INDIAN CLASSICAL DANCERS | HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT HAIR BUN

- This is my first of many video tutorials - Step-by-step instructions on how to make a neat and perfectly round hair bun for all Kathak and Indian classical dancers. No matter how long or short your hair is, the right technique can make it really easy to achieve this hair style. And, of course, practice makes perfect! Please leave your questions, comments and feedback below.
You will need:
1. A hair brush
2. A fine tooth tail comb
3. Hair spray
4. Hair gel
5. 2 strong rubber bands
6. 15-20 bobby pins
7. 10-15 U-pins
8. Some hair clips
9. large 'hair doughnut' for the bun
10. A large hair net, ideally one that has an elastic drawstring
11. 'Gajra' made of plastic flowers, available online

That was so informative mam. It would be helpful for me if you suggest few hair gels you use. I always fail in maintaining the hair neatly!
Sravani Dhulipala "Gatsby" has good gels. Try one of their "strong hold" gels. You don't need to use much at a time. Just a touch to tame the hair.

shubhanshi jain take a black or brown thread according to your hair colour and tie a knot at the joint that joins the string and main piece of the Tika now take the the other two sides of the black thread and tie them at the back of your head your tika will stay at its place

Shilpa V. Mishra I don't use any particular brand of hair spray. This one is Pantene, but there are lots of good strong hold sprays out there. And the gajra is from Tulsi baug, a market in Pune. If you don't find something similar.. go into any big market in the cities and see where they sell puja items. Some small shops like that have torans and malas made of similar material that can be cut and used as gajras. All the best!

what do u do if u have short hair
It needs to be long enough to get into at least a short ponytail. Or else you can look for maybe a clip on bun or a false plait?
