mix), and RGG will focus on making his gameplay as fluid and fun as that of Akiyama, Kiryu, Tanimura and Yagami. Also I just wanna see more of the dude! Easily in my top 5 Yakuza characters.
Can someone _PLEASE_ explain to me how the HELL pachinko is supposed to work?!?! 😅 I swear nothing I do while "playing" the machines seems to make any difference, the same generic cutscenes accompanied by the same obnoxious music just repeat endlessly; there doesn't seem to be any conceivable way to "win" or to even influence the game to any degree whatsoever!! Makes me feel like I'm going bonkers in some nightmarish casino, as though I'm playing "Like an Atrocious Gambler: Infinite Loss"!!! 😂 What the _HELL_ am I missing?!?!!!!
Here is a warning about Yakuza 5, for some reason you CAN'T go from premium adventure to new game plus, so make sure to complete everything in the finale (specially the coliseum, you dont want to play it on hard or legend) of the main game and then go for new game plus on legend for the achievement.
Your best work yet imo Really think you've managed to improve each installment of this series to the next. The pacing, structure, script and serenade to Tanimura were all exceptional. Keep up the great work Jahn, really looking forward to the next entry!
Man, I hope jahn's wishes for Yakuza 4 2 will come true. I mean, all they need to do is copy-paste this game's battle- and upgrade system and add a little spice to the encounter rate. What could go wrong?

Fun fact! Saejima doesn't take part in any Karaoke in Yakuza 4, and his own stated reason is that it just isn't his thing. The truth is that his voice actor was self conscious about his voice and was too nervous to agree to singing

Hi Jahn. Love your videos man. Just a suggestion, for the next yakuza game, if it difficulty related trophy, couldn't you do a backup of the save file before the final boss, and just change difficulty before fighting the final boss?
You know, it's funny. I remember being interested in Yakuza 1 back when it came out. Even circled it in an old GameStop magazine. However, I semi-forgot about it, and was too young, till eventually I played a demo of 4, and like you, it was my first REAL exposure to Yakuza
Tanimura also my favorite to play as, so more technical than the others white various heat moves at the end of his combos, with the parry you can perfect one big enemy with one heat move at the end of a parry plus one heat move when his arm is lock at the end of the previous heat move 😍 For the mini game I also have the same feeling, I think that every fan of yakuza start by hating koi koi or majhong when they first discover yakuza but then after so much games from RGG studio your start to love the mechanics. Dice games will always be boring though because it's just stupid RNG.

But for whatever reason, I decided you know what, I probably don’t need healing items for tanimura since his combo finishers are really strong, I cant imagine his final boss being harder than say, Kiryu’s. The Tanimura counter only gets the five second window after upgrading it lol it's actually quite trash before the upgrade as it needs a frame perfect timing
To me, 4's substories are still my favorite amongst the entire series (prior to Ichiban Saga at least), especially since most of them are connected in some way, that's my favorite part about them, AND there's JUST ENOUGH of them, so the quality is consistently nice, unlikey having a 100 of substories of varying and mostly lackluster quality like in 3 for example.
