Amber, your channel has been a treasure trove of learning and guidance for me. I’ve listened to and learned from many of your videos over the last 5 months and this is one of my favorites! Thank you for your honesty and sound advice. I have a loved one who is struggling. Not sure if the timing is right to share this with them but this video will be in my back pocket. I especially like the part about the world missing out on their unique gifts and your explanation of perception being off because of what alcohol does to the brain. Love how you explain things without judgement or shame. Thank you!!
I am counting the moments til you expand on your first point regarding the person closest to the alcoholic being the first person to go. I’m experiencing this right now and would love to hear your video to gain some clarity on this. Will it be an upcoming video?
Your content is so helpful. Thank you !! I’m living with a partner struggling with this and I would have lost my mind if it wasn’t for you. He has a really good high pressure job. The way you explain the person close to you is the first to go but the rest goes on. That’s why it hurts so much. But I shan’t be dragged down. I’ve got this. Thanks for your perspective and please don’t ever stop !!
My partner says he relapsed because our connection isn’t good. It seems like he is not taking accountability and keeps blaming it on our connection. Of course our connection is broken. Due to all the lies, hiding and deceit. What should I do?
Right on the money with the alcohol being overly EXPECTED not just accepted!! Ppl think ppl who don't drink dobit because they have an alcohol problem or AUD!!
Hi Amber , my ALO ,, would ,, I believe,, head for the bar ,, as this was a safe place ,, no one would criticise them , or prevent them they would only encourage,, HERD mentality,, they just disappear into the pack,, I was left like a lone wolf ,, unable to stop them ,, this ,, over time , as the addiction took ,hold would change. I once entered a town centre, riverside bar and bistro with a retired work colleague at 7pm after I had been swimming,,, oddly we found the bar area empty , looking round we found a crowd of people standing between the bistro tables ,, back at the bar I found the cause ,, my ALO ,, was stood ( only just ) between the coats on the coat rack by the bar ,, too drunk to speak ,, 🗣️,, looking like they had just topped up ,, ( own bottle ) . Now ,the HERD had run away ,, from the aggressive drunken woman at the bar woman ,, she was on her own now, too drunk to be good company. I bought my colleague a beer ,, and took my AOL home , not that they she remembers any of this . I’ll always remember the pleading look of the bar maid .

What about when a couple are both into it and enable one another?
You wont offend me using the word alcoholic I still use the biblical term drunk that’ll get people chasing you pitchforks nowadays🤦♂️

I blackout nearly nightly. I live alone, so there's no real behavior to be concerned about. It's all self contained.
